Ruth's Chris Steak House - Boston Ratings and Reviews
It was probably the food I’ve ever had. Our Waiter was great for suggestions but he did forgot about a drink that’s the reason for 4 star service. Place look good but there weren’t enough separation between the other guests to create the intimate experience I wanted. All that said I will be back.
Love Ruth's Chris but the service was really lacking this time. Made a reservation for 8 pm. Arrived at 7:40 knowing we would get a drink first. Were told our table would be ready closer to our reservation time (which was fine). 8:00 came, no table. 8:10, no table. I finally asked the hostess at 8:18 if we would be sat soon. She said they were cleaning the table at that very moment and they would come get us in one minute. That process took seven minutes total (seems odd if they were actually in the process of cleaning the table - should only take a minute or two). I also note that the way they get you for your table is by walking around the bar asking everyone if they are the people they are looking for. MASSIVE waste of time. They should take people's phone numbers. Also valet had us wait in the rain upon leaving for at least ten minutes. I do note that our server and food were both excellent but everything else just bleh. We come here often and this has now happened twice. What is the point of making a reservation if they're a half hour late every time?
For the first time, my steak was not very good. The cut was good sized but very grisly. The a grate potatoes side was not as flavorful as before. I did speak with the waiter and they took my steak off of the bill. Waiter was wonderful and very understanding.
Why is it every time we go here they try to sit us in the basement? Even with request for main dining room on open table. We had 5:30 reservation on Friday night. Main dining room was nearly empty and we had to ask twice to sit there. After we said no to basement they tried to sit us in the tiny room by front door. Finally sat us in main dining room. Main dining room did not fill up till we were leaving at 7:45 so no reason they could not have honored our request to start with. And we were dressed up while others around us had jeans and sweatshirts on. If you go insist on not sitting in the windowless basement!
The steak was excellent! Being in the old steakhouse was beautiful. It was a little crowded and tight so it made it a little louder and we wanted. We would ask for one of the smaller rooms next time. The service was outstanding we had a great time! We never felt rushed the menu was explained in detail and everything arrived as expected.
After many wonderful meals at this location our experience was very disappointing. Our waiter did not come over to the table for almost 10 minutes 3 of the 4 steaks that were suppose to medium were not. Two of them were very under cooked and one was over cooked. The waiter never came over to check on us and at the end when we were asked if we were taking home the remainder of the steak my friend said no it is to under cooked and he said well you should of ordered it well done. Overall not a good night
My steak was so under cooked when I cut it open and asked a waiter what he thought I ordered he said medium rare and I ordered medium well.
They took it back and over cooked it. I took a few bites but never complained and my server took away my plate and without speaking just came back and said my meal was comped and gave me and my daughter a free desert as it was my birthday.
I expected that as it is not the first time I have been to a first class steak house nor is it the first time my steak has been ruined. I still respect what they did.
Diner was almost perfect. Before getting our table in the diner room, we've been to the bar. Service at the bar was not good and really slow, even if we ordered a bottle of wine, we had to call the waitress for the wine list, for the bottle, then for the check...
We went there for a birthday dinner for two on a Sunday night around 7pm. The hostess and waiter were nice and attentive. The restaurant was quiet, maybe game night? Both of us started with a cocktail, it came but the glasses felt kinda sticky as if the drink were made and there was spillage and they did not bother to clean them well. Drink presentation were ok, glasses were not elegant or anything for the price... $14 each. Then we shared the ravioli appetizer. That was yummy, but disappointed that a steak house only had one choice of non-seafood as an appetizer, that was weird! We both ordered the steak (a filet and a bone-in filet.) A side of corn and caramelized fingering potatoes, which btw was not caramelized... more like stir fry in sugar. The steak was good, not great, but expect more for the price. The wine by the glass was good as well. We wrap up dinner with molten lava chocolate cake and mousse, we were stuffed. There were not acknowledgement of a birthday, no candle or writing on the dessert we ordered. Overall, we expected more for the price. It was just okay good.
