Ruth's Chris Steak House - Boston Ratings and Reviews
We have been here multiple times and every time have had a great experience., except for this past time. The host was the piece of the experience that ruined it for us. She made no attempt to greet us or even look up at us. After I said hi and told her my first and last name she asked me to repeat it which I did. While looking at her list she once again asked me for my name. After she checked us in both myself and my guest went to the bathroom and came back maybe 3 mins later. And the host once again gave me the same lackluster amount of energy. She also once again asked me for my name 3 times to get me checked in. It was one of the worst checkin experiences I have ever had at ANY restaurant.
My wife and I were celebrating our 42 wedding anniversary and were certainly not disappointed. We were greeted by very friendly staff and when told our table was already
ready for us, we asked if we could go into the bar for a relaxing drink beforehand and they had no issues at all, so we knew right away we were not going to be rushed at all. Bartender was very nice and prepared a special martini for my wife and an outstanding gin & tonic for myself. After a relaxing time we went in to be seated and were taken to a nice table near the window overlooking the front entrance. Our waiter could not have been any better, Martin let us relax, explained everything in detail and joined in with conversation. The manager came by on several occasions to ask how our evening was going, which was nice. Never once did we feel rushed, which is what we were looking for. It was an excellent evening and we will certainly be back in the very near future, not because they gave us an unexpected desert on the house which was fantastic , but because of the way they made you feel welcome; and oh, the meal was worth every penny.
Very crowded tables, my chair was hit all night by staff. Food was OK, not the quality of other Ruth Chris restaurants I have visited. Both my husband and myself had over cooked steaks. The other couples drinks were incorrect all night and they told them several times that it didn’t taste right! They finally figured out that they were being given a flavored Crown.Bartender forgot his glasses??? With the choices of restaurants in Boston, this would not be my pick of places to go. Convenient to our Hotel, got seated early!
Our waiter was phenomenal.
HOWEVER, and I would have said something but it was our ten year anniversary. The male hostess with the black kinda long hair was rude— not taking my name.... speaking as if I should not have been there and told us to wait even though we had a reservation and turned away... sorry to have bothered his time.... outrageous.... will not be back and nor will all my clients and that is unfortunately true for you
And god forbid he could taste his greasy head and say goodbye then purposely see us and out head down
Disgusting display to have in our anniversary .
Great food, Great Service, interesting venu...BUT Concierge (greeting staff)poor. Restaurant advertises valet parking but upon arrival there was no one on duty... Staff could not tell us where we should leave the car or with whom. Upon leaving after dinner they could not tell us where to meet the Valet or where our car might be. very disinterested in helping Really off putting. I know the Valet service is NOT part of the restaurant, but if you advertise the service then you should know about it and be courteously helpful to the guests...and by the way parking in Old Boston is a ZOO. It will be a while before we will want to go back.
We've been coming here for years and for the first time my review is mixed.
Firstly, thank you to the manager for ensuring we got got a quiet, romantic table for our anniversary. Martin, our server, was excellent, as were our steaks, however the shrimp was just average and the lobster mac & cheese was watery and flavorless. For the price, and the caliber of this restaurant, these sides should have been perfect but were far from it.
The special anniversary dessert we were offered was very nice.
The restaurant was lovely, with nice ambience. The wait staff should have been more attentive though. Our steaks were undercooked and waitress never followed up on status after they were returned to the table. For the amount spent ($245 with tip for two people!), we expected more. The food was very good, but the cost and value were a little out of balance.
Yes, it's a national chain. But RC always does a good job, at least at this location. Steak (bone-in ribeye) was perfectly cooked. Be sure to get the hash browns. Not on the menu but a not-so-secret secret amongst the regulars. They're truly awesome. Service, as in the case with previous visits, is friendly and efficient. Nice folks. Added benefit is that this RC is in the old Boston City Hall, so a little history with your meal.
This is the best steak house that I've ever been to! I've been well over a dozen times and have NEVER been disappointed! Most five star places serve a good steak but their's is the best! I love that the plates come out piping hot. This gives my wife(who likes her steak medium) a chance to finish off cooking the medium rare steak that we share. I totally recommend the Bone-in flelet! The sides are also amazing. Keep up the good work!
Don't know what happened here, they ran tandem servers in the past
Not on Saturday night
I have never had a problem with the service
We were there on Saturday night ,dirty dishes stayed on the table for extra time, even if they asked if it was OK to clear . The clear took a while to happen
I don't mind time in between courses ,but this night seemed excessive
No recognition that was that there was a problem, and therefore no apology
This used to be our go to restaurant for a family get together's and seeing friends from out of town
We're probably gonna look to the seaport for a new venue
This is probably the most wellknown steakhouse in Boston! The localities are really chic and the whole set up fancy. Food is good and the extensive wine list contains many good californisn and world wide wines. So everything id good until you recieve the check.
They asked if we were there for a special occasion when we sat down at our table and we told them it was our anniversary. They sprinkled "happy anniversary" confetti on our table and brought us a free dessert to share at the end which was very nice! Our server was very polite and did a great job. The food and drink was absolutely delicious!
It was a totally outstanding evening. The service was wonderful, the food flavorful, and setting was comfortable. The only issue was the tables were squeezed together so it was difficult to move to and from tables, and the servers struggled to move around and between the tables. The closeness made meaningful conversations, either personal or business, impossible. But I would return to this and the other Ruth's Chris locations as my first choice.
