Ruth's Chris Steak House - Birmingham Ratings and Reviews
You asked. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms. No where did it mention they were SPICY. Had to eat buttered bread to cool my mouth. Ordered off the pre fixe menu (big mistake). Ceaser salad was good. Steak cooked perfectly, but hard to chew. 6 oz filet and I was tired of chewing after 1/2 the steak. Got the mushroom coucous as a side, asked the waiter all about it, never mentioned there were peas in it. (Husband hates peas). The highlight of the meal was the CREAMED SPINACH, it is the BEST! We have celebrated our anniversary there before and was served a special dessert and our waiter, Justin, did not offer that. (He knew it was our anniversary and did not seem interested.) It was our 40th ... a big one! If I come back, will not order steak off the pre fixe menu. There was a man dressed in black going around and asking how things were, I was not going to embarass my husband by speaking up.
2nd time we have eaten here for Valentine’s. We were able to combine and share the salads and sides because it is usually just too much to eat. Filet was cooked just like we like it and we both like it different!! Justin was our waiter and did an excellent job. We were sad to hear that our waiter last year had passed away - his name was Mitchell and he was very special. We will definitely come back!!
The food was great as usual from Ruth's Chris; the location and environment of this particular location was kind of strange. I found my experience at the Embassy suites where this is located to be sub par but the restaurant was nice. It was in a location and the environment of the hotel was not comfortable at all; the restaurant was much better but I feel some of the noise from the hotel carried over into the dining location.
We had pretty good service there during our meal; just not the best experience I have at a this brand of restaurants.
New Year’s Eve dinner. Based on experiences at other Ruth’s, this was one of the worst experiences. The steak was not cooked properly. And I overheard the table behind us saying the same of their steaks. Management offered them a free desert. One of the lobster tails tasted fishy. The potatoes-au-gratin had the appearance of coming out of a microwave. Two tables had very loud patrons, which is understandable on New Year’s Eve. Honestly, for the money you should consider Flemings or Perry’s.
My wife & I dine at this restaurant regularly & for numerous special occasions. This was the worst service EVER! We were seated only 10 minutes past our reservation time. Not bad for New Year's Eve. Our order was taken 10 minutes later. We did not get our main course for OVER ONE HOUR! The server said that she was sorry but an order for 14 people was given to the kitchen just before ours. SO? It is NYE, & you are no more prepared than that? Unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber & heretofore excellent service. We did not order alcoholic beverages, yet our dinner for two lasted 2 hours & 45 minutes. Ridiculous...
Made reservations for 4, our table only had 3 chairs and it took staff a while to figure out how to get a 4th chair at our table so we all were standing until we asked if we could just borrow one from another table, which we grabbed it not the staff. Also, when we sat down water was quickly being poured but there was only enough water in the large pitcher for 2 glasses and we had to wait for the other 2 to be filled later. I do not understand the lack of preparation for an early reservation. No one was there at 6 p.m.
We were paying for our guests using gift cards and secretly gave the waiter the cards and let him know to be discreet. After attempting to process the cards, the waiter then proceeded to tell the entire table out loud that the 3 cards didn't work and wanted to know where we got them. I told him through a rewards program and it totally embarrassed us in front of our guests that we were treating. He said he would have to go to the manager to straighten it out. After a bit, he came back and all was ok but he had to announce out loud again what an issue they have with gift cards. He should have gone to the management first and not have been so overt about it in front of us and our guests. We were disappointed in the service/staff and it diminished our time there.
Actually went three times since we were staying at the hotel. The first night was a dinner for two which was excellent. Next day the lunch salads were great. That evening we had a family dinner for eight in a private dining room (the “Board Room”). The table was perfectly set. Service was prompt but unhurried. Food was perfect for everyone. Setting was quiet so we could all talk. Considering everything, price was reasonable. Stayed for three hours and had a wonderful evening.
