Ruth's Chris Steak House - Birmingham Ratings and Reviews
I’ll touch on the good first. The steak was absolutely amazing and edges upon the best you can get out anywhere! An 1800 degree sear really seals in the flavor and the plate sizzles when it’s served. Everyone at the table enjoyed their steak and they were all cooked to perfection. The service of our waiter was exceptional and he attended to the table often, but not too often. He was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive.
Now for the negatives. The Ruth’s Chris website posts a business casual dress code rule, and if you don’t wear the mat they will seat you in the bar. So, we make sure we are acceptable and arrive to find a lumberjack in jeans, an affliction T-shirt wearer, shorts on one guy, and the hostess is wearing a black T-shirt and yoga pants. If your not going to follow your own rules, don’t put it out there. Secondly, the sides were underwhelming. The broccolini was undercooked, the cream spinach was okay at best, and the others were just alright.
All-and-all, it was a good dining experience and the steak will definitely bring me back! The desserts were good and the portion sizes were just right. I promise, you won’t leave hungry and the steak will be worth the trip!
Meagan was an outstanding young associate waiting our table. She made the excellent food & drinks exceptional.
The dinner was as good as it gets. I entertain 2-3 times per week for business and Ruth’s Chris was an excellent choice.its just doesn’t get any better!
Thank you Cedric for making this a great dining experience.
The only positive part of our experience was the wait staff. Extremely pleased with the professionalism of our waitress. Our food, however, was NOT good. The steaks were the worst. I’ve eaten at this particular restaurant several years ago and it was wonderful. I was in town to visit my daughter at her college homecoming and couldn’t wait to take her to a great restaurant. Boy, was I disappointed. We expected to spend between $300-$400 for a great meal, but instead we got most of our steaks to go for our dog. Steaks were not seasoned well and very over cooked. Ordered medium rare and received well done. Again, no fault of our waitress. She was fabulous.
It was what I expected. Excellent steaks. The decor is a bit tired, and the bartender was nice, but had to learn how to make my drink from a card. The drink was on their menu, maybe a little more training would help? Overall we were very satisfied, the steaks are worth the money. The sides were ok, a little underseasoned.
You'd think after all these years there would be at least one less than stellar evening at Ruth's Chris. It hasn't happened yet. You can count on their food being exceptional and you can count on the wait staff being professional and yet comfortable friendly hosts. This night was no different. *thank you, Mike B!).
Waiter attentive, well-made drinks. Steaks and shrimp a bit too salty. Best Bernaise in Bham. Sides good, though requesting an $8.50 baked potato in place of $9.50 mashed potatoes should not come with a $5 upcharge...that's a service faux pas you don't get at other fine Bham spots
The service by Dave was great.
I have eaten at your restaurant several times for birthday and anniversary celebrations and always find the food great. However, this time all of found the steaks to be a little chewy around the edges. Other than that the evening was as expected.
I made a birthday reservation for my boyfriend. I brought a cake ahead of date. The manager Paris was very accommodating. Our server Lionel was amazing. Food was outstanding. I had broiled cajun salmon fillet, and creamy spinach with a bonnie and Clyde cocktail. The birthday guy had seafood gumbo, double breasted stuffed chicken breast with a baked potato. And his cocktail of choice was a Georgia peach. The drinks were fantastic. We were the last ones to leave. And we weren't rushed. I will be back.
