Ruth's Chris Steak House - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
The lack of enforcement of the posted dress code was appalling. There were guests there in sweat pants, graphic and spirit sweatshirts, guys wearing graphic tees and baseball caps. There is no way I would plan a special dinner here. Things have clearly changed.
The food was superb and the service was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone who was looking for an wonderful meal. The one note is that you get what you pay for; this is not a cheap place to eat at, but it is worth the price for any special occasion.
I’ve been going to this restaurant regularly for 20 years. Tonight was unfortunately an off night. First I went to the ladies room while we waited for our table. The bathroom was dirty, a bottle of Dial hand soap sat on the sloppy, wet vanity. Unimpressed. Then the apps came but the mushroom stuffed with crab were not edible. I order them every time and these were awful. We didn’t eat them and our waiter was nice enough to ask if we wanted something else instead. We passed as we had ordered our favorites and knew our salads were coming. But they left the returned food on the check! Disappointing meal for $500. Service was good but the management should have stepped in, cleaned the restroom, put soap in the dispenser and taken the lousy $11 appetizer off our check. Will not be going back anytime soon. It felt like an Outback Steakhouse... not like fine dining.
Don't like writing this review because we LOVE this restaurant, but unfortunately we were a little disappointed with our Christmas Day seating and meal. My Boyfriend & I come here every Christmas for a fantastic holiday dinner and have been doing so for the last four years now. We are always extremely happy with our dining experience at Ruth's Chris, that's why we come back year after year. We've also dined here for other occasions including my sisters birthday & one year for my Boyfriends birthday, and we always leave happy. However, this year we weren't as pleased with our Christmas Dinner as usual. I usually make these reservations 8 or 9 months in advance. I requested a booth in the main dining room, however we were placed at a tiny table to the back of the entry way dining area. As we dined we noticed several parties of only 2 persons placed at the booths over and over. Even a table in the main dining area (which is where we were seated last year), would have been a much better seat for returning guest. I ordered the small filet with the twin lobster tails & My Boyfriend ordered a larger filet with the lobster tails. We both requested medium rare steaks. My Boyfriends filet was perfect, but both my steak & the lobster tails were over cooked. We also ordered 2 drinks off of the regular menu, two regular menu sides, as well as a glass of wine (so we weren't just ordering items from the special price menu). Maybe this was just an "off night" as this is the first time I've ever been disappointed at Ruth's Chris in Beverly Hills. Just hoping next time everything will be back to the great standards we have enjoyed in the past.
My husband and I went to Ruth's Chris Steak house for his "birthday eve" dinner (Christmas eve). We had great expectations based upon the reviews, but our evening was less than stellar. For beginners, we had to wait in a very cramped area for our table. Only a few seats available, the rest was standing room, shoulder to shoulder only. When we got to our table, which was a nice one in a good space, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered both ordered the same thing. The caesar salad and the petit rib eye. The caesar salad was as blah as blah could be. My husband ordered his meat medium and I ordered my medium rare, but they both came out rare to medium rare. We contemplated sending my husband's back for further cooking, but that can totally disrupt the flow of your evening so he persevered and ate his anyway. Our sides were basic, and they too were mostly tasteless. Maybe it was the busy evening, but I felt that a resaturant of its longevity and reputation would have food worth raving about. Disappointed and won't go back. Wish it had been better, but you live and learn.
I still can't get over the way they dropped all of the best side dishes a few years ago. Not being able to have the sauteed spinach, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms they way they used to make them really hampers the enjoyment of my steak. It's still a good steak though.
It was a simple order. Cowboy ribeye and a couple of salads. The steak was good though I’d swear wasn’t as big as advertised.
It was the salads that floored us. No question the worst excuse of a Caesar salad on the planet.
The other salad was also insipid and both were really haphazardly presented and tiny “side salad” sized to boot.
Was it because it was a Sunday? I don’t know but virtually any chain steakhouse in LA is WAY better. Boa, STK, Palm, Flemings, Bourbon, Larsen’s etc -Even the Smokehouse is far superior.
Had a bad experience at Ruth’s Chris in Austin 17 years ago and came to this one finally to use a gift card. Won’t return.
This location is much much better that the Anaheim location. All of the food was good. My only complaint was my caesar salad. The lettuce looked old and had that signature reddish brown old look that romaine gets which might be acceptable at a lower quality restaurant but shouldn't be acceptable at a nice steak restaurant. I stayed quiet about it though because my boyfriend doesn't like when I make a fuss. :) The service was great and our table was nice. Overall good time.
No other place to spend one’s 50th birthday dinner, even if I wasn’t a self proclaimed foodie and obsessed with the bone-in filet...
Even if...this was just about the most perfectly executed meal from start to finish, I’d make the same selections next time. Thanks for the birthday martini, professionalism, good humor and a memorable night!
