Ruth's Chris Steak House - Bethesda Ratings and Reviews
Steaks were amazing as usual. Service was good, we had 6:30 reservations, but towards the end it becomes very. Slow as the restaurants filled up. This is not the first time I have had this experience here. Just feels like when at capacity there’s not enough wait staff.
Did not have a pleasant experience for the amount of money we paid.. that location is not like the others. I’ve been to different locations and the food/staff and presentation was excellent. The location I went to ( Bethesda) for my birthday was very disappointing. Food was burnt and cold vegetables were extremely soggy. Definitely was t worth the price we paid.
Ruths Chris is one very fine steak house. Attention to details are outstanding. It is a pleasure to dine with a restaurant that welcomes you by name and treated like a member of the family. The best steaks around and the crab tower and tuna appetizers are sensational.
The food was mainly good. Service was good enough. The occasion was New Years Eve. Many patrons were dressed like bums, sweat suits, stretch pants, etc. what happened to “business attire?” People were loud talkers and half the people were on their phones. Sorry to say the restaurant has fallen off.
Reservation was for 630. We checked in at 613pm and weren’t seated until approximately 715pm. Drinks at our table took over 25-minutes. Appetizers came in normal time, but main course took over 90mins. Our server was incredibly attentive and apologetic. Clearly not her fault. Food hot. Manager avoided all guests and didn’t address complaints. Totally understand it was Christmas. All it would have taken was an acknowledgement by manager.
Considering it was Christmas night and the restaurant was jam packed. The service was very good. This staff could have been relaxing at home, but they kindly chose to work serving others on a major holiday. Many thanks to them!
The food was very good. Fresh, well prepared and served both warm on plate and warmly in service.
The bartenders were hopping and could have done a better job acknowledging those waiting a long time to get a drink while waiting for a delay table seating. But that is my only criticism for the night.
Both the seafood and the steak were perfectly cooked.
Clearly this restaurant knows their business and has it down pat. I venture to say, there's no such thing as an off night here.
Dine with confidence! Enjoy.
On Xmas at 6:10 for a 6:15 reservation and didn’t get seated until almost 7. Appetizers came before our drinks ever arrived and our entrees took over 2 hours to come out after we were seated. Food was prepared well but at that point we were exhausted and ready to go home. Waiter tried his best and it was obvious they were seriously understaffed but management really should have planned better and made amends for the wait, a free drink while we waited for our table or free dessert would have gone a long way. My family and I will never go there for another holiday again.
We enjoyed a family party of 7 at this always consistently good establishment. High ceilings, dark wood decor all backed up by attentive service. Appetizers were interestingly seasoned spiced shrimp, mushroom caps with crab meat, tender calamari. Steaks and filets were served piping hot and cooked exactly to all orders. One caveat is that if you don't like pepper in the rub ask for a substitute. We over-ordered on the sides and some missed out on desserts but everyone from teens to seniors agreed that it was a especially good dinner.
I had five clients at the restaurant for dinner. Overall the food was fine, the problem was service.
Service after the entre was delivered virtually disappeared. Desert menu's were very slow to come, and once ordered the desert itself was even slower. After prodding one of our waiters desert and coffee finally arrived, only when the check arrived did I realize one of my guests never got the coffee he ordered, the waiter did take it off the bill.
This was embarrassing for me, certainly will not use this location again.
We were treated well by attentive staff who paid special attention to the birthday girl. But for the hefty hefty price, a few food details disappointed. 2 filet mignon ordered medium rare came back medium at best. One of the salads was so overdressed with such a strong mustard dressing that it literally cleared out my sinuses. Not edible to most. Would have returned it but it would have embarrassed my kids. And the chocolate lava cake was almost all cake with virtually no lava. Once again cooked just a bit too long. This meal is all about great ingredients but their preparation should be flawless at this price point and it just wasn’t. Still a good time was had by all ....
I've always loved Ruth's Chris but this past experience was unfortunately not a good one. We started the meal with calamari which was so hard and chewy it was inedible. We sent it back and got a crab stack which was nice. For my entree I got the chop house salad which I love and my husband got a steak and baked potato. The Steak was delicious but his baked potato was cold and tasted like old microwaved potato. He sent it back and was given a new one which did come hot. The manager never came over to apologize or ask how or meal was and when the bill came there was no compensation (the crab stack actually cost more than the calamari and we were charged the higher amount). From a restaurant like Ruth's Chris I expected a little better service when things went as negatively as they did. I'm sad to say I won't be back.
This is a great restaurant!!! The way finer dining should be. I have been to this Ruth Chris' on several occasion. The food is always exceptional. The service is usually excellent. On this one Sunday night, they were clearly not prepared to handle the crowd they had. To the credit of the managers, it seemed as though every staff member made an attempt to keep all guests happy not an easy task in Bethesda Maryland. I saw two managers running from table to table, pouring water, clearing tables, etc. etc. I think they did a great job. I will be returning!!!
Steaks tasted as if they weren’t aged properly and had my whole party going straight to the bathroom when we all arrived home. Brussels sprouts were burnt and as the night traffic picked up our waiter became less and less attentive. We had to send the lamb entree back as it was way over cooked, to the point of well and we asked for medium. Then it came back rare. Not as good as other Ruth’s Chris’, was a disappointment.
This is our "go to" place and we went to celebrate our anniversary. The prep for us was fine but unexpectedly the steaks came out wrong, the sides were mediocre and the manager just kept apologizing. He said he deducted one of our drinks from the check - he did not. We called him back. I think it was just a bad day for the server and/or the chef. We will probably go to another location.
Food is always good here. The steaks were perfectly cooked and well-portioned. The sides were very tasty and plentiful! I chose a creme brulee for dessert (it may have been free for my birthday) and it was delicious. They decorated the table which made it quite festive. Very nice evening.
I had informed the restaurant that I would be celebrating a 20th anniversary. I requested an intimate table if at all possible. Though there were several available tables . . . we were sort of stuck at a two-top that felt like we were sitting in a hallway. Oh well.
