Ruth's Chris Steak House - Bethesda Ratings and Reviews
We made reservations for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised to find our table decorated for such. We've been to this restaurant many times and the food, as always, was excellent. The only challenge was that our service was spotty. The waiters were very nice and attentive however, they forgot to include the side dish we ordered, forgot our after dinner cappuccinos and brought my wife an amaretto sour instead of amaretto on the rocks as she had ordered as an after dinner drink. By the same token, I ordered some dessert but my wife did not. When they brought two spoons I figured they thought we'd share mine. To my surprise they brought a sampler of several of their dessert and both plates had Happy Anniversary written on them. The waiter then proceeded to pull a camera out of his pocket to take a picture of us. When he returned moments later he gave us a card signed by several of the staff and the card had the picture of us inside.
All in all it was a great meal, a nice celebration and we will continue to return again and again.
This restaurant is usually very good and the food is inconsistent. On Mother's Day the experience was very disappointing. Had to ask twice for bread, 3 times for butter. They forgot one person's meal. Another person's was cooked incorrectly. For the prices the service should be far better. Service at the bar at this location is very good. In the dining room it is typically average.
It was just ok nothing special. The food was just ok the salad didn't seem like the best quality. The chairs were super uncomfortable and old. And the room temperature was unbearably cold. We asked that they adjust it and I think they did but we couldn't wait to get out of there because of the environment.
I would recommend this location for anyone who may be celebrating an anniversary or simply in need of the perfect date night atmosphere. The wait staff was energetic and attentive. My only qualm is the lack of valet parking and the most available parking is more than 2 blocks away. Otherwise a very serene spot to grab a bight.
We used to go to Fogo de Chao for Easter, but ever since Fogo went public, they started shamelessly swapping out cheap cuts of sirloin for the tastier and better quality cuts of filet mignon and rib eye. Ruth's Chris looks to be our new go-to for holidays and birthdays. The steaks were nothing short of perfect, the sides were great. We will certainly be back.
The service wasn't all what I hoped it would be. The food at our table had to go back twice and that wasn't pleasing. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu but didn't seem to engaging with us at the table, and forgot to ask us how the food was once it came out. Overall I wouldn't come back to this location.
This location has always been my favorite Ruth's Chris. Not only is the food always outstanding but the ambience is great. If you are looking for somewhere to go with that "special person", this is it. Try the Porterhouse for Two and you won't be disappointed!
I have never written a review for open table before, but I feel compelled to do so this time. My mother in law chose this restaurant for her birthday, so my husband and took her out. What a disappointment! My biggest problem was that that we paid close to $400 for mediocre at best food. The porterhouse had a vein running through it, the crab app had pickled cumcumbees in it (a weird choice--simple would have been better), and the lobster bisque tasted like it came out of a can. Such a waste of money. They pander to people who think they are getting a fancy or classy meal! Foodies beware (but if you're a real foodie you already knew this). Service was good though!
Unfortunately both the service and food were subpar - definitely the worst steak house dining experience I've ever had. Despite calling ahead to request a round table for six, we were placed at a table for seven (not a problem except that we had to ask multiple times for the extra setting to be removed and both the hostess and waiter were rude in response). The steak (we got the filet and the porterhouse for two) were tasteless - cooked well but poor quality meat. The waiter was not friendly and, on top of that, spilled water on our grandmother. Despite the obvious issues, no offer to comp anything was made and no one working at the restaurant offered an apology. I would not recommend this Location to anyone and we will not be back.
Visited 2/14 7:45p.m. with 2 of my bestfriends for GALentines day, service was amazing and food was even better. It wasn't loud at all but it wasn't uncomfortably silent either. 2/3 of us ordered the Ruth's Classic deal and I must say that was a real steal for such great value. Upon leaving, we each received a rose and a $25 Ruth Chris giftcard from the hostess. Overall 10/10 experience , thanks Douglas for being a great waiter :) Will be back very soon.
This is an expensive, somewhat formal restaurant appropriate for special occasions. At the same time, it is remarkably welcoming and unpretentious. At our most recent visit, we did have a server who was a little snooty about one of our party ordering steak sauce. But he was otherwise very accommodating. And it's the only time we've run into that attitude at this restaurant. The friendly atmosphere is one reason we keep going back. That and the food is great.
I came for the steak and it was amazing but everything around it was lacking...literally. When you order a steak you only get a steak. For the prices paid, some side dishes should be included, even minimally. It would not have been as disappointing if our server hadn't forgotten to provide the complementary bread. The service was what you would expect at an Applebees not a top end steak house. I could tell the server was not properly trained because she did not know how to properly pour a glass of wine (wine etiquette is expected at a top end steak house). I had a much better experience at the downtown Ruth's Chris.
