William made us feel right at home.
Best steaks I have encountered. Great service, and really nice atmosphere. Friendly, professional staff, and a nice collection of wines.
Birthday dinner. Superior service
The steaks were great. But one diner's steak was overcooked and was taken back quickly. They provided a new meal fairly quickly.
We had a wonderful wedding anniversary dinner at Ruth's Chris in Bethesda. Thanks to William for his great service--he was kind, attentive, and the good service made our dinner extra special. We started off with the stuffed mushrooms, then had the leek soup, and I had the ribeye and lobster tail. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. We splurged and had a bottle of the Lan Culmen--I'd highly recommend it if you're not looking at the price. Thanks again for a great anniversary dinner!
It was our 6 year anniversary and my boyfriend And I went to celebrate him and the staff got together with strangers and he proposed to me !! Great restaurant and staff I highly recommend this restaurant .. Thanks for everything !!!
I’ve eaten at a lot of steakhouses and this experience was by far, okay at best.
First, I thought the hostess was rude. Then we were seated at an uncomfortably small table. The waiter was good, but kinda disappeared towards the end.
We were told the Cesar salad was enough to split between two people... it was tiny. The tomato and mozzarella salad was good.
Steaks were perfect. Shoestring potatoes were cold, mashed potatoes were gummy and Brussels were undercooked.
For a family of four, the bill was close to $500. With tip.
So many better steakhouses. I wouldn’t go back to this location.
We truly appreciate your feedback because it helps us improve. This is not at all the experience we aim to provide. So we can learn more, please consider sending us your contact information, including a phone number. Thank you!
Everything was great except both the NY strip and the lamb chops were not cooked to our request of medium-well.
Great service, great food and the ambiance was very good as well. We’re enjoyed our experience.
Valentine’s Day with William was the best. Fast quality service. Funny and energetic. Can’t wait to come back.
Thanks William! See ya soon
Our experience was great! Food was phenomenal and service was excellent, as always.
Made it special
Outstanding service by John!!
They had our table decorated for our birthday girl.
Everything was excellent; service, ambiance, food, and drink!
The server was excellent. We were there on a Saturday night with my daughter and wife. I forget the servers name tag but he was a very responsive gentleman and helpful. He wasn't pushy with the food but did recommend selections to us.
The usual great service at Ruth's. Food was of course exceptional and our waiter Nemer was the best!!!
Great and good.
Restaurant week is something I go to every year and Ruth Chris is always on the list. Nemer was good too and gave good advice.
We were kindly seated after we missed our reservation time. It was quite cold in the establishment. Seeing that it was winter cold out , a comparable warmed environment would’ve been nice since this wasn’t a fast food stop.
The food was subpar I ordered the scallops which were over cooked and looked as if they had fallen off the plate & been thrown back on as far as presentation. I usually enjoy my regular sides-sweet potato casserole and au gratin potatoes and the taste of both were simply off. Not sure if we were training a new chef back there but it was quite disappointing. Server was pleasant and responsive as was who I believe to be the manager.

Wonderful place for dining alone or with someone. I ordered the 11oz filet. It had a tad more "marble" than I was expecting, but tasted great. The experience was quite good overall.
I have dined at the Ruth's Chris in DuPont Circle in Washington, DC many time and each the filet was EXQUISITE.
I had dined at the Ruth's Chris in Bethesda several times before and the filet each time was EXQUISITE.
This time the filet was great, but not EXQUISITE.
I will return again!!!!!
The server was great. She provided a wonderful birthday experience.
Once again had a wonderful meal at Ruth's Chris with my daughter and her boyfriend. Good food, good drinks, good conversations and lots of laughs. What more could you possibly ask for?
Celebrating a Birthday
Came for dinner on a sat night with a group of guys. Ordered lobster bisque - came in very cold had to return to get it fixed noticed they used the same soup just probably microwaved it to make it hot - expect more from RC.
main course ordered scallops - couple of issues. 1st - 5 very small scallops. was not expecting more but was expecting Med/Large scallops. the scallops were way too small to consider an entrée. Also, the risotto was burned. sent it back - got back same cold scallops with new risotto
a manager or someone did come by and asked "can I do anything for you" - I was not in the mood to ask him to comp the meal - EXPECT a restaurant of this caliber to do it on its own.
I usually have a good experience at RC - this time in Bethesda was a pretty bad experience. will take some convincing for me to return to this RC, for that matter any RC.
SidO, thank you for your candid review. Please rest assured that in this Ruth's Chris, as well as all others, our intention is to provide the highest and finest quality with regard to both food and service, not to mention hospitality - much like Ruth would have done herself. Should you wish to discuss your concerns in greater detail, please reach out to us directly with your contact information including a phone number. Thank you!
Told them at reservation it was my birthday..tried to seat us at the worst table in the restaurant that was tiny and backed up to a wall that made it impossible to sit. Then they finally moved us it was obvious there were plenty of empty open tables and booths. The server was overwhelmed with too many tables and had to clear them too. We sat forever between each course. The side dishes tasted rewarmed and the bread was stale. She totally forgot it was my birthday and they were out of the 2 dished I Wanted to order. The bathrooms were dirty and falling apart . All in all a terrible and unfestive occasion.

Food is always outstanding! Service is top of the line!
The cooking was off the night we dined. My husband’s “medium” filet came out medium well, no visible pink anywhere on the meat. The server misremembered the sides we ordered and when she brought out the sweet potato casserole my husband ordered it was cold; the kitchen hadn’t bothered to heat the dish before serving. Overall a disappointing dining experience and far below what I expected for this price point.
NYE - bar area seating less than desirable. For the price, steak was okay, but creamed spinach and salad were average at best. We lost our waitress at some point. $256 for two seems a bit ridiculous- but my wife was happy and that’s all the counts.
Great experience and even proposed to my girlfriend there...thanks RC!
Best steak I had in a very long time. Excellent sides and desert as well. Service was not as crisp as usual, but the server was very busy on a New Year's eve.
Very delicious food, as always! My date has a gluten allergy, and we were given the option to choose from the regular dessert menu and still use the Ruth’s Classic New Year’s Eve 3-course meal! Thanks!
Slow service and the table they sat us in was tiny for five. I’d stick to other RC steakhouses.
Seafood tower is a must!
I took my girlfriend here for dinner on Christmas because I knew she would enjoy it, even though as a vegan I knew my options would be limited. I was shocked that of the 61 food items on the menu, the only ones that can be made vegan are some of the individual vegetable sides (like broccoli or french fries), a stripped-down salad, and sorbet. Even staples like bread and (secret) pasta have dairy and/or egg, and some of the vegetables are prepared in advance with animal products. It's almost like Ruth's Chris made a deliberate decision that they don't want vegans (or any group with a vegan) to dine there. Our order was taken 90 minutes after our reservation, we had to pay for the garage because there was no sign of the free valet, and our server was terrible, but those are flukes we'll chalk up to the holiday rush. The reason we won't be coming back is because there's nothing for vegans to eat that comes anywhere near parity with other customers.
I’d recommend RC only because it’s RC. Our server was not very attentive. My drink was very strong and didn’t have any other flavor other than alcohol. Upon him asking about our orders I informed him of the drink and he grabbed it and walked away. Never asked if I wanted something else or anything. The vents above us were so dusty. The walkway was so crowded between servers, trays of food, customers and more. Very tight restaurant. The food was good though.
We’ve been coming to Ruth’s Chris every year on Christmas Day for the past 5 years and we’ve seen he quality and service steadily decline. Our waiter was ok not rude or anything, but just ok. The steaks were good-sizzling hot and well cooked. The sides “to share” have gotten smaller and our au gratin potatoes were not done. The whole experience was just kind of “meh”-not the kind of feel we want for a holiday meal.
We’ve decided that our Christmas tradition of going to Ruth’s Chris is not going to be a tradition any longer.
We had a wonderful dinner on Christmas Day - lobster tails and a steak. We also loved the soup, sides, and dessert. Although the restaurant was busy, we had wonderful service from the staff. We will definitely go back another time.
This is our go-to holiday place for family gatherings. I’m not much for red meat so I get seafood and am always disappointed (very dry crab cakes, for example) but that’s what I get for ordering seafood at a steak place. Everyone else loves their meal, and I do enjoy the sides.
