Ruth's Chris Steak House - Austin
Ruth's Chris Austin is hands down the finest steak house in the capital city. Whether you would like to host a private gathering, relax in our lounge, or treat yourself to the best steak around - Ruth's Chris has it all. Come on down and see for yourself why the Austin American Statesman awarded us "Best Steak in Austin."
We were there for our anniversary but had to wait 25 minutes for our table - despite getting there just before our reservation at 8 pm. The food was excellent and our server was attentive, but there were so many other tables and diners packed in near us that it was quite noisy. Not the romantic dinner we had envisioned unfortunately. We did still leave a 30% tip because the server was good, the table was pretty with rose petals and the late seating wasn’t his fault, but we wished he could’ve offered us a free appetizer or something for waiting so long.
It was our first trip to Ruth’sChris and it didn’t disappoint!!
everything exceeded expectations, as well as our server - Shalee, for our daughter's birthday celebration
Absolutely the most tender filet ever. The service, ambiance, food outstanding. Yes it is expensive but worth every penny. If you want the best, go to Ruth Chris 😊👍
Great food and great service. We had a group of eight and we could all talk to each other as it was not too loud.
Everything was beautiful.. the service was outstanding & the food was delicious!
Very nice meal!
My wife and I used to love going to the Ruth’s in Austin from the days when our daughter went to UT. It was a ‘must-do’ almost every trip.
We spent the weekend there at the Driskill and decided to try it again- for old times sake. I have to say it was a mistake!
The steak wasn’t great - too grisly- the shrimp cocktail was poor and the service was awful! The highlights were the spinach and the Brandy Alexander’s. I even picked a bad wine!
This ain’t the Ruth’s we remember or loved. It’s not even close to other locations in being a top spot for date night!
They seem to have lost the connections to the ‘mother ship’ and gone the way of a franchise poorly run! It’s too bad because we will miss the old spot! There are just too many great locations in Austin to put up with BAD!
We went for our anniversary and everything was top notch. A tremendous experience all around.
Food was great (as usual) Made a reservation for 8:30pm, Hostess said they were "running behind" and it would be 15 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes, I approached the booth and inquired how much longer. Hostess said she wasn't sure and "Jorge" rudely interrupted and asked what the name of the party was. When I told him he said our table was ready in a very rude and unprofessional manner. I've visited and celebrated multiple occasions with Ruth Chris in LA, Vegas, Anaheim with never any problems. "Jorge" really needs a few classes in customer service, especially if he wishes to continue working for an "Upscale Restaurant"
Manager was arrogant. Service was below par. Food was very good
As always food was top notch. Our server, Marco took very good care of us. We had a great time.
We love Ruth's Chris for a nice date night. Perfectly cooked steaks on a sizzling plate with delectable appetizers, soups, salads and sides - what's not to love. We always get great service and attention too. The wine list is a little pricier than it should be for some fairly common wines, but that's probably to be expected at most fine dining establishments.
Everything was amazing. We started with the calimari as an appetizer and it was the best I have ever had. My wife and I both had the fillet with lobster for our entree and they both melted in our mouth. Our sides were the lobster Mac and cheese and asparagus. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and we’re too stuffed for dessert, but they brought us a small salted caramel cheese cake with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. It was a lovely evening and my wife and I cannot wait to come back again.
Never a disappointment, Ruth’s Chris food and service is impeccable!
Expensive, but so delicious! Patient staff and the manager even gave us some gifts as we were celebrating our engagement at the restaurant.
Overall it was OK. My wife and I ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out well done. They did take it back but having an over cooked steak at a restaurant of this prestige was a first. The apps and sides were nothing to write home about. The seafood tower didn't come with melted butter but maybe that's just my personal preference. The crab Mac n cheese and brussel sprouts were also mediocre. The service we OK although there were plenty of times my water was empty and the server on several occasions the waitress disrupted a pleasant conversation between my wife and I to ask repeatedly about how the food was. There was one point in the meal where I accidentally knocked over my glass of wine and the server put napkins over the table and did not offer me a courtesy pour. Not that it wasn't my fault but at the cost of a meal like this I feel like it would have been good customer service. Or at least clear the table and bring a new table cloth instead of napkins. Overall I feel like this place was entirely over priced for the quality of the food and service and I would not recommend it.
V Day dinner. This WAS NOT the Chef's best night. All food elements for both diners not up to par. Rib eye at $57 bucks was one of the most disappointing steaks I've eaten in Austin. It was not cooked even close to requested medium rare (note this place serves food on extremely hot food plate and anything on it will continue to cook well after it gets to your table, they apparently haven't figured this out) The two lobster tails were over cooked probably came out just marginal and then plate cooked to pure rubber texture. Sides fair but a loaded baked potato had a teaspoon of each topping and visually looked like they were scrimping to cut corners. For 10 bucks that sucker needs to be spilling over with toppings. Man it's hard to think I would return here for a $100 buck a person plate of food with one drink. Too many other places in Austin where meat is higher quality and cooked correctly. Final tip to this place put the food on a regular size plate and not the smaller ones you use. I get that you want the food to look plentiful but when your steak comes on a salad plate it looks ridiculously like you ran out of regular plates or that your dishwasher was out taking a smoke break. Sorry guys.
We had a reservation at 8 and did not get seated till 8:30. Food was good but not remarkable. Server was attentive and treated us well. For amount of money spent I would prefer to go to another restaurant.
Made reservations 2-3 weeks prior. Arrived and waited at bar for our name to be called. We were called in about 5 mins before our reservation. As we walked to be seated, we enjoyed the beautiful ambiance of the dining room and then were lead in and seated in what appeared to be a meeting room. Zero ambiance and just felt we were set aside. I complained to the waiter, he said he totally understood but fir some reason they were busier than usual. There was more ambiance in a Denny’s than this room. The food was good, service great, but doubt I’ll ever return as I felt that my wife and I were not appreciated as guests. Then while waiting for our car, we spoke to the Valet. I asked him if it was always this busy, he said No, it’s pretty quiet. I said I was surprised as after the remodel it was beautiful. He said, no and that he felt that the food was better at Bob’s. I said I liked Bob’s as well and due up our seating would not come back and probably goes to Bob’s. He said the Valet service also works at Bob’s then said the kitchen at Bob’s is very clean, but not clean at Ruth Chris, which turned my wife’s stomach wondering about the preparation of our food. So, one nite reason not to return to Ruth Chris.
The entire experience was exceptional with the exception of the maitre d, he was rude and terse with us.
I ordered steak medium rare ( warm red center on sizzling plate). The steak came out rare with cold center on a cold plate. I did send back and then it came back right on a sizzling hot plate. Hence the main reason to go to Ruth's Chris.
Excellent food and service!
One of favorite restaurants for a special occasion. Never fails to deliver. An absolute gem.
I love Ruths Chris. The food is terrific. But I would suggest one improvement. Please sharpen the steak knives. The knife was so dull I could not cut my delicious ribeye so I did not finish it. I had to take home. My experience is that this is an issue in many restaurants, not just RC. It will not hinder me going back! Thanks
They could take lessons on service from New Orleans Ruth’s Chris.
My parents went to Ruth’s Chris for their 60th wedding anniversary and their dinner was absolutely perfect!! The food, the service, the note written in chocolate on the dessert plate and the red rose petals scattered on the table...were beyond what I had imagined for them. Thank you for taking care of them and for seeing that their night was one they will never forget!
Everything was perfect 💕
Both steaks were cooked in correctly they sent complimentary drinks over which we did not want
Now here is where you should eat if you want a memorable meal. Austin is a filthy nasty city, but Ruth Chris Steakhouse, amazing. I've eaten at different Ruth Chris Steakhouse's and I have never been disappointed. Top notch. Money well spent.
“It was delicious.” My girlfriend
And I second her wordy review. The bread was fresh. And the lump crab avocado appetizer was fantastic.
There was no hot toddy listed on the server had one made up with “extra love” and the woman loved it.
I had the 8 oz filet with blue cheese crust. It was fantastic.
Their lobster Mac and cheese was great as well.
Service was charming and polite as usually. Next time I’m in Austin, I’ll be back.
Great food great service Natalie was a great server
Love the new bar setup but miss the lounge feeling in the old bar
This was one of the best experiences we have had here. Michael was perfect and exceeded our expectations. We will be back.
They did a great job, on short notice, on a very busy night, to take care of our party. Thanks!
Quality food; quiet atmosphere. Exquisite...quite enjoyable!
My husband and I love a good steak. I’m a purest when it comes to steaks. However, Marco, our waiter, recommended the bile cheese crust. It was amazing!!!
Lisa our waitress was fantastic. She made the entire evening a delight!
We have been to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse before but this was by far our best experience. Highly recommend if you go, ask for Lisa.
