My husband and I love a good steak. I’m a purest when it comes to steaks. However, Marco, our waiter, recommended the bile cheese crust. It was amazing!!!

Lisa our waitress was fantastic. She made the entire evening a delight!

We have been to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse before but this was by far our best experience. Highly recommend if you go, ask for Lisa.

We made reservations to eat here but could not stay for the duration of the meal due to our child not feeling well. We left before the waiter brought out any of the food, and asked for the food to go. We spent a tremendous amount to receive food that wasn’t edible. My husbands steak was completely raw and 90% fat, he requested medium rare and received pretty much completely raw meat. Was red even on the outer edges. We were there for 15 mins total, spent $250 plus $50 tip and came home to this. We spoke to the manager and never heard back after sending in pictures of the disgusting meal. Complete ripoff and terrible service.

Was supposed to be Christmas dinner for two of us: Reservation @ 7:45pm.
Sat us at 8:15p.
They were out of bread, Filet Mignons, lobster, etc.........
Very disappointing.

By 10pm, still didn’t have our food order to us yet as well as other people too. I’ve never had that kind of experience anywhere before. So mad we went there.

The manager did pick up our tab for the drinks we got, which was total of four drinks.

We’ll likely not go there again.

I will start off by saying that I took my family to this same location last year for Christmas Day dinner and was incredibly impressed with both the food and service, especially the service. Our waitress was amazing and made our holiday dinner event very special. Which is why I decided to return this year again with my family, but we had a much different experience.

I wrote a longer review but this system could not accept. Therefore I will summarize.

- Valet Service - was not very polished, was a bit nervous about handing over the keys
- Had reservation but we were seated 25 minutes after the reservation
- My grandmother is 88 years old and uses a walker, they seemed to think it was fine to leave her standing in the lobby. I had to ask for a chair so she could sit down.
- Waiter was not professional at all. Vastly different experience than from last year.
- They were out of a number of items including bread and 6oz and 8oz filets
- Drink order/wine order took nearly 15 minutes to arrive at the table after ordering
- Dinner's main course took nearly 1 hour 45 minutes to arrive at the table after ordering
- Never returned to check on our meal.
- Food was actually quite good but while the steaks were seasoned quite well, the quality of the meat did not seem up the quality expected for the prices and the venue and especially for what we have come to expect from Ruth Chris in the past.
- Evening was plagued with delays but yet no one apologized for it, no visit by an apologetic manager.
- The most helpful person we had all night was the bus boy helping us remove the plates from the table and box the left overs. He was very nice and very helpful.

Just all and all this visit was very disappointing. We have been very pleased in previous visits but this one was not on par at all. Was very unfortunate.

Their Christmas Day operation is disastrous. They ran out of more than half of the items on the menu, from lobster tails down to breads and blue cheese dressing. Waited ~2hrs for the steak.

Christmas Day. After waiting 1/2 hour after our appointed reservation time given the very last table in the very back room when there were plenty of open booths in the front. When I asked the hostess if we could sit up front she very definitively said NO turned and walked away. They were 1 hour and 1/2 behind, and out of a large portion of the menu. Steak ordered medium rare came out completely raw after waiting over an hour since ordering. They were even out of bread to offer. Managers arguing with customers. Managers arguing with each other in front of customers. Customers walking out. Bathroom flooded. Then charged full price (including for the raw steak). Told the manager wouldn’t do anything about it after I asked why we were being charged full price for inedible food. After asking to speak to the manager (who never did show up) the steak was taken off the bill. Have always had a 5 star experience at any Ruth’s Chris I’ve visited. Just dumbfounded...

The server informed us of everything they were out of: 6oz and 8 oz filet,bread, certain wines and several other things. She would not allow my daughter and I to split the 11oz filet, which we had to order because they were out of the smaller cuts. So we each had to order. I ordered medium rare, I received very rare. 2 other members of my party had to send back their entrees because they were wrong. 3 of the 6 of us were served incorrect cocktails. We waited over 2 hours at the table for our meal. We got our salads an hour before the meal. No bread. Server was inattentive, not the normal level of service we have experienced in the past. We left at 9:30 for a 6:15 reservation. Server did not offer to comp anything for a $700 meal plus tip. Very disappointing.

Ruth’s Chris has always been our go-to place for GREAT steak. It has lots of other great things also! That said, they could improve on: the lighting per table and the temperature in the room. It’s a basically good place and you will pay for that. Worth it. Not complaining.

Restaurant has a great atmosphere. Elegant but hip. The service was pretty good but not the best. I may have arrived with high expectations because of all that I had heard about the restaurant but again, didn't blow my mind. The food was excellent but not much of a presentation. Crab cakes, shrimp, and steak were around the table. Entree dishes were nice and hot. Very hot actually. Back to presentation....I've come to learn that we eat with our eyes first. Presentation is key. None here. Everything is ordered main entree and sides seperate. Delicious soft and creamy mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts were our chosen sides. Served warm/cool. Not as hot as one might like. Sides come in a shareable portion that are very generous in size. A great martini was a nice addition to dinner. Very good. Not all martinis are created equal. This martini was on point. Overall, a nice restaurant with good food but not tongue slap your brains out great either.

Bottom line - Food and service was lacking, and staff were disorganized. Details - We typically dine here for special occasions or holidays and we made a reservation two weeks ago for Christmas Eve. Well past our reservation time we were led to a table that had dishes stacked on it and were told to go back to the bar to wait. After it was cleaned, we were led back to the table. We waited another ten minutes for a gluten free menu and had to ask repeatedly for water (throughout the dining experience). After ordering, our food was just okay (over-done and over-salted) - not very good, like every time before. While half of the table was still eating, the server began taking away the dishes. I had to ask the server to give back a dish that I was literally eating from. Also, a manager (?) paced the entire evening with a clipboard checking on every table - never greeting anyone - just checking on status - to get us all finished and out in order to seat more people? So, after an expensive check was dropped on our table, we paid and left. The valet was the best experience of the evening - those guys were friendly and efficient.

The mood was set as soon as we walked in the door.I know it was Christmas Eve and not everyone loves working during the holiday but one can still be nice. When I approached the hostess stand to check in for our reservation, she didn’t greet me at all, just stood there and started at me. When I said we had a reservation she replied with “Name” and then stated they are running behind. There were no chairs for anyone sit and wait in and my 74 year old mother can’t stand for long periods of time. She asked the hostess for a chair and stated why she needed it and the hostess said “I’ll have to ask my manager.” In a crappy tone of course. The manager happily brought a chair over for my mom. We waited about 10 minutes more and asked when our table would be ready and the same hostess said we were next but she then proceeded to sit two other parties with a similar size group who got there after us. When we were finally seated, our waiter came pretty quickly but he looked like he rolled in a bottle of grease before coming to work and he looked unkept. He did an ok job as our waiter. Our food was not as good as I was hoping. When you are going to a restaurant of this level, you expect top rated service and friendly staff. We just didn’t get that. We dine out on Christmas Eve every year to different restaurants in the downtown area and this was by far the worst experience. I won’t be going back even on a regular day.

Very impressed with the remodel. Busy holiday night so I will give a pass for a mediocre experience. 3 of 4 filets were over cooked — 2 medium were medium well and one medium rare was medium to medium plus. When steaks were delivered it was 3-5 minutes before waiter circled back to check on steaks. To their credit they offered to redo but we passed due to time constraints. Host comped a desert to apologize. A native of New Orleans and a long time fan of RC .. I know it can be better!
Start with a smile and engagement from the host and a more attentive wait staff.
I will give another try at some point

We made reservations online one week in advance. Specifically requested a quiet table. We were seated in arguably the loudest, highest trafficked table in the restaurant - it was uncomfortable all night. Right next to the wine storage where the expert in wine banged around all evening reaching around our guests. Great food. Bummer service, awkward.

We always turn to Ruth's Chris for our special evenings out. The food, service and atmosphere are consistently great. We especially love hitting happy hour in the bar and having the pomegranate martini and the spicy shrimp appetizer prior to dinner. This visit, as always, did not disappoint. Our steaks were cooked as ordered and served on a sizzling hot plate. The lobster tails paired with steak was a great addition.

A friend and I have made this a birthday spot for years and they have never disappointed. We have never had an issue with the quality of the food, service, or requested doneness of our steaks. It may be a chain but it is a great chain for us.

Total dining experience lasted for over 2 hours, mainly because the main entrees took at least 40 minutes after the appetizer was delivered. Then when it came time to check out, she did not remove the gift card from the bill, even though she had it and had processed it to see how much was on the card. Then it took another 20 minutes to get it straightened out. Overall, meal was delicious, although the side of Brussels sprouts was small for $10. To top it off, it took another 20 minutes to get our car from the valet. Won't be back, takes long enough to drive downtown, pay to valet, then too long to dine, and leave. I don't want to spend 4 hours on going out to dinner.

30th anniversary dinner. Ruth’s Chris made it special...rose petals on table, etc. Incredible food. Pro tip: the sides are shareable-size!

My entire experience at Ruth's was, to say the least outstanding. The service was impeccable, they were notified it was for a birthday prior to our arrival and the table was littered with birthday confetti. The food was incredible, the 16oz. steak almost melted in my mouth and despite being a large serving I worked my way through a delicious serving of mashed potatoes. We had a great Malbec from my favorite region in Argentina. (Mendoza) Overall terrific time! Would recommend 10/10, bring your wallet it will be pricy but worth it.

Overall service was good and recommended wine was excellent. But when All steaks where over cooked, things went south quickly. Sent two back. Manager delivers replacements, but did not apologize for ruining dinner nor did steaks get comped. Ruth’s Chris is typically wonderful, but I would not recommend the Austin location. Management problems around every corner, ambiance and environment do not meet high end steak house quality. With allot of choices in this space, I would make another choice next time. This is the last time for us at Ruth’s Chris in Austin.
