Ruth's Chris Steak House - Asheville Ratings and Reviews
I dined here Sunday evening to celebrate the engagement of a dear friend, along with her other closest friends. Jonathan provides us with excellent service. This was the first time they had experienced fine dining. Every bite and sip was exceptional. You can never go wrong with Ruth’s Chris- the steak simply melts in your mouth.
We wound up at Ruth Chris after a disappointing start to the evening at another restaurant. We were immediately greeted, offered drinks and appetizers. Our waiter Steve was nothing short of amazing! He saved our Valentine’s Day! Thanks Steve! Always great food and a pleasant place to dine.
We were greeted and seated promptly. I had requested a quiet booth and we got a perfect one. Our waiter, Jonathan, was outstanding. He recommended the BBQ crab as an accompaniment to our steaks and it was excellent! Our steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered. Jonathan also recommended an excellent wine which was reasonably priced. The sides (asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach) were very good and plenty to share. The dessert was a duo of chocolate cheesecake and bread pudding and it was decadently delicious. All in all, it was a wonderful evening. Ruth’s Chris is definitely expensive, but for special occasions and a special treat, it’s the place to go. Consistently excellent!
Having eaten many times in the original Ruth's Chris in New Orleans, I was skeptical about the Asheville version. I shouldn't have been. The steaks were as good as ever, the service excellent, and the cocktails wonderful, with live mellow music. Just what a steakhouse experience should be.
Very nice place to eat, clean and very good impression. The food is very good, but it is very pricey. Special menus at certain times of the year make the dining experience more affordable. Alcoholic drinks are extremely overpriced. A local draft beer cost $8 (ridiculous). No other place I have gone charges more than $5 for a 16 oz draft beer. The cost of an average bottle of wine was $34, also ridiculous.
I would advise Ruth's Chris not to price gouge their customers.
We were disappointed a dress code wasn’t enforced. On a Saturday night, seeing men in well-worn jeans and untucked shirts made the restaurant more casual than one expects when ordering $50 steaks and similarly priced sides, salads, and soups. Additionally, the steaks were thinner and average in quality. On a positive note, the cocktails were interesting, our server was attentive and pleasant, and the ambience was upscale.
Kinda disappointed in my visit. My husband and I usually go to the Ruth Chris in Charlotte by the Southpark mall and have always loved everything that came to our table. The restaurant is beautiful and our server was wonderful, but I just didn’t think my meal was as good as the Southpark Ruth Chris. I ordered Salmon that was supposed to come on a bed of sautéed spinach. My salmon, which usually comes med well, was well done and served on a plate of sloppy looking raw spinach. It was busy, so I just ate it. Normally the desserts are exceptional, but our cheesecake looked like a store bought cheesecake, and tasted like it too. So disappointing but maybe I’ll just stick to Charlotte if I want Ruth Chris again.
We had such a fantastic experience at Ruth's Chris for he 2018 Restaurant week. It's the one time of year we can afford the full experience at this wonderful restaurant. Wish we could eat here all the time! The staff we phenomenal, food was amazing, and the wine list was perfect. THANK YOU!!
Excellent meal and service as always. We had to wait 40 minutes past our reservation time and the bar and lobby area were both overflowing with others waiting to be seated. It was Restaurant Week in Asheville and Ruth’s Chris offered special three course dinners so it was very busy for a midweek evening in the winter. Nonetheless, once we were seated the food and drinks were delicious and Sarah and her assistant were terrific. Good job!
We usually go 2 times during restaurant week. The last 3 times we have gone, my husbands steak has been undercooked (ordered medium). This specific time it was rare, not even close to medium. We are not ones to complain or be picky about our food at all, but it is a STEAKhouse, so we would hope they would be cooked correctly. We have another reservation for Saturday, but I’m not sure we will keep it. So disappointing because we always look so forward to eating there. Everything else tasted wonderful.
We went for a dessert date. We were seated quickly and since we knew exactly what we wanted we were able to get our order in quickly. Our cheesecake arrived quickly and we were able to enjoy the cheesecake as well as each other’s company and not feel like the waiter was hovering. It was an excellent way to end date night.
Perhaps Ruth Chris should reevaluate their customer service policy. Four of us attended Ruth Chris during restaurant week. We were seated in an alcove next to a couple who complained loudly and constantly about their food. While we were satisfied with our dinners, it was very obvious that the people who were complaining were getting all of the attention. We were basically ignored while four different servers doted upon the customers at the other table...including the manager. We ran out of water. We ran out of wine. We were never offered coffee or a drink with our dessert. No one seemed to notice. When all was said and done, we paid full price for our meal, and the other table received everything complimentary. Unbelievable. We left a nice tip, even though we weren't attended to as we should have been. While we felt sorry for the waiters and manager who were trying to appease the unhappy couple next to us, we wish they had spent a little more time at our table taking care of our needs..or at least apologizing for the obvious lack of service due to the disruption. We were the ones paying full price for our meals! The other table didn't leave a tip or pay for anything at all.
Ralph, or waiter, was amazing as usual. We always request to be seated in his area and are never disappointed. Such a great guy!
The food was nothing short or great. Steaks cooked to perfection. Salads with homemade dressings, great sides and an awesome dessert... What's not to like?
Towards the end of our dining experience there were a couple of tables that got pretty loud... One particular gentleman evidently wanted the whole restaurant to hear him, which I'm sure they did. But we went later than we usually do so I guess that's too be expected.
Overall great experience!
First we booked for 7pm. We were there right at 7, we were put inti a wait and werent sat until 7:30. Candy was our waitress and at first was very attentive, but in the middle of the main course we were left without service for at least 20 mins. I ordered 1 tea and we were brought 2 and charged for it as well. If it wouldn't of been for the service and wait after making a RSVP, then I would've rated higher.
