Ruth's Chris Steak House - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
I reserved a table to 12 for NYE and our party ended up being 16 and they were able to accommodate us all in the same area. The food (as always) is superb and that was only made better by the ambiance, if you have already dined with Ruth's Chris, you already know, if not, it will be worth it...Enjoy
We requested a window table through Open Table. When we got there, there were MANY available tables, but they refused to seat us near a window, even thought we had requested that through Open Table. The hostess said that they "do not read Open Table comments or requests." Alex, the person who walked us to our table told us that they would not put 2 tables together along the window to accommodate our party of 6 "because of the fire code." That was not true because we would have had fewer chairs in the aisle than the way the tables were set up for parties of 4. Alex, who had mentioned that he knew that it was our wedding anniversary then sarcastically said, "would you rather that we split your party." For a +$400 dinner, we preferred to be together, thank you anyway. The manager moved us to a different room, but I was still hurt and aggravated that the window tables all sat empty on that Thursday evening. I have had several wonderful evenings at this restaurant, but am so disappointed that I will not return and will not recommend this location in the future.
The food was great, no complaints there! Overall though the experience wasn't outstanding. Nothing about the space or staff made it feel very welcoming. My biggest complaint was the seating....I get it's busy on a holiday, but who positions a table to face a pillar? When I asked for a different table, I received major attitude from our hostess. We were sat elsewhere thankfully at a better location, but without the attitude would've been nice . I've been to better Ruth's Chris Steakhouses where I've felt the atmosphere is more inviting and won't be coming back here.
We have gone to this restaurant many times. The food has always been very good. The time before this time we made a reservation and were instructed many times over about their dress code ...weird. This time we were seated in an awful spot near the waiters and they kept bumping into our chairs knocking our purses off and talking and yelling to each other over us. Pretty much the worst seat in the house. And there seem to be many tables open although it was incredibly busy Christmas Day. We have been to many different Ruth Chris restaraunts in different states and have always had impeccable service. This place seems to be lacking in that area! Ordered drinks they forgot them...check took forever! We will try Tysons next time. Maybe better?
We came here for a special dinner with our mother-in-law. The food and service were great. My complaint was that there was a set-up station (with extra plates, napkins, ...) set up right behind my mother-in-laws chair. Staff members stood behind her and had conversations and there was a constant flow of traffic over to this set up station. We all found it very disruptive.
My only other comment would be that the serving plates should be bigger. The meat took up the whole plate and there was no where to put the sides we ordered. We ended up getting up ourselves getting one of the small plates each from the set-up station (I guess that was a good part about having it there!!) - but there were lots of plates on the table then.
My wife and I have made Ruth Chris our Christmas Day tradition spot for dinner 4 years ago. This was the first time we took our 10yr old grandson along with us and he enjoyed himself. I thank them for having a children’s menu. My wife loves the ribeye with crumbled blue cheese. Ruth Chris hit a home run for 2017!
We selected Ruth's Chris for our Christmas Eve family dining as we have done in prior years. We were very disappointed, the ambience was lacking, there were delays in service (not due to the wait staff who were very attentive). Our filets were not cooked as ordered. We did not inform our wait staff since it took so long to get our meal, we didn't want another delay.
Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait nearly 20 minutes for a table. We requested far in advance to sit by a window, which didn’t happen, even with plenty of open tables by windows. Once seated, we weren’t greeted by staff for 30 minutes. My wife and I ordered steaks, both over cooked. In fear of it taking another 30 minutes for them to correct the steak temp, we just ate it and paid as quickly as possible.
Under renovations so that wasn't helpful in setting the mood...appearance gave a dirty feel. The entrance from the elevator was in terrible need of cleaning. Coffee spilled on the wall wasn't due to renovations. Food was just okay... I know many places do "family style" sides however, if you are with a mixed group, it's awkward. I like my own food on my plate. Speaking of plates, they served the food on the plates that came directly from the oven....HOT is an under statement. There wasn't a second plate under so there's really have no way to move the plate closer if not placed correctly in front of you, not cool. What was cool was watching airplanes take off and land. Overall not impressed....
The dinner was amazing. The service was great. The restaurant will recognize your special dinner with a free desert. It was our Anniversary and I didn't even ask for the waiter to bring the desert with a candle. Such a memorable moment. Be sure to mark the occasion on Open Table App.
The creamed spinach was cold. The steaks were not what I am used to at Ruth’s Chris (and I started with the original in NOLA). The shoe string potatoes were over-cooked. The Brussels sprouts were, in contrast, very good. The “best dessert,” creme brûlée, was a bland, almost tasteless, vanilla. The service was good, although we waited a long time for our check. In short, a disappointing dinner for the price.
We've lived in the neighborhood for 25 years but had never tried Ruth's Chris Steak House, so we spontaneously decided to give it a go this past weekend. Meh. The decor looks like one might expect from a mid-range chain hotel's restaurant, which was an immediate turn-off. The food? I'm a long-time vegetarian, but I'd seen some okay-looking vegetarian side dishes on the menu online and so was willing to give it a shot with my meat-eating friends. Well, the mac and cheese was among the worse I've ever had - drowning in Velveeta-like cheese and weirdly spiced with janopeños - and the iceberg wedge's dressing tasted like it had come straight from a bottle of mass-produced blue cheese dressing, not something fresh and tangy. My meet-eating friend thought her steak was okay, but she was disappointed afterward that there weren't any add-on sauces. When I mentioned that I'd seen several add-on sauce options on the menu, she was irritated that our server hadn't pointed them out or suggested one to her. I ordered two cocktails over the course of the evening and, although they were the same cocktail, they tasted completely different - no consistency in the bar's recipes. So, we can now check this off our neighborhood-dining bucket list, but we won't be going back.
My experience at this location tends to be touch and go. My food was great which is always good. The service was so-so. The waiting times for the server got to be pretty long at times. The prosecco wasn't cold and the waiter's attentiveness was off and on. Definitely not the worse but not exactly the Ruth's Chris standard I've grown accustomed to.
