Ruth's Chris Steak House - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
We've lived in the neighborhood for 25 years but had never tried Ruth's Chris Steak House, so we spontaneously decided to give it a go this past weekend. Meh. The decor looks like one might expect from a mid-range chain hotel's restaurant, which was an immediate turn-off. The food? I'm a long-time vegetarian, but I'd seen some okay-looking vegetarian side dishes on the menu online and so was willing to give it a shot with my meat-eating friends. Well, the mac and cheese was among the worse I've ever had - drowning in Velveeta-like cheese and weirdly spiced with janopeños - and the iceberg wedge's dressing tasted like it had come straight from a bottle of mass-produced blue cheese dressing, not something fresh and tangy. My meet-eating friend thought her steak was okay, but she was disappointed afterward that there weren't any add-on sauces. When I mentioned that I'd seen several add-on sauce options on the menu, she was irritated that our server hadn't pointed them out or suggested one to her. I ordered two cocktails over the course of the evening and, although they were the same cocktail, they tasted completely different - no consistency in the bar's recipes. So, we can now check this off our neighborhood-dining bucket list, but we won't be going back.
My experience at this location tends to be touch and go. My food was great which is always good. The service was so-so. The waiting times for the server got to be pretty long at times. The prosecco wasn't cold and the waiter's attentiveness was off and on. Definitely not the worse but not exactly the Ruth's Chris standard I've grown accustomed to.
My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary and went there because it's one of my wife's favorite restaurants. The staff created a festive atmosphere that we greatly enjoyed. Our meal was fantastic from salad to dessert. We had a wonderful evening and will go back again and again!
I didn’t enjoy this visit. I left the Tyson’s area to come to this particular location. The service was very lackluster as was the food and drinks. I couldn’t believe I was being served a sidecar on the rocks in a rocks glass. I feel this location is lacking the sophistication it once had. I won’t be returning.
After hearing about this restaurant for years,I was extremely disappointed in the food and the service. My family and I went here for Thanksgiving and this is a special occasion for most people. Our reservation was for 7:30 and evidently this was late because the food was soggy and disgustingly luke warm. It was definitely not straight from the oven and not even microwaved to a decent temperature. The food was bland and tasteless, totally unseasoned. Except for the yam casserole...which could have induced diabetes.
Equally unacceptable, out waiter would go missing in action for long periods and totally forgot my drink order with dinner. For those of you who indulge in bead before the meal on special occasion, they are very stingy with the bread. The waiter actually brought out one mini loaf of french bread for 3 people.
Do not waste time and money on overpriced terrible food and definitely not for a special occasion.
We went for Thanksgiving because we heard Ruth Chris had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Plus, in the past we had wonderful dining experience at Ruth Chris. But this time was horrible. The meals were brought out before we received our appetizers. And once we received our meals they were cold.
The waiter was nice but he was overwhelmed so the service was bad.
Server timing was way off. Took ages to get to order a pre-meal cocktail, then to order meals and wine to accompany meals. Meals came out before cocktails, about forty minutes after placing our order. Had ages to eat salads before main courses finally arrived. By then our group just wanted to leave. Packed up half of our dinners, skipped the birthday cake (came to celebrate two birthdays), and left. Looked like busy servers everywhere around us, I just suppose they need to work on timing with the bar and kitchen. (Ate here a month ago and had a great flawless dinner.)
The steak was good. Everything else was not good. We had brussel Sprouts, lionized potatoes and other side dishes and none of them were good. We had the same experience at other Ruth's Chris restaurants. We had not been for several years and we thought they might improve. Nope
With Open Table we were sat right away. Staff was fantastic. The waiter may have a been a little too busy, wasn’t very attentive to our table. I had to request twice for my water to be refilled, anywhere else no big deal, but Ruth Chris I expect to not see the bottom of my glass. The food was beyond perfection. Amazing Rib Eye, great wine selection and value. I’ll be back without question!
We hadn’t dined at this location since last year. The restaurant looks extremely dated. Everything looked very old including the furniture/booths. They are apparently undergoing some renovations so it made the ambiance even more unpleasant. Very surprised that they have waited so long to update the restaurant especially considering that Ruth’s Chris is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. The food was great and the service was very good overall. We will probably wait at least 6 months before going back.
I really enjoy myself every time I dine here. The food is always amazing and the service is on point. But this time the server rubbed me the wrong way he lied to me about swiping my card. I told him my chip didn't work and he need to slide it , and he said I tried that so I gave it to another young lady who said she had to give my card to her boss to manually enter it because they are not allowed to swipe. Plus my seat I requested wasn't honored after someone called me and assured me I would have the seat I requested .
I’m very disappointed with this visit because the staff was less than professional and the restaurant appearance is not as classy as before. I’ve been coming to this location for many of my past birthdays and even had my parent’s 50th anniversary party here. When I was taken to my table, the staff was not too friendly when I questioned the table choice which was in a tight location. A man with crocs, a t-shirt, and what appeared to be camouflage pants delivered my appetizer. The server was nice but brought me a ribeye steak instead of the porterhouse I ordered. Once I received the correct food it appeared that the mashed potatoes were rewarmed because they were hot on the surface but only warm in the middle. This location is not as desirable as you would expect for a Ruth’s Chris. I definitely will not be dinning at this location again nor would I recommend it.
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful experience. I was celebrating my anniversary and checked reviews of several steakhouses in the DC Area and finally decided to go with, in my opinion, one of the best EVER, Ruth’s Chris. Although the restaurant is being renovated (much needed in some aspects) I still enjoyed the scenery and ambiance offered by way of the 11th Floor dining area overlooking the Reagan National Airport. Service was excellent, drinks were AMAZING and our meal was simply perfect. I recommend this place for Birthday’s, Anniversaries or even Happy Hour. Two things I noticed, the restroom needs a major upgrade and the thermostat is extremely dated as well. I’m sure these things are on the list to be renovated though. Will definitely be returning, sooner than later!
It was our 2 year wedding anniversary. Our food came out in a timely manner and the waiter, Teddy remembered us from the last visit we had there. He has a very cool personality and he recommended a few different cocktails for us. Everything was great Teddy even bought out a happy Anniversary dessert for us
Very disappointed. Open Table could not accommodate our time so we had to go at 6. The restaurant was not even 1/2 full the entire time we were there (almost 2 hours) so no idea why we would not have been able to get a 7PM reservation.
Call prior to my reservation warned us about the dress code (business casual)-but most diners did not follow.
The restaurant is UNDER RENOVATION and felt like a banquet hall. No ambience at all.
Spent over $500 on dinner.
Would not go back again unless to eat at the bar.
