Ruth's Chris Steak House - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
Server timing was way off. Took ages to get to order a pre-meal cocktail, then to order meals and wine to accompany meals. Meals came out before cocktails, about forty minutes after placing our order. Had ages to eat salads before main courses finally arrived. By then our group just wanted to leave. Packed up half of our dinners, skipped the birthday cake (came to celebrate two birthdays), and left. Looked like busy servers everywhere around us, I just suppose they need to work on timing with the bar and kitchen. (Ate here a month ago and had a great flawless dinner.)
The steak was good. Everything else was not good. We had brussel Sprouts, lionized potatoes and other side dishes and none of them were good. We had the same experience at other Ruth's Chris restaurants. We had not been for several years and we thought they might improve. Nope
With Open Table we were sat right away. Staff was fantastic. The waiter may have a been a little too busy, wasn’t very attentive to our table. I had to request twice for my water to be refilled, anywhere else no big deal, but Ruth Chris I expect to not see the bottom of my glass. The food was beyond perfection. Amazing Rib Eye, great wine selection and value. I’ll be back without question!
We hadn’t dined at this location since last year. The restaurant looks extremely dated. Everything looked very old including the furniture/booths. They are apparently undergoing some renovations so it made the ambiance even more unpleasant. Very surprised that they have waited so long to update the restaurant especially considering that Ruth’s Chris is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. The food was great and the service was very good overall. We will probably wait at least 6 months before going back.
I really enjoy myself every time I dine here. The food is always amazing and the service is on point. But this time the server rubbed me the wrong way he lied to me about swiping my card. I told him my chip didn't work and he need to slide it , and he said I tried that so I gave it to another young lady who said she had to give my card to her boss to manually enter it because they are not allowed to swipe. Plus my seat I requested wasn't honored after someone called me and assured me I would have the seat I requested .
I’m very disappointed with this visit because the staff was less than professional and the restaurant appearance is not as classy as before. I’ve been coming to this location for many of my past birthdays and even had my parent’s 50th anniversary party here. When I was taken to my table, the staff was not too friendly when I questioned the table choice which was in a tight location. A man with crocs, a t-shirt, and what appeared to be camouflage pants delivered my appetizer. The server was nice but brought me a ribeye steak instead of the porterhouse I ordered. Once I received the correct food it appeared that the mashed potatoes were rewarmed because they were hot on the surface but only warm in the middle. This location is not as desirable as you would expect for a Ruth’s Chris. I definitely will not be dinning at this location again nor would I recommend it.
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful experience. I was celebrating my anniversary and checked reviews of several steakhouses in the DC Area and finally decided to go with, in my opinion, one of the best EVER, Ruth’s Chris. Although the restaurant is being renovated (much needed in some aspects) I still enjoyed the scenery and ambiance offered by way of the 11th Floor dining area overlooking the Reagan National Airport. Service was excellent, drinks were AMAZING and our meal was simply perfect. I recommend this place for Birthday’s, Anniversaries or even Happy Hour. Two things I noticed, the restroom needs a major upgrade and the thermostat is extremely dated as well. I’m sure these things are on the list to be renovated though. Will definitely be returning, sooner than later!
It was our 2 year wedding anniversary. Our food came out in a timely manner and the waiter, Teddy remembered us from the last visit we had there. He has a very cool personality and he recommended a few different cocktails for us. Everything was great Teddy even bought out a happy Anniversary dessert for us
Very disappointed. Open Table could not accommodate our time so we had to go at 6. The restaurant was not even 1/2 full the entire time we were there (almost 2 hours) so no idea why we would not have been able to get a 7PM reservation.
Call prior to my reservation warned us about the dress code (business casual)-but most diners did not follow.
The restaurant is UNDER RENOVATION and felt like a banquet hall. No ambience at all.
Spent over $500 on dinner.
Would not go back again unless to eat at the bar.
I was actually given a gift certificate from my three older sisters back in March, my wife and I were waiting for a good time and to celebrate the arrival of our first grandchild seemed like as good as any. I had requested a window seat and within 30 seconds of sitting down my wife said "I'm not sitting here". She really is not a complainer....but there was a table of about 14 young men and it seemed like they thought it was a frat party venue, very loud, to the point you couldn't hold a normal conversation. Immediately we requested to be moved and you could still hear the outbursts from our new location, although it was much better. At the prices we paid for a dinner for 2, my wife had 2 drinks, I had one, no dessert, $240.00, no one should have had to listen to the loud group of young men. Not sure I plan on returning to Ruths Chris.....??
PS: The steaks were awesome !
I took my wife and son here for a Sunday dinner.
The place has the ambien of an Olive Garden.
The waiter and services about the same as Maggiano's. That would be okay if the menu have similar price point.
We ordered the Harvest Salad and lobster bisque for appetizers. For main course, we ordered the bone in filet, the ribeye, and a cowboy ribeye. The salads are good. The lobster bisque is the same quality of a Wegmans bisque. The steaks were ordered medium rare and were correctly cooked. They were above average steaks. However, they were serve with no vegetables or any sides. Just a steak on a white plate. I wish the waiter would have told us this so we can order side dish. I believe that this would enhance the steak.
Overall, the experience is similar to that of a casual diner at a local mall with a price tag of a better than average French restaurant.
Ruth's Chris is pretty much always a winner. The Crystal City location has the most beautiful views and our server, Patrick was amazing! They aim to please and they certainly made my mom's birthday a memorable one. I highly reccomend the lobster Mac n Cheese!!
The steak is well done. But everything else is not. We ordered crab fried rice as a side - terrible. The fingerling potatoes were fine, but honestly I can prepare them better at home. And the brussel sprouts were so over-cooked an mushy. I tried each side and decided I didn't even want to eat them. The bread was also stale. You can get a better loaf from Safeway. The restaurant was noisy, service slow, and overall below average for an expensive place. Not what it used to be!
While the food and service were both good, the ambiance was less than desirable. It looks as if the restaurant is undergoing some rennovation, which I suppose will eventually improve the environment. At present, its looks somewhat dated and the outside view of the airport and freight train line is less than inspiring.
I would also say the food while good is somewhat overpriced compared to other restaurants we have dined in the Washington area. McCormick and Schmidt might be a better dining option in the Arlington area.
