Ruth's Chris Steak House - Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointing trip this time.....we have been here several times and have always had a good experience. We went tonight for Ann Arbor Restaurant Week and received horrible service while sitting at the bar. Staff were very attentive at first, however, the follow through was disappointing at best. One server asked us if we wanted bread before our food arrived, the bread never came. We asked a second server for bread.......the bread never came. After finishing our entree's and drinks we waited 10 minutes before anyone asked if we would like another drink. Remember, we are sitting the bar!!! Lastly, the meal came with dessert but it was never served to us even though we ordered it when we initially placed our order. Not sure if the service declines with Restaurant Week prices, however, it appears it does at Ruth's Chris. Definitely off our list of go-to places for the near future.
We came for Restaurant Week because we felt it was an excellent value. Normally, Ruth Chris's would be a little out of our price range. Every item we received (salad, steak, crab cakes, mashed potatoes and desert) was excellent. We will be looking forward to come back at this summer's Restaurant Week.
Everything was great...the bartenders were either over worked or didn't care. The bar was dirty towels dirty dishes and you could tell the employees just disnt want to pick it up...maybe so no one would sit down. I had to go to the bar to get my drinks. Acted like they didn't want to make them. Although dinner service was phneomal.
Our server was awesome, very attentive without being intrusive. We ordered a bottle of wine, he brought out other wines for comparison that were not more expensive. Steaks were cooked to perfection, the tuna app was delicious. It's is on the pricier side, but a nice splurge for special occasions.
From start to finish, as always, Ruth's Chris was perfect for our night out. Tonight was a girl's night as we are all home for Christmas. The valet was attentive, the hostesses were kind and funny, our busboy Austin had a great sense of humor and kindness, and our waitress, Vanessa, was thoughtful, funny, and helpful. We had an amazing dining experience and will always be back again! Thanks to the team for an impeccable fine-dining experience.
the meats are amazing and seasoned just enough so you can still taste the meat. The scalloped potatoes are wonderful, but full of crunchy onions. Would rather have had the onions cooked all the way through or none at all. the cheeses were plenty and the onions were not needed. the pricing was a little high, but very much worth it. My daughter's graduation dinner was wonderful and very enjoyable for a special outing.
Ruth's Chris is my wife and I's favorite restaurant. We typically go to the Troy location but we learned about the Ann Arbor location and tried it out. Out of all the high end steak houses, we've found Ruth's Chris to be the best for an entire meal from appetizers to their steaks. This location did not disappoint. We will be back.
Great experience. Andrew and Amanda took great care of us; with assistance by Alex. They were on their A game! Amanda was not our server but she diligently researched a sauce my peer had previously until she got it right! Kudos to her to make a nice tip on a table she was not scheduled to serve. Andrew followed up on a request for a cowboy lover who couldn't eat beef tonight and had the kitchen tailor a special meal.
In addition the the As, Carston was also very accommodating. Thank you! I also can't send enough appreciation to Jessica! She's the best bartender in A2! She knows what she did and going the extra mile is a natural ability. Not everyone does customer service the right way...thanks everyone!
Been to many RC's and was struck how basic the interior was in Ann Arbor, pretty stark. Their steak is good, tasty, prepared as ordered. Restaurant has a large bar and was full on this Saturday night after UM/OSU football. Service was steady, in/out in 90 minutes. Everything is ala carte so look for your bill to add up, but sides are of good size. Would I repeat? Maybe
We have dined at this restaurant many times in the past. The wait staff has always been friendly and attentive, the food quality has always been exceptional, and our overall experience has always been very good. Additionally, The on-duty manager always stopped by to say hello and to see how the evening was progressing. Unfortunately, this visit was an exception to the level of service and quality we’ve come to expect from our past experiences.
Food quality— Overall the food quality was good. There was one issue with the crabcakes which tasted rather fishy and had to be sent back. Tuna steak and the filet mignon were outstanding!
Service—The wait staff was friendly and polite. However, Our server rarely returned the table. She was slow to bring cocktails, slow on refills, and did not serve our side dish. Our Server, desert, and coffee arrived at our table 25 minutes after we placed our desert order. The ice cream had melted significantly and the double espresso was like warm. We would’ve sent desert and coffee back to kitchen; but, our server did not return to the table for over 20 minutes.
On Duty Manager—When we first arrived, the manager was speaking with a couple at a nearby table. We were the only other table seated in the dining area at that time. The manager hurriedly passed by the dining area many times throughout the evening; but, never once stopped to check on any of the other patrons. This is out of the norm for this Ruth’s Chris as past managers have always made an effort to stop at every table to engage patrons.
Resolution for dining issues— The server did remove the crab cakes and absent side dish from the check.
I do not plan to return to Ruth’s Chris any time soon based upon last evening’s experience.
