Rusty Scupper - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
First time diners looking for a good spot for a gourmet meal in downtown Baltimore for our Saturday night date night. Heard good things about this establishment. I ordered the Blackened Sea Scallops topped with crab meat (one of the evening specials) and my wife had the Chilean Sea Bass from the standard menu. My Sea Scallops were good, not great, and the meal came out lukewarm, like it had been sitting for a bit. My wife's Sea Bass was horribly overcooked. It was very dry. In fact, she used the sauce that comes with the complimentary bread on her entree to give it some moisture. Our server was good. When we find good spots in the downtown area, we tend to frequent them while concurrently trying new dining opportunities. We will not be returning here in the near term.
I was very pleased with my special menu. Seafood chowder and Creme Brule were excellent. The crabcake was the best I had so far in a restaurant. My husband had also a special, he was not so happy with the ceasar salad, he loved the carc scrimps with Gouda cheese grits. He had Lime cake which he liked. I tasted the Gouda cheese grits and loved it a lot although I don’t care much for grits. We left this place nicely full and happy. Rusty Scupper is my favorite restaurant since we moved to B’more.
Enjoyed a very relaxing evening. The waiters Logan and Dan were very good to us. Very informative about the menu and food selections. We weren’t rushed to eat and leave.
I thought the food was very expensive for the quality and quantity provided. Parking was also expensive even though I received a 50 percent discount based on the restaurant’s validation of my parking ticket.
Customers loved the experience, view and food. They had never eaten here but want to come back with their spouse. I go to this restaurant every time I go to Baltimore, which has been for years, and I have NEVER been disappointed.
Can't beat the view and the food and service is as good as any other seafood restaurant in Baltimore. Go, have a great time and enjoy the beautiful views either from the outside and inside this great landmark. Extra fun in the summer to watch the boats go in and out of the harbor and the activity at the marina. Great time and fun for all! Enjoy.
The atmosphere was great and being on the water and the lighting was perfect. The service was exceptional. The food choices could have been better my wife had the rainbow trout and the shrimp cocktail was ok but not great. The blackened scallops and cream of crab soup was amazing and had good flavor. Overall i would recommend it.
One of the very best views over the Baltimore harbor, great wait staff, and good drinks; unfortunately the food on this visit was fair at best. This has not been our experience in the past. We were warmly welcomed on this visit, and loved our table overlooking the water. However on this day the food was very disappointing. The seared Yellow fin tuna appetizer was over seasoned and a big disappointment. The soup of the day, a seafood chowder was barely warm and the flavor another disappointment. The salmon entree was a little overcooked, and the sides to the salmon were charred. Not a good day at the Scupper.
This is a wonderful place to take someone for a special occasion. The atmosphere was perfect, the Baltimore Waterfront was beautiful with the city and holiday lights shining off of the water. My husband and I are foodies and our entrees were cooked to perfection.
Have not visited in at least 20 years but we are asking ourselves why? Recent Friday night dinner with family and friend and everything was outstanding. Promptly seated. Sophia our server was great. Appetitizers of crab/artichoke dip and calamari were great. Entrees of today's catch of mahi-mahi, Chilean Sea Bass, Cedar Planked Salmon were fresh tasting and prepared perfectly. Order of Fish and Chips very large and good. Nice bottle of Craggy Range. Opted out of dessert only because of no room. Daniel the assistant manager was great also. This is also the place my husband and I met 28 years ago. We will definitely return.
Expensive, especially for the touristy atmosphere, but the crab cakes were excellent, as was my boyfriend’s lobster. The mashed potatoes were too buttery! And everything was just a bit too sweet, but still tasted excellent! It looked dead and empty from the outside, but the dining room was busy but not full. We had a great table by the windows looking over the harbor. It was wonderful, but we were seated next to a huge party with lots of kids, dressed like it was a McDonald’s rather than a nice restaurant which killed the ambiance a bit. That said, I would definitely hit this up for a great location and solid food in Baltimore.
The view is fabulous and the setting/decor is cozy and welcoming. The food, however, is overpriced and the its quality is merely acceptable. The portions, though, were large and the Maryland clam chowder was pretty good. The restaurant validates the parking ticket, but parking still cost $8. So, while it was acceptable, it wasn't a great value, and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, though I would eat here again if I were in the neighborhood and it was convenient to do so.
Our family of 5 had dinner at the Rusty Scupper on Christmas Eve. The food was delicious and the ambience was wonderful. It was so nice having a view of the Inner Harbor all lit up. We would definitely return to this restaurant. All five of us were happy with our meals.
Javonte (name is spelled incorrect) was an attentive waiter
I attended the jazz buffet brunch - DELICIOUS- plus breakfast cocktail are included ! There was so much seafood and an omelette station and the biggest dessert table! Was so yummy- I’m visiting from nyc so I will definitely be back
The place is nice, and the food is pretty good, but for what it is, it’s expensive. My family and I did a 4 day food tour in Baltimore for lunch and dinner, this place qualifies in the lower side (price vs quality of food vs experience).
The service needs to improve a ton!! Competitors on the same price range or less have way much better service. Unfortunately the staff members are not there to serve you, are there to barely be note-takers.... So if you want some parmesan cheese for your pasta, make sure to ask for it to at least three wait staff as well as if you find someone available, call them, because if not, it might be a while for a wait staff to be around.
