Rustico (Westlake Village, CA) Ratings and Reviews
We come here often..normally I'd give this 4 and 5 stars. I'll admit it WAS New Year's Eve...however we have been here before on New Year's Eve....with always a 9:00 reservation...so:
We were getting a little upset that arriving at 9:00 we were told they were clearing a table and it would be just a few minutes, and were not seated until 9:30. Service was OK..but slow..took about 10 minutes before we got noticed. Server knew the menu and specials and was very pleasant....however I never did get the decanter for my wine which I asked for. NOTE TO RESTAURANT: PLEASE educate your servers that asking a patron who brings (or even orders) wine if they would like the bottle uncorked so it can breath awhile...does NOTHING! Decant the wine or pour it in the glasses to let it breath if it need time. Yes, I'm a wine-o but certain things bug me like that and also not automatically pouring a short taste. Yes, I'll be back. Love the restaurant, especially the crispy duck....best around. But probably will not go back on a major holiday again.
First you need to read what I requested never put near a busing station! What we next? Also my channel purse on the back of my chair knocked over at least 10 times.
Than put under my leather fur coat, changed sides worse !
Scared the coat was going to be ruined!!
I also requested to be next to a Wall our friend can not hear real good! No we put in a noisy area.
Can find better Italian elsewhere
No apologies when I said something on the way our
We love Rustico....celebrated my birthday with 5 other couples. Table was stuck in a corner....so it was hard to talk to both ends.......and one end couldn't move. Most of the food was excellent as always except for 1 person who did not like the Branzino fish.
Unfortunately the toilets were not working in the bathrooms, and the sinks weren't working either. There was a problem and was being fixed as we were there....but was very inconvenient.
Rustico is still our go-to neighborhood restaurant.
This used to be our favorite restaurant in Ventura County area, but it's up for sale (we learned afterwards). We both ordered the beef short rib. It was way too salty and definitely not succulent. The veggies were undercooked. It just seemed that a host of problems accompanied an overly expensive meal. We were saddened and unimpressed. But things that were once good and then become not so good is a frequent issue in the restaurant world. We will have to search for something better. So it goes. Terribly disappointed!
Rustico served authentic Italian cuisine in a nice upscale, yet casual atmosphere. It is definitely a neighborhood gem and one that we frequent often. We are never disappointed. All of the dishes are fantastic, but do try to order the roasted pumpkin salad. Served during the fall months only, it is one of my very favorite dishes.
Have eaten here many times and the food has been good. Was recently there and ordered the seared tuna special for that evening. Received it and it was 6 thinly sliced pieces of the tuna, 2-3 spoonfuls of mashed potato and a small portion of some stir fried vegetables. Ok a small to at. Eat averaged sized meal. I would of course eaten more had the portions been more. Anyway I received the bill and they charged me $38.00 for that special. I have had many seared tuna dinners and wasn't expecting to be charged that much. I'd seriously suggest asking the price of the nightly specials before ordering them.
