Limited menu unless you are getting pizza or a burger. Beer selection is very diverse; tending towards more trendy beers over straightforward lagers. pilsners, ales. IPAs, etc. Burger was good, other menu items okay. Prices on the high side relative to the value. Noisy, difficult to carry on a conversation.
The carrot hummus was delicious! We had issue with the lighting as the restaurant was very dark but overall good ambiance.
We're always searching for great gluten free pizza options. Rustico offers a gluten free pizza made from chick pea flour. I had not seen this before but my wife, who is gluten-free, was aware of it. Most gluten-free pizza are either mushy (rice flour) or cardboard-like. This pizza was robust and fresh. We look forward to returning.
I recently went here for a business lunch and was really impressed. Somewhat pricy for lunch but good options, nice atmosphere, and an awesome beer list I’ll definitely have to come back and try.
The hosts are always so friendly and helpful. Good servers, too. Great beer list.
Always love a date night at Rustico. They’re consistently on point and this time did not disappoint!
Had a great time here last weekend! Very smart business move to have happy hour on a weekend too. Service is great, wine is great, and I have dreams about the carrot hummus
Food was great, service was a tad slow and inattentive during the meal. Server was very pleasent
Service was outstanding in both the bar and dining room. Food was very good. Bar was extremely busy and a bit loud. We ate in the dining room - it was fine.
We arrived early for our 5 pm reservation and decided to sit in the bar area to wait the twenty minutes until dinner would be served. We had a round of drinks and then decided we’d just stay where we were and have dinner.
One party ordered the 1/2 linguini and clam sauce and one ordered the full. The price was $12 for half and $24 for full. Makes sense until the plates arrived and everyone at the table commented the only difference was the size of bowl. Some of us think the 1/2 order actually had more food. The full order had two more clams than the four in the half order.
I ordered the pork chop which was over overcook and dried out.
Now comes desert, two ordered the chocolate cake and I had a root beer float. He came back and advised there was no chocolate cake and delivered the root beer float in a broken glass.
Rustico used to be a nice place. Not anymore
Easter brunch was a disappointment. We were charged $25 per person which was exorbitant. The food offerings were not great, it was a breakfast and the guy was set up to cook you an omelet. Even the fresh omelet came up gray. A few fruit offerings, one salad, brownies and a strawberry something for dessert. That was it. Worse, we felt ill afterwards, got the trots. Will not do that again.
We went for Easter brunch and won't do that again. They squeezed the brunch area into a tight corner and it was a pretty uncomfortable experience, getting back there to get the food. And $25 a plate for brunch buffet was about the going rate at other places for Easter, but this was a very unimpressive brunch spread. We were just too late in making reservations and didn't have many options.
We've also gone for dinner and for regular weekend brunch (menu not buffet) and we've had a fine time. They have good beer and a decent menu. Generally good service and we like the ambiance of the place.
I generally love Rustico. I've been going to the Alexandria location for years, but was so disappointed when we booked for Easter brunch and they were only serving a buffet. I wanted the regular brunch menu! Had I know it would be a buffet (ie, were it advertised), I would've gone somewhere else. The buffet selections were minimal; it was in a very crammed area of the restaurant. They also didn't pace their reservations well and the first flood of folks all jammed in at once. Not to mention, the restaurant opens at 11am, and at 11:05, people were standing outside in the cold waiting to get in while the staff snickered in the background. I'm going to take this as a one-off experience, but man was it off.
We waited a long time for our entrees while the children grew restless. It was difficult to get the wait staff's attention. The mussels are great!
Service at by brunch was a total failure.
Great food, with a SUPER-size beer list, including lots of draught and bottled beers (I don't drink beer but was totally floored by the breadth of selections), decent wines (could use some more choices), and great food. Their pizza was incredible, including a GF version using chick pea flour.....
Love the restaurant, really good food.
Nice restaurant good menu and the food is good. Love the beer selection. Great draft options and 400 bottles.
Favorite local spot.
Extremely noisy environment. The beer is worth the trip, but the food was found by all three of us as just "OK".
Awesome mushroom burger and truffle fries. Feta dip was outstanding.
I didn’t get a booth like I requested and the food is ok for what you pay. Nothing special. I think we come here for convenience because it’s close to where we live more than for the food. Pricey for casual American and portions for appetizers are skimpy. They also messed up our order and put us in a high traffic area which felt cold. Probably wouldn’t return here for any dates.
We normally love Rustico, but the service was slower than usual. The 3 pig sandwich was tasty, but the fries were not hot. The pork chop was just okay. The kids loved their pasta and pizza.
Everything was fine, but it was way too noisy. Could not hear the others at the table of six. Probably won't go for a business meeting again.
Busy bad weather Friday night. Unfortunately our food was a bit delayed (no one's fault of course!) but not only did our waitress acknowledge the delay but the manager came over as well and ensured us we wouldn't be paying for the app. Food was good, great pizzas, loud lively ambience, friendly staff - we look forward to returning soon. Thank you Rustico Ballston.
The waitress never came back after our pizza was delivered, and we really wanted red pepper flakes and parm cheese. We waited 15 minutes eating really slowly in hopes she’d at least come half way through, but she never did. Margerita pizza can always use spice so it was disappointed we didn’t get any.
The salon was phenomenal and the service was fabulous.
Our waiter was very attentive. I told him what type of cider I liked and he came back with a very nice choice. I had the salmon and it was delicious. There were two us sitting across the table from one another. At times is was a bit hard to hear each other. Some of that could have been because we were close to the door. The restaurant was very busy.
Delicious food and very good service. It was super loud in there, but our fault for sitting at a bar table! Love this place
Rustico is a solid choice for a tasty brunch is a relaxing but inviting atmosphere. Our server was attentive but not overly so, and we lingered but never felt rushed.
We dined at Rustico for a friends get-together. Seating was comfortable and conducive to good conversation. The “lunch box” special was a very good deal. We enjoyed our lunch and will likely return
Very nicely done! Greeted warmly ; the service and food were great. We’ll be back.
Food good. Service attentive and timely.
Rustico has unfortunately become a hit or miss place for both, quality and service.
Great lunch menu- lots of choices. Try the lunch special: soup, half sandwich & small salad! Yum!
Coworker going away lunch
Food was not great
I went with a group of 10of our friends and we had a lovely time. Great atmosphere and delicious food. They were very accommodating to our large group.
Have gone several times (lunch, bunch and dinner) and the food and service never disappoint. Th gnocchi and braised short ribs, this time was excellent. Great neigborhood restaurant.
Always a great place for meeting colleagues
