Rustico is the quintessential neighborhood pub on the edge of Old Town Alexandria. The menu features seasonal, hearty American fare from a wood-fired oven and grill, including pizzas and rotisserie meats, along with other rustic cuisine using the freshest local ingredients available. There’s also no mistaking Rustico’s love for barley & hops! The bar’s focal point is a custom galvanized inverted T bar with 30 brilliant taps book-ended by two massive coolers holding more than 400 different types of ales, lagers, ciders and stouts.

Rustico Ratings and Reviews
Was SO disappointed with this place. They gave walk-ins our reservation and sat us at the worst table (even our server said it was). Never gave my daughter a drink, waited 20 min for our drinks (not even food, which included a kids meal). AC must have been broken. Hostess was incredibly flustered. We had a toddler and 7 year old, definitely would not recommend this place based on service, ambiance, etc. We just walked out without ever even trying a bite or drink.
Salads were very good. Service not. Had to flag down other servers three times, because our server would leave the area and not come back, or if he did, he'd avoid looking our way. Only once did he have time to be pleasant, and that was when he handed us the check.
The restaurant was recommended by a friend in Alexandria because we were meeting out-of-town friends who were staying in Alexandria. We were quite disappointed. First, they misrepresent that they are on the "edge of Old Town", which is stretching the truth. Second, they were out of many items. They were out of the beer we ordered. They were out of 2 food items we ordered. The service was well-meaning but not polished. The food was ordinary, what you'd expect from a chain like Applebees. Not a keeper for my money.
The pizza here is amazing and the beer selection is incredible. My Greek Salad pizza was the slightest bit over-cooked in the center (where the dough is the thinnest) and the manager argued with me because he wanted to replace it AND refund me. "We want you to have the best time and the best food here." Wow! Great customer service that's hard to find these days.
Since I had to provide a credit card to hold a reservation on a Tuesday night I was expecting a better overall experience. Have been a few times over the years and when a group was coming to town for a business meeting immediately thought of this place. The table was stuck back in a corner out of the regular dining area. It was not set for the correct amount of people and the service was almost non existent. Took forever to get our drinks and the table was not kept clean between the courses. Several times we had to wave our arms to get the servers attention while she was at a table in the dining room making pizza boxes. Unfortunate that the service was almost non-existent.
Great ambiance and food. Their Brunch menu is small but you will surely find something you'll like. I recommend starting off with the donuts and/or the cinnamon bun. Both are fantastic.
Their beer menu is extensive and well rounded with a good variety of choices.
I can't wait to go back.
Had reservations for a Friday night. We we're visiting Rustico for a special occasion. Rustico made our dinner such a wonderful experience! The service was exceptional and the food was mouthwatering, delicious. We had risotto tots and brussel sprouts to begin our meal and ordered a pork dinner and a pizza for our entrees. We finished our meal with doughnuts and chocolate cake and Irish coffees. We enjoyed a fantastic bottle of red during our dinner. It was a wonderful evening for a couple that doesn't get out much but has high expectations and everything was superb. Can not wait to return! Neighborhood gem
Met some friends for brunch. I had the eggs benedict with salmon. The hollandaise sauce was very light....extremely tasty. One friend had the vegetarian quiche and another friend had a salad. Our only complaint....the portions were a bit small. Everything was tasty.
I was really pleased with Rustico in all aspects. It's a solid choice in Alexandria and a good spot for a business meal.
The service was great from the moment I walked in up until leaving. The waitress came at just the right times to refill drinks, check on us and take our orders/clear our plates.
The food is good. I had the salt roasted beet salad with chicken and it was awesome. The squash in it weren't really what I was expecting and the beets were pretty big square chunks so it was a little much, but the combination of everything was great. Also definitely recommend adding chicken to the salad if you get one. Mine was cooked perfectly and really brought the dish together. I've also been in the past and had their pizza and really liked it, so I'm not sure you can go wrong with any of the options!
I'd definitely come back if it were for a business meal or even just a good, decently priced lunch, but probably not otherwise. It's great, but wouldn't be my top choice for a "foodie" experience in VA/DC.
Our group really enjoyed Rustico and its ambiance. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable. Because it was Beer Day, the table decided to have beer instead of wine. Everyone at the table found the beer (forgot the name) that had the olive and strawberry notes quite interesting and went well with our risotto tots, french fries, and falafel. All 3 pizzas (Margherita, Four Cheeses, the Mushroom Cream) were very tasty, however we all did not like the one with chickpea crust. The chickpea crust had a flat and rubbery texture. The donuts were ok. All in all...good food and atmosphere.
This has been a go-to for my group at work for going way lunches. The food is great and varied enough that even the pickiest can find something. The wait staff is attentive, and never has a problem giving separate checks (even for large parties of 14!). Definitely recommend. I put noise level as moderate - but I think we are usually the loud ones, so take that with a grain of salt.
Chose this to check out a place outside of the city in our mode recent family vacation. Probably our least favorite place that we are. Food was pretty good but this was our priciest meal and we had eaten at some nice places. Restaurant wasn't very busy at all but it took our waitress quite some time to even come and take our drink orders. We were left wanting for more water and drinks but our waitress was quite busy chatting in the back with the other servers.
Open, high ceilinged dining room was inviting with view of open kitchen. Great decor. HUGE beer selection, nearly overwhelming. Service was good, but noise levels made it difficult to hear server. Roast chicken, gnocchi, tater tots were amazing. Burger was well over cooked, even to point of being burned. (Didn't find this until nearly done eating, so staff was not asked to correct.) Would not recommend mashed potatoes with mozzarella; consistency of glue. Staff was prompt and generous in reheating/replacing warm (not hot) selections. Seating is stiff--all wood benches or hard chairs--not at all cozy when combined with noise level. Would like to return to try pizza, outside dining in warmer weather.
Food was excellent. Service was good.
Too loud but our table was near door so people waiting for a table we're talking.
Not sure what the policy is in terms of babies. But the table next to us had an out of control toddler who kept tossing glasses on the floor and they shattered. Parents did nothing. Not only was this dangerous but it was disturbing. I think a manager should have asked them to leave.
They stopped by our table on the way out to apologize and blame their child's bad behaviors on Rustico. Trashed Rustico while we sat aghast as the parents kept drinking wine and not monitoring their child.
Next time I will be sure to get a table next to adults only.
When my kids were that age - I got a babysitter😳
Have eaten there many times over the years and was sorely disappointed last week. Music from the bar area not only bled into the main dining area, the thumping, deafening music made me and my dining partner as well as the two tables next to us very agitated and I had to yell questions to the "server," Got up and left and explained why The hostess looked like a deer in the headlights at me as if either 1) she didn't hear me or 2) didn't hear me. When I explained why I was leaving not even a recognition that the bar music was loud, nor offer another seat or to turn the music down a bit. We felt as if we were being told 'don't let the door hit you on the way out' from the management of "Disco Rustico!"
We had a great meal and my husband loved the beer selection. They have a large book of available bottles and a smaller list of drafts that can satisfy the biggest beer snob. I had the mahi which was delicious and my husband ordered the pork shank which he said was delicious. We ordered the brussel sprouts and carrot sides. The flavors were delicious, but both were slightly undercooked. Our server was also a little slow replacing drinks. Overall a very good experience. We will definitely go back.
