Great hidden gem. Food and service were exceptional
Sat outside on a beautiful night. Excellent draft beer selection. Great food and friendly service.
Menu still a little limited
Food was adequate and service good until we tried to pay. There was difficulty accepting cards due to computer glitch. After lengthy delay, we gave up and paid cash.
Great neighborhood steady eddie
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Arlington area. It is family friendly and the food is so good - a great take on a gastropub. Excellent beer menu. Service on this occasion was ok - not too attentive. But overall I would recommend this place 100%. We often come here after an event at the Kennedy Center.
Service and food was great as usual. We have dinner at Rustico at least once a month and we are never disappointed
The food here keeps getting better and better. The cauliflower appetizer was amazing, and the pork chop cooked perfectly. The kitchen was also able to accommodate my low carb request by putting more mushrooms in my dish instead of pasta or rice. My husband and I are also both gluten sensitive and they do an outstanding job with this.
I really want to like this place! This is my third and quite frankly worst visit. Looked a bit understaffed. Our waitress had many tables, but did a good job of checking back with us. There were a few screaming babies when we arrived, but they were gone shortly after we ordered. I realize this is not something the restaurant can control, but it serves more as a warning for others that folks with young children may be there. The food was only ok. The NY strip had no particular flavor, hamburger was nothing special but the seafood got a thumbs up. Like I said I really want to like this pace but sadly it’s now off my neighbor gem list.
We love Rusticio’s and go there often. Delicious fresh healthy food and homey atmosphere. C
Rustico is a superb local "pub" like restaurant near Potomac Green on the northern end of Alexandria. My wife and I have gone there about 100 times over the past 5+ years we have lived in the neighborhood. When you get to know a place that well (they have the best pizza in Alexandria, hands down), it's difficult to find many surprises on their otherwise exception menu replete with many items of comfort food. But this past weekend, I was more than pleasantly surprised by their Argentine weekend menu of Carne Asado, Proveleta, and Chorizo. In addition to the food being authentic and delicious, what I really appreciate about this place is they are not afraid to take a chance and run specialty menus like this throughout the year. If you live in the Northern Alexandria area just off where the GW Parkway ends, Rustico is a must!!!
Friends out of town
Food a little disappointing this time. Limited menu choices. But good service and a nice atmosphere as usual. Great beer selection too.
We sat in a booth in the bar area. Cozy and great people watching . By chance we also had our favorite server, Rebecca.
Andre was slow and did not bring our 2nd appetizer and we had to wait a bit for the check
Service was great, though a little too quick. We we're barely through appetizers when entrees showed up. Had the strip steak, and while cooked perfectly and nicely flavored, heavy gristle and fat. Felt the price did t reflect the quality. Apps we're great, same with dessert...and of course, all the beers.
The pizza! Finally found something that reminds us of our favorite place in Minnesota!
it was ok.. the risotto tatters were soggy... but the pork pizza was delicious
Rustico has become our favorite neighborhood spot!! We absolutely love the food, atmosphere, and service. Pro tip: order the crispy cauliflower or shishito peppers for an appetizer. You won’t be disappointed.
Service was the worst we’ve ever had there. Usually service is spot on but not tonight. Food was great as always.
Rebecca was great, as was our food. Amazing all the way through.
My wife and I visited for Valentine's Day. Ultimately, we decided that the food wasn't for us, but we could tell that it was definitely high quality and well-made. We did have one issue with our meal, but the staff's prompt and courteous solution to the issue insured that while we may not come back, we'll certainly recommend the restaurant. I know, a weird situation to be in.
We are regulars and routinely eat at Rustico. Great beer selection. Ok white wine selection (bring back the Fruilano!) We often have Rustico burgers which are normally fabulous. Both were cooked too long and were bland. (We didn’t talk about it until the next day.) Perhsps the aoli was not on them? Otherwise the beet salad was good and calamari was great. Server Jovanni did a good job.
Service was horrible this evening. Food was adequate. For a Saturday night it was quite a disappointment, made mores by the high cost.
We love Rustico but we often have trouble with the tab. Three times, we have been charged for more beer and wine (the expensive glass/bottle was charged to our tab when we didn't order it).
Rustico is very consistent and the food is delicious. The service could be more personal, attentive, and less rushed. We have dined at Rustico more times than we can count and there seems to be a high turnover of wait staff. They are rarely notable or well-trained. The woman this evening was more personable than most but interrupted me mid-sentence twice and didn't spend enough time at the table for me to even describe her.
Service was wonderful! Food very good- great place for a family get-to-gether.
All the burgers are superb, the beer list among the very best anywhere (thank you, Greg Engert). Like just about every other restaurant these days, you have to raise your voice to be heard by tablemates, which of course makes it that much louder in the room. This is intentional - restaurant owners think a quiet environment makes them look unsuccessful at drawing large crowds. This may never change. I guess we'll have to start texting across the table to one another.
We were there for restaurant week and shared both a pizza and a burger. Both were great, as was the service. As they say, a neighborhood gem.
We went for the restaurant week dinner menu and really enjoyed our food! The appetizers (fried cauliflower and risotto tots) were both fabulous, and a really nice portion size. My girlfriend had the mushroom pizza for dinner and I had the flat iron steak, both of which were amazing! Unfortunately, the desserts (brownie cake and apple crisp) didn’t do anything for us but we did also get to try the panna cotta, which was good.
I love Rustico! It’s my ‘go-to’ place for entertaining out-of-town guests, my favorite meeting place for quick informal get-togethers and my first choice for date night with my husband!
After work “date” made for a great dinner. Rebekah was a terrific server and all the staff were friendly and professional. This is quickly becoming our go to restaurant. Burgers were the best. Beer was good. donuts were the bomb!!
Excellent brunch! Always good
This place use to b a LONG time ago. Has gone down hill. Waitress was not attentive at all. Pizza tasted like frozen pizza
Our waitress was pleasant, efficient and on the ball with refilling drinks or water. The food was very good and served in a timely manner.
The pizza was delicious and the waitstaff was very attentive and had a lot of personality. I'll be back for sure!
Great neighborhood gem in Alexandria with an excellent selection of local craft beers (Veil, Aslin, etc.) and consistently good food.
Stylish interior, clean. Hostess was pleasant. Extensive beer selection. We had several dishes (calamari, mild wings, scallops with couscous, and mushroom burger) and all were outstanding. Be aware that dinner is not available until 5:30 PM (5:00 on Friday). Our server was not on the ball--failed to see us at least twice, did not return answer one question, had to check in the back twice for easy questions like fish of the day. Other staff checked in on us also. Music was too loud at first, but was turned down after a while. Good experience overall.
We noticed we hadn’t been greeted promptly by a server after sitting down. It seemed like the place was short staffed. After the waiter/waitress got the backlog fixed we had good service.
Food was terrible which matched the service. The beer selection was impressive but overpriced. We will not be going back.
