We had a family dinner with six people including grandparents. Evening started well when we were given a table in front of the fireplace. The restaurant was not very busy but there were only two servers for the restaurant and lounge.
Our waitress was obviously new but friendly. The ordering went fine and our drinks were a little slow but we weren’t in a rush. Appetizers were good; we had calamari and charcuterie platter. As we were finishing them off the waitress came to say that because three of us had ordered the lamb duo our meal would take a little longer, an extra 10 minutes. We said that was fine.
We ordered a more expensive second bottle of wine ($125) while we were waiting. We had to ask for fresh glasses and the wine should have been decanted but wasn’t.
It took over two hours from when we arrived for mains to be served. Most of that time we sat with dirty dishes from first course in front of us. The fire was getting quite smoky but no one came by so my son tended to the fire to push the logs back further into fireplace.
By now most of the tables that had arrived after us were gone. One large table that arrived after us was served before us and one of them had the same lamb duo dish we were waiting for.
When the food arrived it was not good. The rack of lamb was tasty but the shank and galette half of the duo were burned on the bottom and way over cooked on top so it was dry and charred. The duck was also burned on the bottom. The steak was cold and very fatty. Only the hamburger was prepared properly.
We let the waitress know and she let the manager know who came over to apologize and asked what we wanted to do. Of course by now it was so late we just ate what we could and left without any dessert or coffee. The manager came over again to apologize and did adjust our bill by about 30% which we appreciated but it probably should have been more.
It was a disappointing dinner.
Always a spectacular view of Lake Windermere and the excellent golf course! Restaurant is nicely built out with timbers and stone throughout. Server Cassandra was very pleasant, always smiling and very helpful. Definitely one of the best locales in the Invermere area for an excellent dining experience (though not the "cheapest" but you get what you pay for!)
We have always enjoyed going to Eagle Ranch for dining but the past two years have not been that great. This season, I noticed there was a different menu, so I thought we would give it another try. I went with several friends and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food and service were great. We will make it our go to place again this season so hopefully it continues to be as good as it was for our first visit.
Served by very pleasant but inexperienced waitress with limited training. My food, steak was served cold.
Place was empty, with table settings not as pictured in advertising. Very basic setting.
Overall food was somewhat innovative but definitely not worth the price.
We enjoyed our 25th wedding anniversary at the Rustica Steakhouse-Eagle Ranch Resort. Matt made our evening very enjoyable and went out of his way to ensure that we were taken care of. He even took the picture that we plan on framing. Your food was amazing. Thank you for a memorable experience on our very special occasion.
Despite the fact that Open Table made this reservation for us and even sent an email
confirming these reservations for 5:30 pm Sunday, January 22, when our party of six arrived promptly at 5:30 on the above date, the building at Eagle Ranch was locked up tight and totally deserted. We subsequently found out that the restaurant is closed on several nights of the week, including Sunday. We find it highly incompetent that your website did not inform us that the restaurant was closed Sunday, that our website accepted our reservation and went to the ludicrous extent of sending us a separate email confirming the reservation. Hence we rate the restaurant "Poor" in every category to encourage you and the management of the restaurant to communicate better when the restaurant is open and when it is closed.
I was very disappointed to arrive at the restaurant and find the lights off with the doors locked. It seems they were not open on Mondays but I was able to reserve a table at the restaurant for a birthday celebration. I then had to find another place for the 5 of us to eat at the last minute.
We have been patrons of Eagle Ranch for many years and over the last 3 years each of our Dinning experiences has been very disappointing. The venue and the view are superb but the food is C+ at best and the servers try their best but I would suggest that their needs to be a significant change with management.
Not sure why we needed reservations. The restaurant was not busy but still took over two hours for dinner. Waitress was friendly but we did not see her often. Was expecting something more intimate. Felt like we were sitting in the lobby of the clubhouse as there is no separation. Steak was delicious and cooked perfectly but not worth the $50 plus I paid for it. It also looked like people sitting on the deck got a different menu than we did even though we were less than 10 feet apart.
We played drove down from Calgary as my daughter bought her a golf game and a night stay at the bighorn resort.We played golf and I had suggested the eagle ranch restaurant because I have been there before and I really enjoyed it.My daughter and son inlaw have never been there.Long story short I ordered the bangers and mash very good but I had asked for some butter it never came.My daughter and wife ordered flank steak medium it came well done .My son inlaw ordered some kind of noodle bowl it came liquidy. He asked for a spoon to try and eat it it also never came.He couldn't finish .Never came and checked on how our meal was so we could explain what was wrong.I am very disappointed after I had suggested it and my ring of friends that we sometimes go to eagleranch with were also very surprised.Is this going to be the norm?
We have dined here before on the patio and liked it, so we decided to try the dining room. It was slow and I suspect the kitchen would actually do better if it were busier. The entree was only so-so. On the plus side, because it was slow the service was great. If I go back, it will be to the casual dining outlet on the patio.
Food and service were good, but the bugs inside were horrible because of the open door to the patio. Wow, I guarantee there were more bugs (flys, wasps and bees) inside than on the patio.
Why would the door to the patio be left open the whole time? This the second time this has happened for us at this restaurant. Spent more time swatting flys from our food than eating.....
We made a reservation for a quiet romantic dinner for 2 that really didn't happen. When we arrived at the restaurant we were directed to a table in the lounge vs. the restaurant and provided the lounge menu, with no explanation. We queried our very friendly waiter and was told that the restaurant menu was not available as the chef had had an accident in the family, that was most unfortunate. The issue I have is that the Maitre 'd provided no explanation when we were greeted at the restaurant, I would have suggested that the clients be informed of the situation prior to being seated and told about the limited menu and service options - this didn't happen.
This fits the pattern of the Up's and Down's at Rustica, sometimes an A and sometimes a C.
We have been to Rustica four or five times and enjoyed it very much. This time they appeared to be short staffed and we waited unacceptable times for our food and wine. Our server was good (we had had her before and she remembered us) but she had too many diners to try to satisfy. She did her best. The steak I had (6oz. New York) was one of the least satisfying New York steaks I have had. It was thin and tasted like it had been cooked in a frypan not on the grill. The summer veggies advertised to come with the meal were a couple of onions. One of our meals came too long after the other two. Our appetizer of ceased salad was very good, fresh and we'll set out with croutons, a nice dressing and lovely Parmesan cheese. We did not stay for coffee or dessert. Given the price they charge for entrees we were quite disappointed, notwithstanding the breathtaking location.
We have enjoyed Rustica at Eagle Ranch for years. The view and vista are simply outstanding along with the style and design of the clubhouse - restaurant.
Our dining experience last week was A+ for a "special occasion" with superb service and great food from appetizers to the feature seafood dish to the wine.
Full marks to the chef and our waitress. Of special note based on a very negative experience we had last year at Rustica the entire team brought their A game this time and we will be back with an expectation that team constantly delivers outstanding service and great food.
We ate at the "upscale" part of the restaurant. They had a winter deal called "Date Night" which was a meal for two with your choice of appetizer, main and dessert. It included a bottle of wine and was a very reasonable price. The food was great. That, coupled with the amazing view and lovely atmosphere, made for a great night out!
The food was outstanding, worth every penny. There was a mushroom soup with goat cheese and white truffle oil that was mind blowing, best soup I have every had. The sea food in my main dish was perfectly cooked and the dessert was heaven. They have a good wine selection from many different regions. Portions were good as well, we left full and content.
The wait staff was very friendly and obviously knowledgable, the wait between courses was short and a delightful pallet cleanser was offered beteween plates.
I would come back in a heartbeat and I will be recommending this place to anyone travelling to the area. (We were visiting from Alberta)
Overall the food was very good. We had the potato/rosemary soup which was quite bland, however the rest of the dishes were excellent. Nice touch with the palate cleanser.
A beautiful dinning establishment. I was quite cold during dinner, in which I had to put my jacket on.
Our server was fabulous and very helpful(can't remember her name).
The service was incredible. The ambiance was great sitting by the fire. The place was pretty quiet with only one other table of people there when we arrived. The date night deal was fantastic, however I think our food had been cooked and sitting under heat lamps oor something for a while as it was quite over done. My wife ordered her steak medium and it was well done. I ordered the venison medium-rare and it was also well done. The starters were great and the portions are a good size. Overall it was a good experience and we'll go back, maybe just at a later time in the evening when it's busier.
The dining room was beautiful and the service was good. Was not thrilled that our only choice was a table d'hote menu, but understandable seeing as it is the down season and is hard to keep many items fresh. Also the price of $109 per couple was reasonable as it included a bottle of wine from a decent list or $29 off any bottle from the full wine list. The turkey spring roll appetizer was delicious but definitely too large. One spring roll would have been plenty. The main course of seared tuna was very lack lustre. The dish obviously sat for some time waiting either for garnish or food runner and the portion was quite small (but luckily I ate both spring rolls...). The pesto it came with was delicious but again not enough (and its was cold...not sure if that was intentional). My side of pomme frites was disappointing as they were simply fries one would get with a burger there at lunch time. I had expectations of large hand cut pieces of potatoes (and the fries were barely luke warm and unseasoned).
Desert was good - a banana bread pudding - but too large. One piece would have been plenty.
Was nice to see the manager going around touching tables and checking on things. I know I can be over critical sometimes so I didn't wat to make a fuss with my observations.
Overall was very enjoyable and I will be back when the full menu is available.
I was not happy with the false advertisement on their website. Their website only shows one menu which is a date night for 2 menu where you get 3 courses and a bottle of wine for $99 - upon arrival we were told this is not the case and given an a la carte menu that was completely different - dinner was twice as much. It doesn't take much to change a website and that is extremely misleading. Also I have an allergy to blue cheese and after it showed up on my salad I had told the waitress only to receive it on my $38 steak AGAIN. Instead of being offered a new steak she just apologized and I had to pick it off my steak. For those 2 reasons I would not be going back there.
Other than the view and the setting, the whole experience was very poor, from the service to the choice of food--the evening fish special was poorly described, poorly cooked and had to be sent back-the only good choice for the evening was the wine.
We went to this restaurant for Father's Day brunch. We arrived at 10:45, and by 11:00 we had still not been served. My wife approached a server and we were finally given lunch menus, when we asked for breakfast menus, we were told that breakfast was not served after 11:00. When we informed them that we had been seated for 15 minutes, the server reluctantly brought us breakfast menus. My three guests ordered breakfast and I ordered the burger from the lunch menu. Our food arrived almost an hour later, the breakfast entrées were good (but not great) and the burger was inedible...the fries were over-cooked and the beef patty was as tough as shoe leather. We even had to wait a half-hour to get our bill...we won't be back.
This was our second visit to Rustica and enjoyed the experience as much as the first visit. Great food and nice ambience. Only SMALL criticism .. the restaurant was very busy and it seemed they were a little understaffed - it took a bit long to be served and then get our bill at the end of the evening. Will still definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rustica to others.
