Rustica Ristorante - Chester Ratings and Reviews
When we first arrived, we had a drink, waiting for another couple. You did not have a very common wine that I asked for. We were served two meals and five minutes later served the other two. The meals were definitely not worth the price, nothing special, and the portions were small. My gnocchi was just mush. We asked two people for more bread, and never received it. The waiter never checked back with us after we were served. Extremely disappointed.
We went for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. We chose Rustica's rather than a restaurant at the casino because we wanted a quiet, charming place to dine with good food and an excellent wait staff. We found the restaurant to be even better than we remembered. We are still talking about when we can go again.
What an Italian gem! Homemade ravioli, pappardelle......and gnocchi which we will try next time! Wait staff was spot on. Perfection. Asked owner to stop by our table, he delightfully accommodated. Delish dessert and coffee, we will be back! Found on open table, new to area. Thrilled with entire meal.
Our first time will not be our last! The gnocchi Alfredo was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The duck breast with cherries was perfectly prepared. The coconut cake with caramel sauce ended the meal on a high note. Excellent food, service and perfect for after the concert at Chester Meeting House.
Ww often go to the Goodspeed Opera Housei in East Haddam. It is but a few miles from there to thr restaurant just outside oChester. The menu is Italian with an emphasis onNorthern Itallian. The wine list has an excellent selection Italian wines. The food is fresh. The service we found to bebothfriendly and excellent. The food is reasonably priced. The 30 percent reduction in the price of wine on Wednesday makes a good value even better.
Rustica never disappoints! We have had dinner here for New Year's Eve, birthdays and date night. Andres is always so attentive and welcoming. We sat in the bar at a very nice high top table on our last visit. It did get a bit loud but that may have because of the group sitting right next to us. The food was excellent and the portions are just right. We are looking forward to going again soon.
Overall nice experience and the food was very good. The service was on the slow side and the server forgot to bring bottled water. Air conditioning was turned up too high so we all felt a bit chilly and the noise level made it difficult to talk without straining. Would definitely give it another try, esp if we were going to the Goodspeed.
The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived but eventually our waiter took our drink order and everything else was good....
Our cocktails were awesome as was the Brussel Sprout salad though it was a tad sweet and would have been better with more tartness of lemon juice. The Antipasto Rustica was very good. Our entrees were also great and it was comforting to see they were able to accommodate a change by having the Ricotta Gnocchi served with the Funghi instead of Bolognese.
Dessert was goo (Afforato) as were the Espresso and Cappuccino coffees.
It definitively was a bit loud in the main dining room and it might be good to get more sound absorbing materials in there but we sure would return again when back in the area!!
The was our first time dining here. It was nice that they gave us a great table for 4 and we were only 2. Hunter was our server and he was wonderful. The fig appetizers were delicious and so was the calamari. My husband had the scallops and I had the cod. They were both served with spinach and rice so they were nothing special. We had the check paid at our table just waiting for Hunter so we could thank him again when one of the white shirt guys comes over and asks us if we could leave as the 7pm party is waiting. I thought that was rude as it was exactly 7pm and we were leaving we just wanted to say goodbye to our server. Well we walked out and did wave to Hunter across the room. Sorry we will not be back.
Service not good.We waited 30 minutes to get bread and had to request lime for our water 4 times before it was brought to our table. Once we were greeted by the owner,he was disinterested and never bothered to check on us. Food was delicious but the early slow service affected our overall experience.
