Rustic Kitchen in Boston, Massachusetts is a bistro and bar that features locally sourced dishes, many of which are based on what is in season. You could begin with tuna tartare or oysters on the half shell, veal meatballs or lemoncello shrimp cocktail. A variety of salads is available as well.

Seafood lovers will enjoy dishes like the roasted mustard crusted salmon, maple mustard glazed halibut and pan seared diver scallops. You might also try a steak cooked to order or a hand-made pizza at Rustic Kitchen.
We were running late for a show, and the hostess and waitress seated us and got us our appetizers very quickly. The variety of interesting menu items gave everyone something they liked. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to eat dinner.
The Rustic Kitchen is a lively, energetic and exciting venue that just happens to have SUPERB food and TERRIFIC service!!! The hostess treated us as special guests when we asked if we could change our seats to the vibrant bar area - never even skipping a beat to make us happy. Our waitress, Sophia, was friendly and professional, allowing us to take our time and enjoy our evening. The food was "over the top" with flavor, presentation and quality! We loved it! And who knew there was a Cooking Show on the premises to boot!!!
I wish they had a better wine selection and the food was not as great as I expected. Great just to meet up for some drinks and apps. The apps were definitely better than the meals itself.
Service was fantastic! Beautiful and unique decor. Food was excellent for both adults and family with 1 child and 2 teens. Perfect dinner spot before seeing a show.
One of the best things at Rustic Kitchen is that it's centrally located and available on Open Table. Most nights we've tried to go there, there was ample space to get seated. The cocktail menu is fun and tasty. In general, the dishes are served hot, well presented, and flavorful. I had the seared tuna special this time around, with wasabi mashed potatoes. The tuna was nice, but the mashed potatoes needed a hint of salt -- despite the horseradish they were kind of bland. My colleagues got dishes they loved, though, so it was definitely luck of the draw!!
The food is excellent, and for the location in the heart of the downtown, the prices were very fair and portions generous. I was surprised that for the brunch on a Saturday afternoon there was only a handful of people there!
The place has been decorated very well, with the lighting and decor matching the mood they were trying to create of a 'rustic kitchen'. I wasn't that happy with our server, who seemed to come and go as he pleased more than watching where we were with our food.
great atmoshpere and food. service was great. would go again.
We made reservations at Rustic Kitchen since we were staying next door at the Radisson. The place was great! The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable, the food was excellent and presented well (I had mushroom tortellini and my wife had egg noodles with a bolognese sauce), and the service was very good (our server was knowledgable and attentive). We would certainly return if we stayed nearby again.
Great Night!Food was Great!Service was Better!
We were giving the Rustic Kitchen a second try. During our previous dinner, the service was very unsatisfactory, but we thought perhaps it was waiter dependent. We spoke to the management and they were very responsive and encouraged us to return and we were glad we did. The service was impecabble, and the food was fabulous. We will certainly visit again.
Food was pretty good. I had the shrimp spaghettini and it was just OK - kind of bland - needed some more flavor. Appetizers were good. Fried had haddock which he liked. Desert was oreo cookie cheesecake which was good. Thought overall the restaurant was a little pricey for what you got.
Staff was good and restaurant atmosphere was really nice.
Food was alright. Fairly oily and very rich. Tend to agree with friends who told me dessert was necessary to 'cut the butter' flavor at the end of your meal. The dessert menu looked great but skipped it despite my friends recommendations.
Food and atmosphere were great but the service was very slow. We had dinner during the Icelandic week and were told that it would be 10-15 min b/w courses. The gap b/w one of our courses was over 30 min and I could see the table next to us getting their courses a lot quicker. My thought is that the delay was due to the special menu so I would definitely try it again.
I had a good experience. I would go again and recommend it. I had diver scallops and they were cooked perfectly. There were three in our party and we also had the salmon and third dish was haddock. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We had calamari for a starter and it was excellent. It has some jalapeños in it which I really liked. Nice and spicey. My one knock is I am not crazy for the bread.
Another comment I will add is the Icelandic menu looked great but it was too much food for me. I don't eat desert so if there was a lighter fare version of the Icelandic menu I might have chosen that.
We have not dined her often but every time has been wonderful- the food, service and ambience make this a great place to go
I attended a Taste of Iceland dinner here, so I can't comment on the regular Menu, but the Special Menu was Delicious! The chef at Orange Restaurant in Reykjavik, Thorarinn Eggertsson, prepared an interesting 4-course menu and personally visited each table which ordered his dishes!
The restaurant itself is loud and busy, and the cocktails that my partner and I ordered were good, but just okay. Not a bad place, but I'm not sure I'd return unless there was a special event (i.e Celebrity Guest Chef) taking place.
This restaurant is a wonderful addition to the great eateries in the theater district.
The food is wonderful and is brought to the table decorated in a very appealing manner.
We mainly ate three different fish dinners and each had a distinct flavor.
the only item I wasn't crazy about was the Oreo cheesecake as I am spoiled by the rich tastes of another restaurant.
I would recommend this restaurant highly.
Visiting the Rustic Kitchen during the "Taste Of Iceland" promotion with their guest Chef Thorarinn Eggertsson was fantastic! The menu was fun and delicious. Our Flying Calamari was delivered on two large orange balloons which was entertaining. The regular menu was very tempting and we're looking forward to dining there again soon to try it out. Another special surprise was the Viking Studio/Show Kitchen where they offer a taped cooking class in which your meal is prepared by a chef in front of you! We definitely have to try that out as well!!! Give the Rustic Kitchen a try and enjoy! :)
Rustic Kitchen is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Boston. The atmosphere, the fantastic food, the location, everything about it makes you want to come back as soon as you can. I could never say a bad word about it.
Great service and delicious food
We went on a Tuesday night and had a table in an alcove which was great because my friend and I had so much to catch up on. My salmon was a little overcooked and dry which is why I only put 4 stars. My friend loved her scallops and we both loved the delicious, inventive vegetable sides. The wine was very good. My friend was still raving about her meal the next night. This was a great choice.
I would recommend Rustic Kitchen and it has the best Beef Short Rib!
Very enjoyable evening. Great service. excellent dinner. it was our second visit and once again we were not disappointed.
I had expected to be able to get full meal service when I made the reservation for Sunday Lunch. Nothing on the website said that only a limited menu would be available. Food was okay -- nothing special and certainly more limited than one would expect for Brunch!
Food was amazing!!Make sure you order the lobster and artichoke dip. It is out of this world good. I had the petit filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Waitress was very kind and didn't rush us to order which is much appreciated. My friends and I were there for over two hours and had a nice, leisurely, delicious meal. This place is a gem!
The food was too heavy for me. Too much butter and sauce but otherwise pleasant.
The place was comfortable, clean & not too loud. The Cosmos & wine were very good, but the Fig pizza was overpriced and lacked taste. The pasta dish was not HOT, as was the Roasted Duck, had to be sent back.
wonderful time and great service!
took my parents who are afraid of the city knowing that its laid-back atmosphere and big fireplace would put them at ease. The food was really good and the server was very nice.
I had been to Rustic Kitchen for lunch a few times and had a great experience, and great food. Dinner was a totally different story. The service was HORRIBLE! It took a while for our waitress to get to our table, so when she came we ordered drinks, apps and dinner all together. Our appetizer dishes were cleared a good 10 minutes before we even got our drinks!!! The waitress was apologetic, but it didn't help. I had come with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday, and left embarrassed to have suggested this restaurant. I will not be going back.
Wide variety of foods on the brunch menu
We dined at Rustic Kitchen on Valentines Day and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and outstanding food. The restaurant is large, but divided into smaller rooms that feel more private. Our food was delicious. Home made pasta, fish that was cooked to perfection and fresh ingredients. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
My boyfriend and I went for Valentine's Day and it was excellent because it wasn't a preset menu and it's a cozy place that can be dressy and romantic or a cool place to chill with your friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We weren't there at a busy hour, but if it was busy, I'm not sure how efficient the waitstaff would be. The noise was also excessive for a relatvely empty place. However, the food was excellent, and our waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Excellent waiter. Food was amazing, so cool inside. Very quiet, good wine list and great great great martinis. I will be going back someday.
Food was fine, service was awful. The timing is off and they appear to be very understaffed.
We arrived for an 8pm reservation and the hostess was on the phone for about 6 minutes while we just stood there. It would have been helpful if the restaurant had more than one person at the hostess stand. When we were seated, our order was taken immediately and the food came out so fast (apps and dinner almost simultaneously)that we were wondering what the rush was.
I had to ask for a spoon 3 times and extra plates since we were sharing. We had asked for all this with our order.
I absolutely would not go back.
I thought the food was great and the atmosphere was perfect for a quiet dinner for two that wasn't going to break the bank.
The menu was great. It had enough variety so that those seeking more traditional recipes and those seeking more adventurous recipes could each get what they want. The food was very good, as was the drink selection.
We go to the Rustic Kitchen fairly regularly...probably 4 to 6 times a year.We enjoy the food - particularly the rustic caesar and my wife is very fond of the baked rigatoni. I usually get one of the specials. We always leave happy and full. The location is great if you doing anything downtown near the theater district.Only issue, really, is the hostess and floor manager. They have the pretentions and air-of-importance of a Michellen 4 star...and Rustic Kitchen most certainly is not. I'd put up one more star in each category with a change there...
i went before with a fairly large group about 10 to 12 individuals. we had a private room. it was a good time. i enjoyed it then and recommended that co-workers and myslef go there for a ladies night out. I was EMBARASSED, we waited about 1 1/2 hour for our meal for three people. i had to leave in the winter to go feed the parking meter because we waited so long. there a=was no apology from the waitress or the courtes to inform us on what was taking so long. i couldn't understand why it took long for three meals, but when i first went there with over 10 people it didn't tae that long. i was also shock because my second time there the restaurant wasn't busy. despite all of that THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD AND COMPENSATED FOR THE LONG WAIT!!!!
