Rustic, Francis's Favorites Ratings and Reviews
Spent a good time with my friends. The challenge, however, was eating at a table that seemed too small for 5 people. Our plates and drinks were smushed together and we had to be extremely careful so as to not knock someone's drink over because all dishes were touching each other. That wait staff didn't seem to care about it. Food was decent but slightly overpriced for the quality. For my friends the attraction was more the movie artifacts in the building than the food, so we were okay.
If you like dining in an amusement park atmosphere then you've come to the right place. The food was underwhelming and the service even more so. Never had the opportunity to try Francis' wine as the server completely skipped that part of the script. Rewrites and re-editing are badly needed.
We did the special tasting menu with wine pairings for lunch and the food was fantastic, the portions were large and the pours were generation. We also had an excellent waiter. Only wished it had been a little warmer so that we could sit on the terrace and look at the amazing view.
A beautiful place to visit and explore. We got a table at the window and enjoyed looking
at the vines below us. Even better was the wait staff. Our waiter answered all our questions
about the menu. Our food was excellent including the wine. We even had dessert.
The dessert was an after thought after I had asked for a check. Not a problem.
It was a 2 hour drive to get to the restaurant but well worth it.
Decided to venture out for a good meal on a rainy Friday evening, Rustic came to mind earlier in the week so I booked a few days in advance. We were seated in our favorite booth which is always a plus and usually, we request a servicer (Kareem, Vanessa and Stephanie are at the top of our list) since we are regulars at Rustic. This time, we left it to fate and glad we did. Our server for the evening was Francis and he was top notch. Francis provided us with VIP attention throughout the evening. The food was delicious, wine heavenly and my cocktail spot on.
We had a wonderful lunch for a party of 8 (which included 2 children). The food was awesome, service exceptional (we left a well deserved tip for our waitress on top of the gratuity that was automatically added to our bill), staff wonderful. My husband and I have eaten at Rustic several times, and wanted to take family who were visiting from Vermont and Singapore to experience the restaurant. My nephew is a chef and owns 2 restaurants in Singapore, and he said he thoroughly enjoyed the food. He was also interested in the stove that was behind our table, and spent a little time talking to the cook working there.
This is the second time I have visited the restaurant. The first time was several years ago when a friend and I had ordered Mrs. Scorcese's Lemon Chicken and found it so bitter as to be inedible. Recently, tried again and one member of our party had to send his chicken back to be cooked further and another was sick the entire night and into the next day. I think last time I'll be visiting. I want to like, the setting is beautiful and I'm a Coppola fan but not of the restaurant.
Our dinner at Rustic was to be a special occasion. We had out of town guests in addition to the first time my son and his new bride were visiting from Michigan. We had a fun time exploring and sharing the winery. The food was good, however, the service was not. One entree was a completely different order. The waiter was no where to be found. We kept waiting...to have our order taken, to be served, to be checked on, to place our dessert order and then to get our check. When it came time to pay our bill I flagged down another waiter and said "It appears our waiter has abondeded us. Can you please take our check?" This is very unusual for this venue. Usually the wait staff is very attentive. From the time we were seated until the time we left was almost 3 hours. We tried not to let it effect our special event but everyone commented on the lack of service, especially when the tip was automatically added to the bill as our party was six people. A bummer but we made the best of an awkward situation. I hope you have a better experience. I will note the lack of service is a very unusual occurrence at Coppola's.
The food was good overall. The rack of lamb was amazing but could use a sauce or something because the bed of rice underneath the lamb was dry. Unfortunately we went the day after Christmas so they were out of at least 6 items on their feature menu. This was very disappointing maybe they could plan better next year. The ambiance was very charming especially in a cold winter's night. The prices were very affordable especially for a winery & there were plenty of good wines on the lower end of the price scale which is very refreshing! Enjoy
This was our second trip to Rustic, this one entirely out of convenience, but it was vastly improved from the first, and now we'd consider returning. We stayed away from the more intricate entrees and stuck with appetizers, sandwiches and pizza, and they were all good. The crust on the pizza was especially tasty, and the Quattro Formaggio had noticeably good cheese, and the 4 could be discerned. The sausage sandwich was very spicy, but luckily the patron enjoyed the heat. I loved the marinated olives and the mozzarella appetizers. The olives were citrusy and were complimented with herbs rather than overwhelmed (many a time has a good olive been subject to devastating rosemary).
Hello Rustic team
Have been to the restaurant 3 times now. It's a go to place when we are in the area. From the first call to reserve to the last call of ready to be seated. That process is seamless.
Table service very attentive in a good way.
Never disappointed in dishes coming out of kitchen. If you are looking to impress, take you family and friends to a unique dinning experience .
Ps fun walking through Museum
Our server was fantastic! I think her name was Stephanie, blond, attractive, thin, very personable, really took care of us. I hope we get to be at her table when we come back tomorrow.
We live 15 minutes away but we have never dined here! Unforgiveable! We had a great time, the wine was excellent and the lamb was incredible. It is now one of our favorite spots in Sonoma co.
We came at night so we did not see any views but ,as I said, we'll be there tomorrow for a late lunch. Christmas decorations were great. The whole place is great and I truly enjoyed the 10 year anniversary menu with the possibility to taste many things vs. having just one.
Beautiful restaurant, good service. Unfortunately, I was engaged in conversation and did not ask enough questions about the meal I ordered (lemon chicken). It was listed as one of Francis Ford Coppolla's wife's favorites so I gave it a try. If you like boiled, dark meat chicken wings, then this is your meal (it was served in a large bowl with the wings drowning in a lemony liquid). Unfortunately, I dislike any boiled meat, especially dark little chicken wings. I honestly had to choke down what little meat there was on these wings. Thankfully, I had great wine to chase it down. Suggestion if you eat here...ask questions about your meal. My bad here...
We had a group of eight and it was hard for everyone to hear each other because of the noise level in the restaurant. It seemed like the food was overpriced for what you got.
Note to OPEN TABLE. I made a reservation for 12:30 and received a confirmation of that time, but then I received a second confirmation for 11:30..... I called the restaurant and found out that the reservation had been made for 11:30. Good thing I checked or we would have shown up an hour later than they were expecting us. Important to double check reservations.
Four of us went there to celebrate a friend's birthday on the restaurant's Tuesday night family dinner, where there is no menu and they just serve you one thing after another every few minutes. Eat all you want for one fixed price (drinks are extra). The food was mostly good Italian fare, the atmosphere was fun. Great wine list at reasonable prices - we had a bottle of Coppola's "Director's" Merlot for $21 and it was great. There's lots of display rooms where you can see things from famous Coppola movies, and the whole place is quite impressive and opulent with two big Italian-style staircases going up to the restaurant, a big resort-like pool, a gift shop, etc. (There is an elevator and ramp for the mobility-impaired.) It's right off the freeway (Route 101) so very easy to get to. This is not haute cuisine but I recommend it for an informal fun night out that's different. You just get into the swing of it, sit back and enjoy yourself and let the food come. A fun place to go with friends (probably not the best choice for an intimate dinner for two, as the noise level is quite high at times). An experience.
