The Russia House is a uniquely warm and authentic dining experience located on the corner of Connecticut and Florida in the DuPont Circle neighborhood. Reminiscent of the era of the Tsars, our Russian-European elegance is the perfect place for a meeting of 10 or a reception of 400.
View Private Dining DetailsWe had a great time and a great experience. Thanks Russia House.
My daughter loves everything Russian and wanted to dine here. The food was delicious and beautiful. We wish there were true Russian deserts.
Wonderful place to partake the best of Russian/European cuisine. Amazing selection of vodkas.
Had borscht and vodka and beer and stroganoff and it was all amazing!
The food and the service was amazing. We had a group of 6 and they seated us in our own private little room which was great so that we could all catch up and talk. The server was attentive and provided excellent recommendations.
The ambiance is great. Would definitely go back.
Food was good, vodka was great and service was outstanding!
This was not our first visit and we look forward to going! We had a lovely server and ordered our flight of vodkas , bread and pelmini, which were all good! My Kiev was not cooked , so she took my whole dinner back and I sat and watched my husband eat his! !0 minutes later, I get another Kiev not cooked and she removed my whole dinner so I had nothing to eat!! Could have at least left me the potatoes and vegetables! WIthout asking brought a lava cake for dessert and the middle was cold! We will not be going back. Has to be a reason we were the only ones in the restaurant!
Food and staff delightful. The price was a bit high, so be prepared; this is not a "cheap date" sort of place.
while food and ambiance were good, was surprised that menu and price were fixed and not allowed to order food or drinks from the online menu for happy hour. Other patrons left as a result. It would be best if they let customers know ahead that the menu and price are fixed to avoid an awkward situation.
Would recommend the sampler of Vodka, a different experience and great food!
The Russia House was an amazing experience. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The Taking Root Pinot Grigio from Moldova was the best wine I’d had in quite a while. The bread they brought was absolutely wonderful. The beef stroganoff and the chicken Kiev was truly amazing experiences each. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Daniella was fantastic
Even though we told the waitress, who was very accommodating, that we are on low-salt diets, the food was unbearably salty. It was also unbearably creamy. All the dishes were too rich. After the appetizer, I could not eat my entrée, so I brought it home. The dessert was just okay.
The food was more French than Russian. But, regardless, it was delicious. The ambiance was Russian style. The server was from the middle East and forgetful.
The caviar was delicious and served appropriately. We had a fabulous time.
The restaurant is beautiful and the decor amazing. The food is exceptional. However, the poor service and noise level marred the experience.
Great restaurant week menu!
The service was initially quite good, but as the evening continued our server disappeared and so we couldn't ask for another glass of wine or for the food to be seasoned properly. One of us liked the food; the other found it bland and featureless. The décor needs updating -- the carpeting on the stairs is at least 10 years past replacement, and the wallpaper was peeling from the walls. If we hadn't come during restaurant week, it would have been an extremely expensive disappointment. Instead, it was only a moderately expensive disappointment.
Have been here twice now and everything we've had has been delicious.
Loved Russia House!! Went with my daughter who has spent time in Russia and was craving Russian food. It was a freezing night, and the warm ambiance of the cozy restaurant hit the spot. There was a gas fire in our 6 table room. Red Velvet cocktail was delicious, as were the pelmeni with mushroom sauce, the chicken Kiev and the pierogi. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed ger classic Baltika beer, and her Beluga vodka (which looked like a large shot). Food is adjusted for American taste - I thought it was delicious. Our server was super nice and explained all the offerings. It was a thoroughly lovely evening.
Started with a vodka sampler. Pierogies and the boar sausage for apps. Followed by the Salmon in puff pastry, Stroganoff and lamb. All was excellent as was the very attentive waitress. Did I mention like a 100 vodkas on the menu?
As always,Russia House was great. Fine Russian cuisine and excellent vodka.
We went to Russia House before we went to a comedy club in DuPont. As always the food and service was absolutely wonderful.
Our server was very good and courteous but the hostess and the server at the upstairs bar section were not friendly
Food was ok, drink was very good
I surprised my fiancé for his birthday with happy hour here, and we both loved it! The happy hour menu is really affordable, and the food is fantastic. The bartender even gave us two complementary birthday shots! We look forward to going again soon.
We enjoyed the ambiance in the private dining room and loved the very good service
Wonderful ! Very warm atmosphere. Great for a cozy winter evening. Interesting menu. The food quality was excellent.
My wife and were in town on a combination of business and pleasure. We chose Russia House for dinner because it was close to our hotel. We were not disappointed: excellent good and service, with a nice romantic ambience, and quiet enough for us to converse normally. We highly recommend Russia House for dinner.
The Russia house certainly is a superb find in DC.
Excellent menu representing the best of Russian cuisine. Unmatched cocktails and excellent ambiance make for a memorable evening.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday here and she thoroughly enjoyed herself as did I.
Food is priced somewhat high but the presentation and ingredients to warrant the cost. Appetizers are excellent but portions are on the smaller side in my opinion.
Entrees are similar but ingredients are hearty and rich so the food is filling.
Service was impeccable as was the timing of the food. Cocktails and vodka menu are unmatched in the area trust me on this.
Overall it’s well worth the cost and the elegant decor makes you feel like you’re truly in a regal setting.
Five stars
Very mediocre. A good bar, but poor food service. I will not return.
The food was o.k. the restaurant was dirty. I can't believe how dirty the floor was!
I will never go back.
Daniela was incredible, great recommendations and conversations.
The food was outstanding and service can not be beat.
Highly recommended
The restaurant did not have a working A/C in the dining area (windows were not allowed to be opened), and the bar was way to noisy for a business meeting. I wish the restaurant could have reached out to me prior the visit to alert about technical issues they were facing at that time.
Organized a birthday party. The room was nice, the server was attentive an professional, and the food and drinks were fantastic. It is a little pricey, but they also have good happy hour specials.
The vodka selection was amazing and the house infused speciality vodka sampler was perfect! The food was authentic and delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly. We will go back for sure.
When ever I am in DC I eat here! I have recently become handicapped and they were very easy to arrange entrance without having to climb stairs.
This Russia House has an authentic feel and menu. Caviar, blinis and plov were amazing and we recommend it highly!
Wonderful food; great wines from a part of the world with which most people wouldn't be familiar. Very quiet for those who want to be able to hear what their dinner partners are saying! The service is very attentive without smothering the diner. We felt as though we could have had the table all evening without being pushed out the door.
Will dine here again!
The only downfalls to the experience was that the crowd of millennials would not move so people could walk through, and our server could have been a little more friendly/enthusiastic. Maybe she was having a bad day.
Quiet night for a late dinner but excellent service (prompt and polite) and excellent food (borscht was delicious as always). On the pricier side but always worth a special occasion.
Air conditioning wasn't working, which is pretty tragic when it's August in DC, and they tried to seat us downstairs where it was muggiest, but eventually agreed to let us sit at a table upstairs where they had a window unit A/C running and it was much cooler. No idea why they were forcing people into the hot basement. I'm sure the A/C was just a fluke, but just puzzling that they weren't seating people where it was actually cool.
Food and drink were great though, and our waitress was outstanding!!
