Me and my friend had a great time at the Russia House. The food and drinks were great, the service was amazing, waiting time wasn't bad at all. Im really glad we went to try it out as we only stayed in Washington for one evening.
We arrived a little late and they graciously seated us anyway. The food was hot, freshly made and delicious!
One of the worst meals we had all week. It was sad since Russia House was routinely one of our favorite stops when we are in town. However, this trip included being out of caviar. A Russian restaurant with no caviar?! The beef in the stroganoff was tough and grisly. The chicken Kiev squirted with fat when I cut into it. It was mediocre, at best. Not all the wines were available and unfortunately, there are way too many excellent restaurants in DC to make a return visit.
Great food, nice atmosphere, perfect for a date or a business meeting or a date. Highly recommended
Great introduction to traditional Russian cuisine, especially from the appetizer offerings. The Georgian white was crisp and invigorating.
Great food! Awesome server staff. Really quiet but we went on a Sunday evening. We didn't want to eat big portions so the dining staff accommodated us with splitting dishes.
Vodka options are interesting and very good. We ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed every one. This was our second visit, and we were not disappointed as it was just as good as the first time.
Service was wonderful, food was fantastic! We will be back! Thank you!
Quality dining with very friendly service, but don't come if you're in a rush as the food preparation time is long (European versus American speed).
Excellent in every way. Perfect place to eat and drink
This was the best prepared authentic Russian dinner ever enjoyed by my wife and me. Our server was genuinely charming and efficient. While the decision on where to sit was a bit of a conflict, with every space as enticing as the next, we opted to park upstairs and were not disappointed. Doing so brought us closer to the bar where bottles of "real" Vodka graced the shelves and Russian pop music emanated at just the right volume, flawlessly transporting us from our capital to another. Hats off to management and the owners for making sure their narrow niche in a city flooded with international cuisine, remains appropriately occupied by Russia House!
An enjoyable evening with great service. The borscht and blinis were excellent. The beef filet good but ordinary. The verenigue were good but the black truffle sparse in flavor
Good vodka selection, the flights were nice. Food was average at best. Service was good
We love this place. For a special birthday celebration our group of ten has the small private room downstairs. It’s perfect.
Food was good.
Great meal and service, it's one of my favorites when visiting the area.
Service was slow.. Ordered champagne.. I had to go Downstairs to ask the wine list because there was no staff on the second floor. After some time server finally came and got the order. it took half an hour to get it and then it was not what we ordered.. they didn’t have a bottle we wanted.. so we just asked the check and left. Food was ok, I guess service could make the experience better but definitely didn’t. Won’t come back.
The restaurant was pleasant but the food was ordinary. The gravelax was however excellent and the service also good. But the main courses were not good enough for the price.
Russia House is a regular on our trips to D.C. We enjoy the food, staff and relaxed atmosphere. If your a Vodka fan, I highly recommend trying yourself a flight of Vodka.
The food is great. The duck is very tasty and the beef stroganoff is yummy.
Service ok and the inside of the restaurant needs a major refresh. Ripped fabric on the seats. Very disappointing.
Food was fantastic, atmosphere was lovely. Great service and terrific vodka.
Went for a birthday
We love this place!
One of my go-to restaurants in DC. Excellent everything.
Our waitress offered great suggestions which led to quite an authentic Russian dining experience. The vodka sampler was awesome!!
we had a fine time with vodkas at the bar, so much so that we had our dinner there too
all very good
best pierogies ever
Russia House is a unique experience that brings the food of the Tsars to your table. The Vodka flight was so much fun and the freshly made perogies were absolutely amazing. We are going to bring our friends to Russia House when they visit from Germany.
My partner and I enjoyed the Valentine’s Day dinner menu & drinks just last week. The selection was limited but still gave you plenty of options (vegetarian too). The portions & prices were comensurate. Will be back soon!
Lovely atmosphere. Waitress was gracious. Food was delicious
Daniela the hostess is wonderful and accommodated every detail. The service throughout Russia House is outstanding!
Russia House is always a wonderful experience with attentive service and EXCELLENT cuisine. A wonderful place to try wines from Moldova, as well!
Wanted the 3 course special. No pierogis available (which is why we came). No acceptable substitute offered. Blinis were cold. Chicken Kiev was under cooked, not flowing wit butter.
We enjoyed the food and service! We would definitely come back!
The food is alway tasty and authentic to Russian cuisine.
We love Russia house and we will continue to go there. We we were disappointed that on New Year’s Eve they only served the New Year’s Eve menu...that’s completely understandable but I wish we had been told that other menu items were not available. We went there for specific dishes. We still had an enjoyable time :)
What?! No Hammer and Sickle vodka again?? Docking 2 stars.
Thanks for the feedback, Hong! Unfortunately, Hammer & Sickle Vodka has been difficult to locate over the past year -- their brand was dropped by their former distributor, so we've been unable to get H&S back in stock until another licensed distributor picks up the brand. I've been in contact with the H&S importer to try and resolve this issue, but with no luck (yet). If you'd like any info regarding the availability of H&S, feel free to give us a call! -Russia House Management
Great service. Good food. Right sized portions. Great presentation
My wife and daughter are from Russia, and wondered what was so “Russian” about Russia House. The food selection was Russian based but a very limited selection. There was little creativity to make the restaurant more authentically Russian, such as authentic ethnic costumes for the staff, live musicians, or even a MUCH larger menu selection that is the norm in Russia itself. Also the building was in no way designed or decorated in a Russian motif, other than the flag in the front, but at least they played a good selection of traditional and modern Russian music.
The food was very good, but the prices were very high. If your looking for good food and don’t mind paying through the nose, this is a good choice. If you want an authentic Russian cultural experience, keep looking.
