Wonderful meal with excellent service.
Quiet ambiance, tasty Russian cuisine, excellent service, friendly staff. What more could one ask?
This is a very good restaurant. The food is very good.
Great evening at Russia House in Herndon. From the opening cocktails to desert everything was cooked to order, looked fantastic, and tasted great. I had a rack of lamb and my wife had scallops. Both were wonderful. The staff is wonderful and very helpful with the menu and service. Very nice meal.
Great, friendly staff that really seems to care about their customers and their restaurant and its offerings. Food is great too! I went with the classic beef stroganov (made with filet!) and borscht, and both were excellent!
Wonderful place for a birthday dinner. The flavored vodka was fun--I recommend the butterscotch. Great service and quaint atmosphere. Will go back!
We love the Russia house, it always feels like we are welcome guests into the owners home, and it is so nice to have someo e else do the cooking. The food is excellent and a cut above the others. We will return many times.
We travel to the Dulles area several times a year. We found this restaurant on open table our last trip and now it is a regular visit when we are in town. The husband and wife owners greet everyone personally and make us feel like a VIP. They sincerely appreciate every guest. We always start with caviar and Russian Standard Vodka! They prepare a table side Caesar salad which is excellent. For desert I always get the butterscotch flavored vodka which I have never seen before. We look forward to returning on our next trip!
The food was good - not great. That is all I can say about it. The service was outstanding and staff friendly. Pricing was way out of sight. Everything is Ala cart. Two people with identical appetizer, soup and entree' was over $99.00 for lunch - no drinks or desert. That, for a small restaurant in Herndon is outrageous.
The proprietors, Alex and Homira, make you feel like family. The food is always prepared fresh. Root vegetables and cabbage tend to accompany most dishes and are very good. The main course is a perfectly cooked meat/fish accompanied by a unique sauce that is to die for. I have never been disappointed and return every time I am in town.
We enjoyed our evening from start to finish. Food was delicious, wonderful atmosphere, easy to find parking and the parking was free!
Food was, in some instances, very good. Some vegetables though were over cooked. Main course and potatoes were very good. Service was exceptional. Have not had service this good in a very very long time.
Outstanding food and service! One of my favorites!
The second time was as good as the first. We'd first visited Russia House last December and found it excellent. This time, visiting for my wife's birthday, we found it just as nice. It was an off night, during Spring Break, so it was very quiet, but the food was wonderful. We upgraded our caviar selection and were glad we did. We ordered salmon and trout and though the sauce was delicious, I think we'll remember to order it on the side next time. All in all, a lovely way to finish our celebration and give us a chance to dress up just a bit.
We enjoy this place so much, that we enjoy it even more when we can introduce others to it. The food is amazing. Favorites include the scallops, French onion soup, table-side Caesar salad, chicken Kiev, beef stroganoff, the pork chop, and ...ok, it's all great! If you've not tried Russia House, do so. If you have, return for a wonderful treat.
We had a lovely meal here. The food was delicious and filling and the service was warm and helpful. It was an excellent way to mark an anniversary.
My wife and I went to Russia House for a nice "end of a stressful week" nice dinner. We had a wonderful bottle of wine, recommended by the owner, and tried authentic Russian food that we had never had before - Wonderful.
Decided to return for my husband's birthday. Hostess pleasant and gracious in nature. She even remembered us! Food services very hospitable, food server conscientious and accommodating. Food excellent! We were not disappointed! My complements to the chef!!!
Ali and Homerya are wonderful hosts and the menu is outstanding. From the moment you walk in they give you a smile and do everything possible to make a great dining experience .
The wine list provides many options and, everything on the menu is fantastic.
What an amazing experience! Never have been to a Russian restaurant before, the menu alone was a treat to read. I had the beef stroganoff and it was spectacular! Service made us feel right at home and very much appreciated. You will not be disappointed at this restaurant!
Russia House never disappoints. We had filet, Beef Stroganoff, bacon wrapped scallops, and grilled vegetables. Raves all around. While the snails were yummy, I would have preferred them solo (without the mushrooms). The service and attention were perfect. We had three special occasions and they fussed over us.
The food was fantastic, as the ambiance was quite nice. The service was slow at times, however they were very nice. I highly recommend this place!
I recommend the lamb pasta casserole, the beef dumplings, and the goose, veal and duck pate
We have been to Russia House several times since it moved across the street. Sometimes OK and sometimes not so OK. Last time was not a great experience since my wife did not feel well so we decided to try once again. The infused vodka cannot be beat and the food is great. The problem is that the staff is too small when they are busy and they were busy on Saturday night. 30 minutes between appetizers and the entrees is just unacceptable. There are too many really good restaurants in the Herndon/Reston area to keep trying the Russia House.
This was the first time I had dinner at the Russia House Restaurant, in Herndon, Virginia. The food and the service was outstanding. Russia House is also has a romantic atmosphere. The last time I had Russian this good was in the Russian Tea Room in New York many years ago. I will visit the restaurant again soon.
Excellent meals and service. Small restaurant reminds one of Europe. Will go there again!
This was our second visit and it was just as lovely as the first. The service is so nice - we are made to feel like we're having dinner at a friend's home.
This time we brought my husband's older daughter. She's very 'into' international cuisine and was excited to try Russia House.
We were seated this time in the small room with the antique cupboard filled with dolls and other charming items. On one wall there is a collage of plates highlighting teapots - just like grandma's house.
Our daughter had the cabbage dumplings, I had the chicken cubes over rice & my husband went for the Stroganoff, with noodles.
The chicken rice dish was wonderful. Our daughter polished off her dumplings & began eyeing her dad's dish. When he stopped eating about halfway through (saying it was great, but he was full ) our daughter asked if she could taste it. Of course that was fine and after one bite she was hooked. Her dad offered up the rest & she polished it off! (Later she recommended the dish to her sister who will be visiting soon. I'm sure this will mean our 3rd visit - yay.)
This was a wonderful place to meet up with a few friends. It reminded us of the guest houses in Europe (we'd all lived there years ago). We were very warmly welcomed at the Russia House. Several of us had the borscht. It was delicious. I also had the stuffed cabbage rolls & enjoyed them. My husband had duck with cherries. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I decided to try the Russia House after many years of contemplation. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was amazing. They were VERY attentive. We were worried about what to order and they have s unique menu. We were not disappointed. Will definetely go again.
We made reservation on open table for 9:30. We call to see if possible earlier time. The woman who answered the phone. Was pretty rude! I asked if there are any open tables. Earlier!!! Her response was "No". And hung up. "Wow". Well we showed up and hour early. And the place was empty. Really!!! Got. Right in. It was Valentines ! Are waiter was get!!! But they were very slow. Dinner was ok. We had the rack of lamb and pork chops. Dessert. They were out of a lot.
Very nice atmosphere and good service; this is a traditional valentine’s night out for us, and the owner and staff always make an effort to greet and meet make the evening very special. Highly recommend.
Excellent service. Food was prepared to perfection.
Great borscht, stuffed cabbage and salads. Very good selection of infused vodkas. The apricot was my favorite. Preferred it over blueberry.
Good overall. I think our server was new. A bit slow but friendly. The BIG deal for us is there were fresh lilies on the bar which we were seated pretty close to. As you know, lilies have a very strong smell. I find the smell to be very unpleasant. So I had to smell them throughout dinner. But I didn't say anything so it was my problem. We will be back. Food was excellent. Dish presentation was good and staff were very friendly.
I always look forward to the special treat of eating at the Russia house. The service is superb and the food specially delicious
We have dined several times over the past couple of years. The service is always attentive. The food is consistently very good to great. The ambiance is lovely. It is not inexpensive but it is worth the price.
AN OUTSTANDING DINING EXPERIENCE, START TO FINISH
THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO TREAT THEIR GUESTS
GREAT FOOD GREAT SETTING
Every time I visit Russia House, I have to ask myself why I am not there every week. No detail is missed in this very authentic fine dining venue. The classic tableside preparation of steak tartare is reason enough to visit, though the rest of the menu is nothing short of extraordinary. Despite the fact that this is absolutely a fine dining venue, I always leave feeling like I was visiting with and dining with family. No detail is every missed here, making this a venue that everyone will enjoy, again and again.
Great service, great food, definitely coming back!
The beef stroganoff was excellent. The people who run Russia House are extremely nice and accommodating.
As always, a lovely evening. We had the pleasure of re-introducing some friends to the wonderful tastes and service of Russia House. As always, the Chicken Kiev and Beef Stroganoff were wonderful, as was the Kulabiaka. But to be honest, the sauces take the dishes to the next level.
