Russia House Restaurant - Herndon
Meal was great...duck was well prepared but not dry, cherry sauce really good with duck. Polish beer great. This place is a hidden Herndon gem...do recommend it.
Our first time there and we both were very impressed and the food, service and environment was fantastic. We'll definitely be going back again.
This was first visit. We celebrated my wife birthday.
It was a surprise as she has never tried Russian cuisine. We were welcomed as if old friends retuning for a visit. The Beef Stroganov was well seasoned and excellent. The caviar was fresh. The wine list was just perfect with out overwhelming number of varieties. From appetizer to dessert the experience was outstanding and well worth the hour and a half drive.
The food was outstanding, the service impeccable, the owner delightful!
Can't wait to go back!
It was a wonderful evening. Borscht very good, snails superb, cornish hen and scallops excellent. Oh, and don't forget Russian martini!! First time there, and it won't be our last.
Great atmosphere. The unique menu had good and varied choices. Great wine list. The owner goes out of his way to ensure you enjoy your evening. The food was delicious.
Food was amazing, service was very slow both in acknowledging our presence as well as bringing out meals/drinks. Would recommend if you have the time to just enjoy the peacefulness.
Good food, very pleasant ambiance. Great date night restaurant!
An interesting menu of items that you might not find anywhere else. Game hen was prepared remarkably well. Scallops appetizer was also excellent. The menu of specialty drinks was extensive, and the martini I had (Katherine was Great) and mixed drink (the Russian Roulette) where both superb.
Excellent food and service! We have always enjoyed coming here to celebrate a special occasion.
Fantastic place. Authentic food, great service. Process is fantastic. The flavors match the atmosphere of the establishment.
The restaurant is in a lovely part of Chantilly, and the decor is charming. The concept of an Eastern European restaurant is good. But service was extremely slow. It took 45 minutes just to get bread rolls. This was baffling, given that the space was half-empty.
The drink cocktails are creative and tasty. I'll give them that. The servers are very sweet people, and I want to note that this seems like a family-owned and operated place. I don't want to be overly critical, Given that this seems to be the case, so I am giving what I feel is an honest review. But food is only adequate. The Chicken Kiev was dry, and I've definitely had better. Also the meal was quite expensive, considering the quality and amount that we ordered. Do I think the owners' hearts are in the right place? Yes. Would I go back? Probably not, unless I were in the town and other things were closed, or if they upgrade the meals and efficiency. This place has potential, but they just aren't there yet.
Won’t go back welcoming is very rude
Great Restaurant. We have been going there for years
A very enjoyable meal - well prepared and well presented - friendly hosts.
We are very glad we finally had dinner at The Russia House in Herndon! It brought back memories of our grandmother’s cooking ! The staff was very welcoming! We will definitely return, Thank You !
They treat us like family every time we go there. It is the first place we think of for special occasions.
A favorite of ours for a long time, the menu combines Russian and French cuisines. I have never had a bad thing to say about the food or service.
Good wine list and desserts
Owners are extremely warm and gracious hosts.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and look forward to returning soon.
It is definitely worthwhile to explore the vodkas that are on offer, as well!
We decided to try this restaurant after I picked up my husband at Dulles. We ordered the Ceasar salad prepared tables. It was so refreshing to have a real Caesar instead of the bottled dressing that most restaurants use. We had chicken Kiev and beef Stroganoff. We really enjoyed both and shared them. The vegetables were cooked well also. The chicken came with rice and grilled vegetables. The beef came with noodles, red cabbage and broccoli. Portions were ample and service was outstanding. Everyone treated us so kindly. We felt welcomed. We wish we lived closer.
The food was flavorful, however the value for the price was very low. We paid almost $80 for fettuccine with Gorgonzola (was labeled as bleu cheese but was not available that night) and a sprinkle of walnut and a duck breast with 3 cherries with an few sides (red cabbage, 3 carrots, 2 pieces of broccoli, and 4 scalloped potatoes). We also ordered an appetizer that we split that was two very small bread pockets stuffed with spiced ground beef. That was it....water to drink. I’m not a big eater so I always split my meals and take half home. When I opened my leftover chicken pasta the next day, the to-go box had soaked into the meal on the bottom and I had to cut it apart, losing half of my leftovers, since their boxes were unwaxed paper. For a restaurant open as long as they have been, seems like they’d know better than that, or they are just cutting corners to save profit. Final issue, made reservations through open table for points. Informed the host upon arrival, even though the dining room was empty save for one table. Got an email the next morning that the restaurant canceled my reservation. Seemed shady to me.
We had a birthday lunch. The Zakuski platter was delicious , the vodka appropriately chilled in nice shot glasses Za Vas !
The food, and service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend going for a wonderful meal. We will definitely be going back.
Try the beef stroganoff or the pork chop, just unreal and bold flavors. Also the butterscotch vodka for dessert. Expect about 60 per person, the dinner plates are not large enough to share. The food is just so very well done and authentic worth every penny.
The food is consistently good and the proprietors are always friendly and gracious. Great experience.
Delicious authentic Russian dishes. The vodka drinks were a particular standout. The service was great.
music was wonderfull, loved the Borscht, atmosphere is charming, employeesall very pleasant.
Wonderful experience for a spectacular anniversary dinner with my wife. Everything we ordered was top notch, truly memorable quality. The atmosphere is beautiful with lovely art pieces and special nesting dolls. The service was outstanding, the ladies were attentive and food came out at a perfect pace. We have found by far our favorite restaurant in Herndon and we will be back.
The food was really very good. However the wine choice was not good and they ran out of the wine we chose twice (yes 2 different ones). The people are lovely though and I would certainly go again.
Prices charged for soup were higher than prices online. It took at least 45 minutes for entrees to be served. Had to ask for water refills.
Everything I have tried is very good. One can confidently invite guests. I go to this restaurant frequently and every time my guests are very pleased and want to return themselves.
Outstanding food and atmosphere, just what we were looking for.
The food and service here is outstanding! If you are looking for fine dining, this is the place. I've been here twice with my husband and both times were fantastic. Amazing, friendly service and a quiet atmosphere. Very romantic setting! I tried the dry seared sea scallops, which I highly recommend! The second time I tried the wild salmon and it did not disappoint. I would also recommend trying the caviar appetizer. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
Great food and attentive service. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Easy to get to and free parking nearby
We hadn't been to Russia House in far too long. This time we shared the experience with an old friend, her first time there. And we shared all of our entrees with each other. What fun. And what good food, wine, and service. Our friend very much enjoyed Russia House, as did we. Can't wait to return.
This is the best restaurant in Northern Virginia in terms of food quality, service, and price. There are a few restaurants as good in terms of food, but are much more expensive. None are better in terms of service. This is a "must dine"destination for foodies and those seeking a special dinner on a special occasion.
If you want a first-class dining experience The Russia House in Herndon, VA is the place. The owners are masters of their craft and make everyone feel at home. Try the Ceasar Salad, Bacon-wrapped Scallops and Beef Stroganov, yum! In addition, get on their email list for the monthly wine pairing dinners, double yum! Cheers!
Wonderful location and decor. Very attentive staff. Food was tasty and presumably authentic. A bit overpriced, but that was anticipated. Overall, a very good experience I would recommend to friends and family.
Consistently very good. Owners are special people who exude warmth and friendliness making everyone feel at home/welcome.
Hot tools welcome you and an array of interesting and tasty dishes await.
We enjoy returning.
