Had a great dinner! Really enjoyed the byob as well
Saturday brunch - while the menu is very limited the chef has options that will suit almost anyone’s needs. Due to the shallow menu - all food is expertly prepared.
Surprised a nice place like this doesn't award points for dining there. Server was attentive, and knowledgeable. Would be nice if they got a wine license.
Always an interesting seasonal menu. Very attentive staff. Dining in the back courtyard was a treat on a lovely evening.
Fantastic food and the servers were friendly and enthusiastic. They really believe in the product that is being created by the husband and wife team that run the place - with good reason. We were told that they use locally sourced ingredients and a their creative menu varies based on what is available. The food was absolutely delicious. It's BYOB and they were able to decant our favorite wine for us. We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back.
This is my go to place for bringing other couples. Its upscale BYOB. The menu changes everyday. Its a gem
Last minute brunch. Absolutely delicious. Sweet pea flan was spectacular. Filling in mushroom omelette was yummy, but the eggs were flat and more crepe-like. Had to wait a very long time for oj to be fresh-squeezed, but worth the wait. Asked for home-fried potatoes to be well done, and request was ignored, but they cheerfully took them back and fried to my liking. Wait staff was very friendly if a bit inattentive. Kitchen was very slow given the fact that we were the only patrons in downstairs. There may have been a private party upstairs which was getting all the attention. That being said, we didn’t mind, as we were enjoying our mimosas.
We like liked the Atlantic Char.
The meal was very good, but thought it lacked creativity for the price point. Everything about Russet is very 'comforting' - warm decor, hearty food - but it's comforting in the way you want to feel when you have a nice dinner at your parents house. It lacked creativity and the fanfare that should accompany going out for a nice dinner. We didn't walk away feeling like the meal was worth the amount of money spent. Also, be aware that the menu is very sparse - I've never seen such few options offered on a menu. It's seasonal and reflects what's fresh and in-season, but even still it wasn't much fun looking at the menus because there's about 4 options to choose from.
Food and service were very good. Menu is somewhat limited and portions are small.
Pleasantly pleased with my party of 5's experience at Russet. A gem of a restaurant with unique, creative, and local ingredients featured. Every dish we ordered was full of flavor!! To be honest, I had to google what some of the listed ingredients were to understand what flavor combinations the dishes were before ordering, but I trusted that the chef knew what he was doing and boy, he sure did!! The lamb was melt in your mouth tender. The veal was divine. The char was perfectly cooked. The scallops were sensational. Our party also had the several first course meals and desserts and absolutely everything was fantastic. I truly enjoyed how the chef paired all the flavor combinations together with each component enhancing the overall dish. This made the whole dinner that much more special as it was dishes that you couldn't have anywhere else. Other positives was that the server was attentive and it is BYOB. Only down side was that it was a tad on the noisy side and I really had to raise my voice to speak to my 4 table mates. However, once several of the other tables left, it was quieter. I wouldn't let this deter you from going by any means because the food is worth it, but something to consider based on your party's needs. 10/10 recommend!
Excellent service, convenient to Kimmel, good food. Noisy, but bearable.
Russet is one of those neighborhood gems in Philadelphia, where the kitchen is excellent and you can bring your own wine to accompany Andrew's delicious cooking. Worth the trip, and a nice place for a date or an event where everyone appreciates good food done very well.
We loved Russet. Sat in the back room which was spacious, comfortable and relatively quiet. The food was amazing and I chose to take home leftovers so that I could save room for desserts--yep, plural. All four of us enjoyed the meal, hospitable service, and will be returning as well as recommending. Thanks, Russet Team - see you soon!
Food was awesome. Service was slow - taking the orders and bringing the check; however, the food arrived quickly from the kitchen. The dining room is tight and loud. But I would go back and see what the patio area is like in warmer weather.
what a nice byob surprise. food was creative and a pleasure.
We dine at Russet before theatre. The atmosphere is quiet and dignified. The servers are very accommodating and knowledgeable. I'm an excellent cook. There is nothing I have made that comes close to the items on their menu. The menu changes very often. The combination of ingredients is very imaginative. Last time, I had sea bass. It was wonderful. My guest had ravioli with beets and (?). She loved the dish. We didn't have dessert. I have, in the past. I can't say enough about the dessert menu. Coffee was wonderful and mellow. I am off dairy temporarily. For the first time in my life, I drank my coffee without dairy. It was wonderful!
Relaxed at-home atmosphere. We all had the mushroom goat cheese omelet with a lovely small lightly dressed salad on the plate. Sides were generous - the cheesy grits & bacon sides were amazing!
Delicious food attractively plated, friendly waitstaff, and a BYO. A winner!
What a wonderful experience. Our dinner was delicious and our waitress was friendly and just attentive enough. We had a time constraint because we had tickets to a show and our waitress was very mindful of that and made sure we got each course quickly yet without feeling rushed. We can't wait to go back!
Portions way too small!! Especially appetizers.
Bread delicious but servings very skimpy. Disappointed
Quaint, little place with great food and perfect service. The lamb was fabulous, braised, slow cooked and so tender you could break it a part with a fork. The carrot soup was wonderful--creamy and tasty. I would definitely go back, but next time, I'd bring a good bottle of Cabernet. My only complaint was that we ate at Russet on the night of the big snow storm and all the liquor stores were closed. No chance to buy any wine. It would have made the meal perfect.
Lovely experience. We love a BYOB. Great service. Interesting and inventive dishes. Fresh flavors. Recommend.
Anniversary dinner. Very quiet, perfect decor and outstanding dining experience. I felt as if I was in someone's fancy living room with a private chef. Hidden gem
The food was exceptionally well prepared. I will always go back. I've only been twice but the service was outstanding not just because they were cool and calm but they were thorough with the menu. Great place five bells ya
Great food, can tell everything's meticulously done from scratch and well thought out. Date night menu was awesome. Semifreddo dessert was excellent. Servuce was very good. Like it being BYOB.
Lovely farm to table dinner in a charming quaint old brownstone with delicious dessert too!
It was great food waiter kind of forgot us in the middle
Had a lovely meal here. My wife and I shared the halibut main plus several appetizers. Felt perhaps a bit pricey for a BYOB, but the food was excellent and the service first-rate.
Food & service was outstanding!
This food was truly outstanding, and our waiter was perfect. We had one vegetarian, one pescatarian, one gluten-free person, and one omnivore--and we were all delighted with our choices. It was wonderful to have a lovely, quiet place to talk and enjoy each other at a birthday celebration. We'll be back soon!
Dinner was pre theatre. Waitstaff very cognizant of the time. Never felt rushed. Food was very fresh and imaginative. Beautifully presented. Two fish dishes were wonderful. Fish was cooked perfectly. We shared a beet salad that was a yellow soufflé that tasted like beets. Sounds weird? Tasted wonderful. Very tender. We also shared a dessert. It was a cheesecake that was wonderful. Don’t forget that this is a BYOB. The courses were not small but a large eater could probably eat three courses without Shari g. I love this place.
Excellent snapper and halibut prepared perfectly. Service professional and seamless always like russet but this evening was the best in recent memory cant praise them enough
Food was very good but menu is limited and pricey for the portion size. Would recommend however i recommend looking at the menu beforehand bc it changes daily.
Russet has consistently maintained high quality, rustic and creative Italian and Italian-inspired dishes for as long as I have known them. They even seem to have improved a bit in their side dishes. The place is as loud as ever, though - at peak hours a conversation is pretty impossible. The staff are very friendly.. even to the point of a lot more interaction than I'm used to - but I'd much rather have that than the anger and frustration and rage that Philly is known for.
We had a great time. The food was delicious and the server was very welcoming. BYOB policy is great for keeping the price down. Looking forward to going again.
First time visit to this relatively small BYOB, local ingredient restaurant...close to the Academy of Music. Well worth it. Food was superb, service exceptional. A bit crowded with smallish tables, but the cuisine made up for it. I had the pork appetizer and the fresh bass, finishing with a homemade coffee ice cream dessert. Fairly priced for a higher end restaurant. Menu isn't extensive, but a lot of thought goes into the presentation and the taste. I'll be back with a bottle of wine next time.
