The food was exceptionally well prepared. I will always go back. I've only been twice but the service was outstanding not just because they were cool and calm but they were thorough with the menu. Great place five bells ya
Great food, can tell everything's meticulously done from scratch and well thought out. Date night menu was awesome. Semifreddo dessert was excellent. Servuce was very good. Like it being BYOB.
It was great food waiter kind of forgot us in the middle
Had a lovely meal here. My wife and I shared the halibut main plus several appetizers. Felt perhaps a bit pricey for a BYOB, but the food was excellent and the service first-rate.
Food & service was outstanding!
This food was truly outstanding, and our waiter was perfect. We had one vegetarian, one pescatarian, one gluten-free person, and one omnivore--and we were all delighted with our choices. It was wonderful to have a lovely, quiet place to talk and enjoy each other at a birthday celebration. We'll be back soon!
Dinner was pre theatre. Waitstaff very cognizant of the time. Never felt rushed. Food was very fresh and imaginative. Beautifully presented. Two fish dishes were wonderful. Fish was cooked perfectly. We shared a beet salad that was a yellow soufflé that tasted like beets. Sounds weird? Tasted wonderful. Very tender. We also shared a dessert. It was a cheesecake that was wonderful. Don’t forget that this is a BYOB. The courses were not small but a large eater could probably eat three courses without Shari g. I love this place.
Excellent snapper and halibut prepared perfectly. Service professional and seamless always like russet but this evening was the best in recent memory cant praise them enough
Food was very good but menu is limited and pricey for the portion size. Would recommend however i recommend looking at the menu beforehand bc it changes daily.
Russet has consistently maintained high quality, rustic and creative Italian and Italian-inspired dishes for as long as I have known them. They even seem to have improved a bit in their side dishes. The place is as loud as ever, though - at peak hours a conversation is pretty impossible. The staff are very friendly.. even to the point of a lot more interaction than I'm used to - but I'd much rather have that than the anger and frustration and rage that Philly is known for.
We had a great time. The food was delicious and the server was very welcoming. BYOB policy is great for keeping the price down. Looking forward to going again.
First time visit to this relatively small BYOB, local ingredient restaurant...close to the Academy of Music. Well worth it. Food was superb, service exceptional. A bit crowded with smallish tables, but the cuisine made up for it. I had the pork appetizer and the fresh bass, finishing with a homemade coffee ice cream dessert. Fairly priced for a higher end restaurant. Menu isn't extensive, but a lot of thought goes into the presentation and the taste. I'll be back with a bottle of wine next time.
Excellent food; tables much too close for comfort
Food was excellent, with some interesting presentations. Would highly recommend - great place before dinner or a concert.
Delicious dinner for all in your group of four. Small selection but inventive and wonderful dishes.
Great service even though busy...
Dinner was delicious and our servers were great.
Dining room was pleasantly crowded and staff was aware of our timing for the concert. Decided to make a reservation for our next concert on the spot.
Dined with friends at this cozy, farm-to-table American bistro. Excellent house-made pastas, seafood, chicken, and meats. Food is high quality, service was unobtrusive and helpful, and the place has a great vibe. Glad to have it in our neighborhood.
Outstanding farm-to-table BYOB.
Portion sizes are perfect. Our meal was delicious; we'll be back!
We drove from Lancaster, PA just to have Saturday brunch at Russett. It was our anniversary and we wanted a special place to celebrate. And Rissett was special indeed .... very cozy, quiet, atmospheric, fantastic service and wonderful, tasty, delicious food! Their BYOB policy also allowed us to bring along a favorite Pinot Noir, so our celebration was quite a success! We’ll definitely visit again, as well as recommend it to others.....
Great food! Scallops were delicious! Ravioli app was very tasty but small. Bread was just ok, nothing special.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The hostess was very inappropriately dressed, I was under the impression it was a fine dining establishment, not a night club. The server was there to turn and burn. He dropped the bread on the table without a word and turned to another table. It was good bread, I would have liked to know what kind it was. Overall I was hoping for more hospitality. The food was rustic and different. The sauces were the best part of each dish. My entrees first discriptor was Brussels sprouts, I found 2 leaves, no more.. very disappointed.
This is our "go to" restaurant whenever we are in town.
We always enjoy dinner at Russet.
Freshly prepared food. Interesting choices.
Our second time there and just as great as the first!
The atmosphere was perfect for a date night. The dining room was in the first floor of a converted brownstone and was lovely. The appetizers were very good. My husband had gnocchi and I had homemade spaghetti with chicken and mushrooms. Both were excellent and had great flavors. The apps were much better than the entrees. I had lamb chops and my husband had roast chicken which looked like fancy feast cat food. The lambs chops were cooked perfectly but the flavor was pretty plain. They came with some kind of potato cake which I did not like and mushy, flavorless brussel sprouts. It was more expensive than other BYOBs in the city as well.
It was a rainy day. Our timing was post brunch rush. Other than a loudly screaming child, all was really excellent! After telling is the brunch special cheddar scones were sold out, our server returned to say freshly-baked ones were just pulled from the oven! YUM! When I started with a salad, the server offered that I could switch out my now superfluous side-salad on my entree for potatoes or cheesy grits! YUM! All the right moves!
We just had one of the best meals we've ever had. We started with the cheese plate, with three local cheeses, all fantastic. Then we had gnocchi with a mushroom sauce and a salad next; the gnocchi were amazing and the salad was deliciously dressed. For entrees we had wild striped bass with jerusalem artichokes, and arctic char with some kind of greens, beets, and some citrus. Both were perfectly cooked and spectacular. Finally we had a little chocolate cake of some kind--it was excellent.
Ordered appetizers, entrees and desserts and everything was lukewarm and portions were too small for the price. Even seemed like a ripoff compared to New York pricing. Disappointed.
I loved the atmosphere. The food was creative and delicious. We will definitely be back.
Delightful find serving gourmet food. Set in a row house converted into a restaurant. Well worth returning.
In the past I’ve had a wonderful experiences at Russet, the atmosphere is usually perfect for an intimate date night. However on this evening the restaurant booked 3 large groups simultaneously and the noise levels were extremely uncomfortable in the small space.
Grilled rouget, winter greens, veal shoulder, coffee turtle sundae. All perfectly prepared and beautifully served. As always, a warm and wonderful experience.
Food was very good and very unusual (we had to have a glossary lesson before we could order). We sat in back room which was fine but not charming in any way. Waiter was very good but prices seemed high. BYOB helped a lot.
A delicious surprise as a 1st time at Russet's since they took over the space that used to be
Ernesto's years ago, a past favorite of mine. Russet will be at the top of my list of Center City restaurant choices pre/post- theater rather than the newer 'notable chef' additions that are noisy and have not so interesting menu choices. The stuffed Artic Char was a winner for me, fresh as can be from inside out and very tasty. My friend enjoyed her selection of 1st course apple and lettuce salad that I can attest to having sampled some, featuring a deliciously
tart sweet dressing. Her other 1st course choice calves liver, she enjoyed as a main course.
The service was pleasantly attentive from beginning to end. The small apple tart we shared
and good hot decaf coffee was a perfect end. It was nice to be so close to the Kimmel Center,
too, on a very cold night.
We had a lovely dinner at Russet. We particularly appreciated the fact that there are always vegetarian options. Although the restaurant was almost full, it was quiet and our courses arrived well spaced. We were served both still and sparkling water (gratis) and brought our own wine.
Service was efficient but not in our faces; food was lovely, unusual and so tasty. The room is beautiful, not too noisy, but not so quiet you can hear the conversation at the next table. Highly recommend.
This place never disappoints. Superb waitstaff, great food in a pleasant atmosphere. I really enjoy dinner here and I plan to return often
After a long absence overseas, I returned for a few recent visits and was delighted to see it still ranks as one of my favourite restaurants in Philadelphia. The daily-changing menu never fails to provide a wonderful selection and the ambiance is very comfortable.
Great food service and atmosphere
Excellent use of veggies, seasonal foods. Noise level tolerable. Don't forget to bring good wine with excellent pairing
