Russet was an awesome dining experience. Everything was excellent from the service, food, and atmosphere. Farm-to-table dining is becoming more popular and this restaurant is a perfect example of why. The food was inventive and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great food, very rich and buttery. It's a small space, but has a nice romantic ambiance. And the service is excellent.

Per usual, Russet provided us with an enjoyable atmosphere, kind and attentive service, and delicious food! Their restaurant menu was lovely, with ample option. Claire, our server, was pleasant and attentive- she gave us a generous serving of butter because we had said how much we like it! Great place, great meal, very happy, per usual.

Wonderful food in a low key setting. There were four of us for dinner tonight and we were very well taken care of. We tried most of the items on the menu, and each bite was delicious. Each of us had our favorites, but no one was disappointed with anything. We loved the fresh ingredients, the great combinations and the service. We will be back soon.

Menu is very limited. Even so, some dishes are excellent (the pastas); most others are very good. Only disappointment was the desserts, which were heavy-handed. Very nice ambience but the waiter was obnoxious. We were visiting Philly from out of town and friends we hadn't seen since the summer came to join us (also from out of town). We were chatting over the last of our coffee at 9:30pm, when the restaurant was emptying out, and the waiter came over and said, "do you have coats?" We had given no indication that we were ready to leave. Nevertheless, he went and got our coats and handed them out. Obviously he thought it was time to go! A very ungracious end to what had been a nice evening.

The food is always good here. It was our anniversary, so the staff was extra attentive.

Food was good but I really have no idea why there ratings are so high, me and my partner both got the 5 course tasting menu and were only impressed with one dish each. I have literally been to a dozen restaurants or more in Philadelphia that we’re much more impressive.. Would not recommend.

Surprisingly, everything fell flat. $95 tasting menu for New Year’s Eve. Okay, but bring it. They didnt! First course, okay. Second course, interesting. Third course wasn't even served warm. Couldn't see or taste the ingredients they described. Fourth course, sea bass. Mine was very good. My husband's and daughter's not fileted properly. Bones, bones, bones. Desert okay. Service rushed but staff lovely. Room was frigid! Bad experience all around and I have loved this spot on past visits.

We left Russet for good a few years ago. We thought we would never return but the New Year's menu looked good and their reviews got better. The three of us were so pleased having dinner in this small gem. We will be back.

It is impossible to imagine a visit to Philadelphia without first making dining reservations at Russet. Such skill, artistry, and imagination in the kitchen combined with the most personable, friendly, and warm service in the front of the house on each of so many Russet visits, we depart dreaming of our return.

The quality and preparation of the plates that came were not worth the price. The two meat dishes we had were two of the most underwhelming dishes we have ever had in a fine dining restaurant. The lamb belly dish seemed to be cooked too long and was tough to chew and was actual hard to eat. The veal loin as the main dish was even more disappointing. The loin was served with so much silver skin left on the meat that we were only able to eat about half of the plate. We do not know if this was served like this on purpose but for a dish that cost a little over $30 we were very disappointed. Just so this is not all bad the two pasta dishes we had were good.

I had goat- there was no meat on it- all bone. When I ordered pork belly, I should have realized it would be fatty- not that fatty- no meat. My hosts thought it was expensive and food was not plentiful and we are all foodies. The only good thing I could say about it was that the staff was lovely. I have lived across the street for 2 years, this was my first and last experience. So disappointing.

We dined here before a performance at the Kimmel Center. Our server was very conscious of our timeline and had us served and out the door in plenty of time! The new menu had some inspired and seasonal pairings. We tried the salad with beets and goat cheese for our first course...it was fresh, delicious and lightly dressed! The sea bass for the second course was beautifully plated, an orange slice and a grapefruit slice adorned the plate, butternut squash slices were grilled and served with cooked greens beneath the fish. The fish had a crispy and flavorful skin with a moist interior. Bring your own wine to complement your meal! The pear tart was an unusual combination of pear, blue cheese and cream, and it didn't disappoint. Great service, pleasant ambiance and wonderful fare will find us returning to this gem before our next visit to the Avenue of the Arts!

Large table of screaming patrons made it hard to have normal conversation and enjoy. The waiter was oppressive, asking 5 times if we liked our dinner, then got our dessert order wrong. Strange experience from somewhere usually much better than that.

We were a party of six with a 6:30 reservation. We did not manage to get out of Russet until 9:30. The meal moved very slow and it was necessary to ask the staff twice to move the meal along. Food was good, but not great.

We went for a Sunday night supper ($38 fixed price menu) and it was terrific! The gnocchi and accompanying sauce were delicious and alone were worth going back for. The char was again accompanied by a terrific but different sauce that left me talking to myself. I would go back and order additional dinners (crab cakes??) if I could be guaranteed that sauce. It was mustard based but mild enough that you could taste every component of the dish without any single component being overwhelmed.

Second trip to Russet. Love the space and waitstaff was courteous. My meal (lamb) was delicious, but on the cold side. Seems like it was sitting for a while and the restaurant was not busy. Also, I was given a couple of pieces that were mostly gristle and fat. Would go back, but I would return the plate if it came out this way again.

Deliciously inventive seasonal appetizers and entrees featuring fresh local ingredients served in the quiet elegance of the formal parlor of a brownstone on Spruce St. near the Kimmel Center. - My broiled scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the accompanying roasted cauliflower was scrumptious. We let our server know upon arrival that we were dining early before attending a concert at Rittenhouse Square and were delighted that we had time for two courses plus coffee & dessert & pleasant conversation without feeling rushed due to excellent timing by the kitchen & servers!

Portions are a tad on the small size. My partner ordered the stripped bass which was OK, except it was very under-cooked and had to go back to the kitchen. We were both surprised that the piece, as small as it was, was not replaced but rather just reheated. Then we ordered coffee, were advised that "we are making a new pot and it will just be a few minutes" and 15 minutes later after our desert course was over the coffee finally showed. The young lady who took our coats was quite pleasant and efficient, but our server was hard to find when needed. When complaining about the under-cooked meal we had to snag a waitress not from our table. I appreciate that the restaurant was busy, but it is not a large venue and we should have had better service. Convenient to the Kimmel Center and a BYOB, but better value for the dining buck would have been appreciated.
