Russell's Steaks, Chops, and More Ratings and Reviews
My wife & I went for Valentines day, the food was amazing by far the best steak I've ever had! The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was top notch, our server's name was Allen & he was great. Very helpful, accommodating, charming and funny. We can't wait to go again & we most certainly will be asking for Allen again!
Outstanding service with a smile. Always there when you would want them to be to serve water or pick up dishes or see if we needed anything. Timely service. Very respectful and helpful when asking choices or suggestions. Food was perfectly timed with appetizers to salads to the main meal and desserts. Food was cooked to perfection. Tables placed so you could talk comfortably with your dinner partner. Cleanliness is impeccable.
Went to Russell's for valentines day dinner the day after valentines day. We were greeted by Russell and escorted to our table. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter and took our drink order right away. We were then given some delicious breads along with a variety of accompaniments. We then ordered our appetizers which included a cypress salad and the escargot. Both were delicious. We then got our entrees which included the filet and also the pistachio crusted rack of lamb. The filet was done perfectly, but the rack of lamb wasn't quite medium rare. With this being said, both entrees were delicious. We finished the meal off with an apple crisp and the Belgium chocolate cake. These also were outstanding. This is a restaurant that we will definitely visit again.
The food, service and atmosphere was certainly a very nice way to spend the evening. Thank you to Russell and his staff for making this a very enjoyable evening.

What a treat! This place is top notch and treats you like royalty. The atmosphere is great and it's beautifully decorated from the gorgeous fish tank in the lobby, the lobby bar, to the cute raised booths.
My husband and I came here for valentine's day (couple days before to avoid the rush) and we did make a reservation a couple weeks in advance. We were greeted at reception by Russell Salvatore himself, and because we were just a little early, were told it would just be a couple minutes before we could be seated. However, we ended up being seated right at our reservation time and were put in a cute booth area that was sort of secluded and romantic. Our server Tim was just lovely, and helped us with any questions we had and made suggestions for us if we weren't sure.
We decided to start with the sausage bread, which we've been told is a must get, as well as the Mussels ala Russell. Both were delicious and the mussel broth was so tasty, we soaked as much of it up as we could with the bread!
For dinner we ordered the dinner for two, which comes with a soup or salad each, an entrée for each from the choices, and dessert. I started with the seafood bisque, which there was a slight upcharge, but worth it, and my husband the salad.
I ordered the lamb chop for dinner, and my husband had the larger filet, which also was an upcharge, but again, worth it. The lamb had a pistachio crust and was delicious and the filet melted in your mouth.
By the time we finished though, we were too full for dessert, but Tim was sweet enough to wrap them to go, a cheesecake and chocolate cake.
Even though it's on the pricier side, they make up for it in ambiance, service and food. We will definitely be back, once we've recovered from eating all the food from this visit!
The service is second to none - be prepared to be pampered. The food was delicious, and with the dinner for two menu was a fantastic value. The wine list is organized by style instead of varietal making it easy to choose a great bottle. Great coffee and dessert included - excellent restaurant for any special occasion
I’ve been to Russell’s 5 times now and can’t seem to stray away from the filet Oscar. It is great every time I get it. The service is unbeatable, it is like a well oiled machine. The only regret I have was ordering the brownie sundae. The dessert came with once small cold hard brownie under once small scoop of ice cream. I almost feel as if that is an item they shouldn’t offer. Other than that everything was cooked to perfection. Also the sausage bread was amazing.
Group of 4 friends were dining. First of all out waiter Allen, was the best ever. Very efficient, had a great sense of humor, was very upbeat. All four of us were very pleased with our meals. Three had steak options and one had chicken. Salads and soups were also very good.
For the last 4 years, at least 3 time a year we drive from Burlington Ontario to spend the night at the hotel just so we can enjoy the most delicious dinner. It is clear to us why this restaurant is rated the 44th best steak house in all of the United Sates. The meal has never been disappointing, the service is superb and the price that is included in the overnight hotel special is worth even if you just live around the corner.
This was my first time visiting Russell's. I had heard all the hype about it being a great restaurant so I chose to take my wife there for her birthday. I am a fan of both Morton's & Ruth's Chris which Russell's is often compared to so I had high expectations and was looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately, I got the opposite. My steak was cold! I ordered the 10 oz filet, took a bite of it within ten seconds of the waiter bringing it to my table, and was shocked to discover it was cold. And when I say cold I don't mean it wasn't hot/fresh off the grill, it was literally cold on the inside as if it just came out of the freezer. After taking my first bite I then cut my steak down the middle only to find out that the inside was freezing cold. I don't know if it came out of the freezer and just didn't get cooked long enough or what but it was freezing cold. I hate sending food back and always try to just suck it up but I could not do that in this case. If you're going to spend $140+ for two people to have dinner it goes without saying that you expect it to be prepared properly. Our waiter apologized and took the steak back into the kitchen but when he brought it back out it was extremely charred/well done. At that point I just ate it and cut my losses. The last thing I wanted to do was get upset or cause any kind of scene on my wife's birthday. To add insult to injury they didn't even offer to take anything off the bill. I paid full price for everything - not even a free drink! Extremely disappointing to say the least. My wife and I will not be going back to Russell's after this experience. There are way too many restaurants in Buffalo with great food and certainly with much more reasonable prices.
