Russell's Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I went there for their 10oz NEW YORK STRIP with grilled portabella demi glace that was on the website menu--except it wasn't available at 5:30pm on Saturday. (?).
The waitress was very busy--being the only one on the floor, it seemed.
She was not accurate about her wine, but overall was very pleasant. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts with blue berries. Memorable, and I don't like Brussel spouts normally.
Another great visit to Russell's Bistro. We admit that we continue to frequent this establishment as much for the quality and value of the food as we go to have a quiet conversation while enjoying the outdoor patio or inside table. The owner strives to maintain a quality environment with choice ingredients and friendly staff who make you feel like you are home. Perfect!
We were seated outside, which normally wouldn't have been an issue except we had out 11 no old son and there was an exhaust vent from inside blowing right on our table. The server move the table about 5 inches. I would have preferred inside or another table altogether. But other than that the food was geeat.
My husband and I were disappointed in our date night here. We'd been once before for Sunday brunch and had a great experience. This time we felt that the food was bland and just so-so (I had the pasta of the day and he had the tiger shrimp) and we were agitated by flies throughout the meal. The condition of the restaurant is also a turnoff - I pointed out 2 broken chairs to our server (as we left we saw there were more), the paint needs to be touched up all around and it seemed like it was in need of a very deep clean (walls, window sills, floor). The staff were friendly and very attentive - that was the good part! We may be up to trying brunch there again in the future since we had such a great experience before, but we're in no rush to get back.
This was our first visit to Russell's, but won't be the last. All four of us in the part thought the food was very good, decent to large portions and moderately priced. We were surprised it was not crowded on a Friday evening, but I'll bet they draw more of a lunch crowd. People are missing out because Russell's is clearly a good place to dine in the evening.
This was our first time at Russell's Bistro, and we loved it! We went with our 7 year-old son. The service was great, Kent took good care of us. We had a nice wine for a good price. My salmon was outstanding, and my wife's filet was flavorful and perfectly prepared. With all of the choices available in Austin, this was a real gem!
We are regulars at Russell's Bistro, and look forward every weekend to having bunch there. The menu is extensive, the food is consistently excellent, and the service is outstanding and professional (attentive enough, but not hovering). Russell's serves the best eggs Benedict in Austin. My wife loves the sweet potato hash. One our top two or three restaurants!
Four of us had brunch out on the covered patio. I especially appreciated the fact that when I requested a "quiet table for four old people" the wait staff provided just that. While you can't do much, we were set at a table that fit our requirements. It was much appreciated.
I really love the weekend brunch at Russell's. And the fact that I can make a reservation. I tried a new menu offering - the asparagus Eggs Benedict. It was delish. The service is always great. The kitchen appeared to get backed up because the restaurant was slammed, but we didn't really care about that - just gave us more time to talk. We were at one of the street side tables which was in the sun and there weren't any other tables available so it was a bit uncomfortable but not too bad.
Delighted to discover that Russell's Bistro has reservations available through Open Table. One of my absolute favorite weekend brunch spots. Great food. Really good, attentive service. The food is excellent - perfectly cooked eggs.
Went out for a late dinner and was pleasantly surprised by this comfortable, casual spot. The food was quite good. I would have appreciated a more interesting menu, but we all enjoyed what we ordered. The wait staff was pretty good. I was a bit surprised when they brought us the check prior to asking if we wanted dessert, but it was the end of the evening.
