Three of us had the Cobia with butternut squash risotto, which was very good. One had the Shrimp & Tortellini, which was not good. We found the restaurant to be noisy and the table in the booth to be small for all that was on the table. Loved the lit menus.
Appetizers: ceviche, firecracker shrimp, spicy blue crab soup-all delicious
Dinner: swordfish, salmon, strip-all delicious again
Wine: delicious bottle of Sancerre
Dessert: mango ice cream, candied walnut, rum soaked sponge cake-delicious
Tab a bit pricy, but all in all we had a great meal
The food is good, nothing fabulous, just ok. The service has average. The servers have a helper, so you would have expected better, brought us plates for bread, no bread, then came and removed the plates . It’s overpriced and the area does have some truly great , like Palm Court, so wouldn’t go back. The aquariums are lovely.
The host and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. The waiter didn’t really know what the foods were which was amusing. My date had swordfish and the pairing of the apples and sweet coconut rice with other sweet ingredients was just ok. The grouper was better. Light and flakey fish cooked perfectly. Loved the fish tank and the ambiance was a bit crazy with some folks dressed up and others in shorts with some enthusiastic children in tow. Fun people watching.
The food is average tourist cuisine. The service is a disgrace. It was a major effort to get our water glass refilled. I finally had to see a manager to get more water. The restaurant is over staffed and little attention is paid to guests dining. Servers are continuously walking around but do not make eye contact with guests. No one asked how our meal was. I don’t think they want to know. This has great potential but lacks execution of good customer service. I don’t believe repeat customers is a focus.
This was our second time here, and it was as amazing as the first time. We drive close to 2 hours to get here, through horrible traffic as well, and it’s worth every minute. This time we spent an hour before our dinner at the outdoor bar where the atmosphere is light and people are friendly. Our reservation was in a romantic setting, yet comforting with the large fish tank in the backdrop. I was finally able to eat lobster tail from my home state of Maine... first time ever since moving to Florida 3 years ago. Our server, Remington, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the fish and very willing to answer all of our questions. At the end of the meal, I could hardly walk to my car but I view it as a win on all fronts. Thanks again, Rumfish. We’ll be back.
The place is beautiful the food fantastic. We had oysters from Massachusetts and large stone crabs. Their mai Thai is strong as it should be. The staff was attentive caring and courteous. The tanks were enchanting they had a band outside that was very good and the desert was also spot on. My only complaint was that it was loud and the kids -but not my kids - were super excited to be there and see the beautiful marine life. Wish our kids had been there but it was an adults only getaway for my husbands 50th birthday. By no means should it scare you away it was just fantastic
We went for dinner on a Friday night and ordered the charbroiled oysters for an appetizer (half dozen). The oysters were the smallest I’ve ever seen! My husband and I split them and if crackers were served with it I’d be able to fit all 6 on 1 cracker. The entree I ordered was the pan seared grouper piccata, it was bland and boring. Very disappointing. My husband and son ordered the hoisin glazed salmon my son liked it but my husband said his was mediocre. Our servers name was Remington and he was great. We didn’t complain to him because it wasn’t a mistake, I think that’s just how the food is. He was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is beautiful. The aquarium is breathtaking and so relaxing. It would have been a great experience if the food was better.
We visited for my son's birthday and were pleasantly surprised to be seating front row by the aquarium. The kids were given iPads to help them identify the fish in the tank, which they loved. The food was DELICIOUS! Very fresh food. Portions were large. Wait staff were great.
I had been to rumfish when it first opened and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, told everyone about it. This was my first trip back in over a year and was so disappointed...everything tasted like it had been plated earlier in the day and just microwaved and brought to the table. Nothing fresh about it, just run of the mill tourist trap fare that was bland and seemed lean cuisine fake. The service was scripted and while pleasant, obviously told to sell the highest priced entrees and bottles of wine. The atmosphere with the fish tank is cool, and the bar is awesome with live music outside. Not someplace Id rush back to, but then again, I'm a local girl and not on vacation.
I ordered the Grouper Piccata which I imagined would have a lemon/wine piccata sauce on it, but not so. The fish rested on a bed of way-too-salty risotto and sautéed spinach which was quite good. The fish was also good. But the tiny bit of sauce on the plate did not taste like anything, certainly not lemony..... Another member in our party had the New York Strip "rare" which was not rare, and also very tough. Two others ordered a Grouper/Shrimp "prix fixe" dinner that was so-so. The wedge salad was incredible and the desserts were incredible!! Also enjoy the fish tank.
Don't bother going if you don't have a reservation and that still means nothing. We were told by our Uber drive to try this place since it has a large eel, fish tank and was the show Tanked. Our drive also told us you have to have a reservation.
So we made a reservation for 9pm, got the the restaurant that has a gift shop in front and that's when I should have known. I felt like I was at Rainforest cafe (WTF) we got there a little earlier (8:45p), we were told are table was being cleaned off. So we walked around to see the fish tanks and then sat down to wait. We saw groups come and get seated (maybe they had reservations too) so at 9:06pm we asked if are table was ready. I looked inside and the place had easily 7 empty tables. They said are table was still being cleaned. Are you kidding me???? We finally got a text message that our table was ready at 9:15pm.
The food wasn't great at all and to pay over $200 when we had better meals across the street or smaller places. Don't bother going here. Everything tasted like sugar and the fish was rubber.
To top off the evening they started cleaning around 9:45pm while we were eating. Sweeping and pulling out tables while families are eating is so gross. We didn't even finishing our desserts instead we paid and left.
Save yourself money and got see the fish tanks for free.
Go for the aquarium view - not the food. I think most is prepared & waiting. Our swordfish was delivered to our table in less than 5 minutes and was not hot. I saw lots of food conspicuously delivered right after patrons placed their orders. Waitress almost intrusive at the start - as if she wanted to hurry up & turn the table even though she relayed to us that it was slow. Shortly thereafter, she got a table of around 15-20 people and we had to get another waiter to cash us out. Too many other good restaurants in the area to waste your time & money here. Glad you got on animal planets "tanked"...seems appropriate to me. We won't be back.
I made the reservations online and asked for a table by the fish tank, which is not guaranteed. Not only did we get a table by the tank but they gave us the table right in the middle of the tank. It was so awesome. The food is outstanding, pricey, but worth it. Amy, our server was very attentive and helpful with our meal selection. Nicholas was also very helpful. He made sure we always had whatever we needed. Thank you so much for a VERY pleasant meal. Next time we are at Tradewinds we will eat there again
