Ruinas Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
Just seems like a ‘dated hotel restaurant ‘ at the Hyatt Regency, apparently this once was a top-notch place , expensive and we get the cheapest crappy wine glassware to drink our ‘fine wine ‘ the bass fish was just awful , both of us described it as that ‘fishy taste ‘ you should not have !!!
We were there to celebrate our anniversary and both the host and waiter kept asking if it was our anniversary or honeymoon. The service was ok but nothing special and the food was rather bland. The best part of the evening was the ambience of the outdoor dining.
You can have a much nicer Sunday Brunch for the same money on Aruba. Very disappointed . Nothing special , just another buffet. We will not go back for this over-priced buffet ! Been coming to the island since 1995, and we always try something new and different each year.
The scenery was nice but the food was not the best. We tried the lobster/ filet combo but the filet was covered in an over seasoned sauce and was not tender. The food did not live up to the atmosphere they were trying for. If you are looking for a good date/anniversary restaurant, I would recommend another place.
Went for Sunday brunch and service people just kept walking by as the plates piled up on our table. It took asking 3 times before I could get a cup of coffee . When a large group came in and sat at the table next to us . All of the wait staff focused on them. Was disappointed
Beautiful outdoor seating - large umbrellas provide shade from the hot sun. Excellent food and wide variety. Buffet service but staff was very attentive to beverage and other needs. Billing for Sunday brunch was a little confusing. Two separate charges on hotel bill - one for regular breakfast and second charge for brunch option.
If you would like to pay 60 dollars for a buffet of bacon and eggs this buffet is the one for you!
Personally, id rather not spend 60 per person on breakfast. If the buffet was $30 that'd be a different story. 60 dollars USD for breakfast.... I mean come on. Get real Hyatt.
I came here in 2006 and 2011. Both times the food tasted great and the service was top notch. Fast forward 11 yrs later, the service is still top notch, but the food not so much for the price. $119 for 2 ppl sure isn't a bargain, but I expected the food, especially the seafood to be a lot fresher. The best thing there was the mushroom flank steak and the omelette station. The oysters and shrimp looked like it's been sitting for a while. I didn't want to chance a stomach ache so I skipped the oysters oh well, I won't be back, for the bunch anyway.
We have made the brunch at the Hyatt's Ruinas del Mar a part of our vacation to Aruba for a number of years. There are many other brunches on the island, and we have thought about trying something different, but the food, service and ambiance of this brunch always brought us back.
In April, 2017 we brought guests with us to the brunch and they were probably tired of hearing us rave about it for the days prior to our reservation. To our dismay, the experience was not what we had described. The desserts station had been just beautiful in years past with so many choices and so much variety. In fact, I remember the display that used to hold the dessert selections. Unfortunately, it has been removed. But this was not the only disappointment, the oysters that I tried had an old, stale taste and texture. It was all that I cold do not to spit it out at the table. I normally don't eat raw oysters, except from sources that I can trust. But past experiences at Ruinas del Mar led me to believe that the oysters would be fresh. Not so! Additionally, the ham and turkey at the carving station were very dry (roast beef was fine).
Had it not been for the marvelously attentive service, the overall experience would have been a disaster. But our servers could not have been better. They cleared plates and filled cups and glasses without delay.
Unfortunately, we will try one or two of those other brunches during our next trip to Aruba.
Worst meal we had in Aruba. Overpriced. Two of the 3 meals were sent back and third could have easily been sent back. Cold overcooked steak, lobster tail that was rubber and second stake that was barely cooked but was asked for for med well. Waitress was overwhelmed. Another table beside us did not send their meals back but both had steaks that they did not eat.
