Rudy's Hideaway Ratings and Reviews
What was Excellent...the Service and Crab. What was not...the Filet had no flavor and the price of a kids milk ($5). How can a restaurant charge $5 for a small milk when their entire kids meal (cheeseburger and fries) which includes milk or soda was $9...Just seems wrong. Didn't complain because our service was outstanding...and I assume the cost was not a mistake by our waitress.
Had a fabulous evening..the Server saw that we were on a date and did his best to leave us be. He did finally have to encourage us to pick up the menu and order so he could get home at a reasonable hour, lol. Food was outstanding , especially the lobster bisque. Portions were generous. My only criticism would be the price of their steaks... but I’m sure they’re delicious.
My husband and I have been going to Rudy's Hideaway since we started dating in 1986. It's my husband's favorite place to go have dinner to celebrate his birthday (January). This past weekend we invited friends to join us who have only driven by Rudy's but never been inside and they were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance, service and how great the food (Lobster, Prime Rib and Crab Stuffed Mushrooms) is will definitely keep us visiting every January. Rudy's Hideaway has NEVER disappointed us in the last 32 years!
We used to dine at Rudy's on a regular basis the past ten years. The past two have been disappointing, most likely we would search for another local restaurant as the quality of the food has been degrading. The wife and I both ordered the New York Steak and they were bland. I NEVER use steak sauce but I did on my last visit.
It's too bad as this used to be our anniversary spot for years. For the prices you pay you should get a better tasting steak than a local chain steak house.
One of the few remaining Chowder House venues in the region. Warm and
clubby, inviting friendly place where after 1 visit you are known to the
For me the star of the show are the Maine lobsters. Thursdays hold a 1lb
whole steamed lobster with a side for $20. I am from east coast and
these are sweet, young juicy lobsters as good as anywhere. We generally
split a house salad and share our sides baked potato, green beans etc.
All very fresh, friendly service. The rest of the menu I have tasted and
is fine, perhaps the scampi could use a tweaking and an offer of side
Easy to get a reservation, date night for me and my husband. Usually eat there for lunch. Staff was very polite and professional. Best clam chowder ever! Food portions were very good. Husband's prime rib was good to his prepared to his liking. Will definitely reccomened to others.
I have known Rudy's for 50 years but has not been there for many years. My loss! It was fun, the food was great and the waiter was fantastic. We went there on Christmas Day and it was very busy but they seated us within a few minutes of our reservation. james Gentry
We dine at Rudy's Hideaway several times a year, but reserve it for special occasions. They are one of the few fine dining restaurants open on Christmas Day and we have made this part of our Christmas celebration for the past 3 years. Although the menu is limited on Christmas, the prime rib is to die for! Can't wait for our next visit!
My husband, son, and I chose Rudy's Hideaway for our annual Christmas dinner and were highly satisfied with the food, service, and ambience of the restaurant. The Fillet Felix was cooked to perfection; the prime rib was thick, tender, and juicy; and the traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings was especially enjoyed. We also savored the Boston clam chowder, which had bacon bits on top and a smoky flavor. Our friendly server Mary was very attentive to detail and made sure that our needs were met even before we asked. We highly recommend Rudy's Hideaway and will definitely come back.
Have been to Rudy’s often but this was by far the best Christmas turkey dinner that we have had there. Good food, good portions, great service.
Usually you will like one item but not another.
There was nothing that any of us did not like.
Would recommend them highly.
I have not lived in Sacramento area for years but every chance I get I love to eat at Rudy's. It is the only restaurant where I order prime rib. Every time I order prime rib it is exactly "right on" in taste, tenderness, and cooked how I ordered. It is a treat everytime.
The service on Christmas Eve was outstanding. The meal was perfect. The waitress heard everything we would like and she provided each item (extra butter, extra sour cream). Her service was complemented with a wonderful meal (salad, lobster and baked potato). There was nothing left when she picked up the plates. I think the other restaurant guests next to us heard both me and my daughter saying "yum", "yum" over and over again. Thank you!!
