Rudy's Hideaway Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten here before and had a good experience, but tonight’s experience was different. I ordered Prime Rib and it was full of gristle. I could only eat about half after spending much time carving out the gristle. After discussing with waitress and her seeing the remains for herself, she offered to remove the charge, I explained that wasn’t my goal but I did appreciate it. This meat should have never left the kitchen in the condition it was in and any decent chef would have noticed and not served it. Also I requested a balsamic dressing on my salad which I have had before, she said they didn’t serve Balsamic dressing, at the end of the meal she admitted they just ran out. Lastly one of our wines was overcharged $3 on the bill above the menu price. Far too many problems for me to return any time soon. Unfortunate, since I had a very good meal here just 3 months prior.
In the past I have heard very good things about this place. This was not a good experience. My husband and I came here to celebrate out belated Valentine's day date. My food came with hair in it and I was not compensated for the meal. We have 4 kids and almost never get to spend a night out together and it was very difficult to keep a smile on when my hubby was letting his food go cold to wait for me. Very dissatisfied and we will not be going there in the future
We have been to Rudys several times....sometimes with large parties and sometimes with just couples....was unimpressed in the past but decided to give them another shot..We won't be going back. Wine selection poor...standard restaurant stuff...maitre d actually asked me if I had a reservation when I just checked in with him 15 minutes earlier . We all get busy but his tone was really bad as if he was annoyed I was Talking with him. My GF became ill after the meal...greasy food...service was ok...but they certainly don't make you feel they care if you are pleased withe the experience...when your paying these kind of prices you hope they actually care you had a good experience..!!!!
Loved the atmosphere! The service was timely, and not over done. The noise level was low, and we were easily able to enjoy our conversation. The food came quickly and was hot, and delicious! We enjoyed the Lobster tail and Lobster ravioli, which was amazing! The bread was warm, soft, and yummy! We will definitely go over and over; looking forward to trying many food options!
I made a reservation for the second year in a row on Valentine’s Day. This year was quite different than last year. When I arrived at my reservation time my wife and I were seated right away. I was glad to not have the 35 minute wait like last year. They clearly over booked the year before. The food and service was amazing.
Although it is near our house, this was our first(and last) visit to Rudy's. The exterior resembles a 1950's biker bar, but it does have a large well lit parking lot. Inside we felt like we had jumped back into the 1960's as far as the ambiance is concerned. More importantly, we were not enthralled with the food. My wife had boo-ya-base(I don't know how to spell it) and found that the shrimp were dry and tasteless and the clams were canned while the scallops were quite delightful. I had the shrimp scampi and was disappointed when I received several over-cooked, medium sized shrimp floating in a boat filled with yellow water(probably the worst scampi I've ever had). To add insult to injury, prices were quite high for a restaurant of this caliber. In fairness, we were very pleased with the service. They did bring a complimentary chocolate mousse with a candle, but this was not a good choice for my wife's birthday dinner.
My first time at Rudys, we made a reservation for our birthdays. Very nice service. Food was a long time coming once ordered. My lobster was undercooked, I've had lobster many times and this was not fully cooked. I would try this restaurant again, give another chance.
We went for the weekly special of Cioppino on Wednesday nights. Was a little disappointed. The option for sides was pretty limited. We got there in time for Happy Hour but were told it was only available in the bar. The food was okay, but not outstanding. The wait staff seemed extremely busy and took some of our food away so quickly that we didn't have time to stop them to say we were not through eating.
Overall service and food were good and for the first half of our dinner, the atmosphere was enjoyable but then a huge party of about 25 plus people were seated two tables behind us and the noise level was so loud that I couldn't converse with my dad who was sitting right beside me. Sort of ruined our visit since he drove in from out of town to celebrate his birthday dinner with my family. Prices on the meals was a little steep but would consider returning.
Our server Amanda made this eating experience very comfortable. She is a very pleasant person. We were happy to sit in her area and it made the meal even more enjoyable. What a major difference from our server two years ago. We stop going to Rudy's and decided to give it another try since the food is so good. Thanks Amanda.
Had a lovely dinner with friends. Service was good. Specifically picked Friday because their lobster bisque only available on Friday and Saturday is the best in town! The only reason for less than 5 rating is that because we had a reservation when one of my friends arrived early they would not seat her or serve her a drink until the rest of us got there.
I have eaten at Rudy's twice before Jan 17, 2018 and the food was good at both visits; not great. I understand that it is difficult to tell if lobster is done but it is very unpleasant to get a mouth full of squish. My husband was finished with his dinner by the time I was served my second tail and it was a bit rubbery. Bad lobster night I suppose and if I had time I would have just switched to prime rib but I didn't. The baked potato seemed old. It was brown and chunky. A fresh baked potato is fluffy and off white. In summary, it was an hour drive for an expensive and bad meal on a wedding anniversary.
Lobster was a bit tough but not bad. Service started out really slow. Our table was a bit drafty near a back door and restrooms. I found it to be a bit pricey for the meal but it was enjoyable. Soup, salad, chicken and veggies good. It was a 60th birthday (which I noted on our reservation) but unlike the table next to us (getting the birthday song) we got a mousse brought over. No song like the others. Hated our table location.
What was Excellent...the Service and Crab. What was not...the Filet had no flavor and the price of a kids milk ($5). How can a restaurant charge $5 for a small milk when their entire kids meal (cheeseburger and fries) which includes milk or soda was $9...Just seems wrong. Didn't complain because our service was outstanding...and I assume the cost was not a mistake by our waitress.
