Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our first time to eat at Rudy & Paco. The red snapper was excellent. The empanada’s were great. The fried plantains were very much to my liking.
I found Paco the owner to be very friendly and genuine.
The Restaurant is a definite must and I highly recommend it.
I found out about this restaurant from a Top 100 list, and I am so glad I did. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious and the service was perfect. My only regret is that I couldn't have gone back the next night to try the items I wasn't able to try during my visit. I happened to be in Galveston for business, but Rudy & Paco is definitely worth another trip to the island!
I was meeting up with a friend of mine in her area, we hadn't seen each other in some time and I wanted an upscale restaurant, so she picked Rudy & Paco's.
In as much as we had a reservation, we still had to wait a good 30 minutes before being seated, but the hostess did a great job keeping us posted and I understand completely that some parties don't leave when they are expected and/or calculated to.
The server was attentive, she knew what to do and when to do it (a pet peeve of mine).
The food was incredible, the presentation was very nice and it was all very fresh tasting.
If I am in Galveston again and in need of a good meal, I'll definitely consider this restaurant again.
When you view the exterior of the restaurant, it doesn’t look like much. But once you open the door and enter, you will be amazed! It is a beautiful restaurant filled with people enjoying a fine meal. I was very impressed with the wait staff as they were very nice, and knew the menu well. They kept the water filled and the tables clean throughout the meal. The food was SPECTACULAR! The presentation and taste of every course was spot on, and the amount of food served was perfect! We were first served fried plantains with two sauces, followed by freshly baked bread with whipped butter that was soooo good! For our appetizer, we ordered a crab cake to share that was absolutely devine! They were very generous with the amount of crab in it. I’ve had crab cakes with much less crab, but you don’t have to worry about running into that problem here. It was amazing! My wife and I both had fish dishes that were both equally impressive. My wife had plantain crusted red snapper and I had the sea bass with shrimp. Both entrees were equally impressive as far as presentation and flavor go. We were both rather full by the end of our meal and we had to take our leftovers to go. The food was so good that it never crossed our minds to leave the leftovers at the restaurant! Afterwards, we were asked if we wanted dessert. Unfortunately, there was no way we could fit it. Since we were celebrating my wife’s birthday, the did present her with a small birthday cake with a candle. While it wasn’t the best dessert ever, it was free and was very generous of them to give to my wife for her special day. I was very pleased with the fact that the owner was there the entire time, and he even sang happy birthday with the wait staff. He was very nice and welcoming, and we really appreciated that. My wife and I were very impressed with our experience at this restaurant. The next time we come to Galveston we will definitely be dining here again. You MUST give this place a try if you’re ever in town!
My wife and I have been eating at Rudy & Pacos for 15 years, it always has great food, specials, and the service is outstanding. The cocktails are great, and the wine list is excellent.
I guarantee you will like it. One of my all-time favorite restaurants in the World.
Right here in Galveston, Texas
We had a wonderful meal at this excellent restaurant. Waitress was not as attentive as we would have preferred. The food here is supurb; my date and I are both culinary hobbiests who truly enjoy well prepared food with excellent sauces. Rudy & Paco did not disappoint
We celebrated our anniversary at Rudy & Paco's - a good place for a special occasion. The crab cake appetizer was excellent - pure crab with a tasty brown butter sauce - enough for a meal. My grilled snapper was a little overcooked (mushy), but my husband thought his was fine. Great sides - Brussel sprouts & scalloped potatoes. As always, the service was excellent!
Best experience in a really long time compared to Houston area over fluffed restuarants. The owners personal touch on almost every table’s dinner service and the visual flair, wonderful taste of my crab cake (ordered as entry) and the best calamari ever makes this restaurant stand above many others. They may squeeze you in ala NYC, it’s all worth it!
Fantastic food and great wine list with some of the lowest prices for some of the best wine I've ever seen at a fine dining establishment. The service, quality of food and wine list rivals any of the finest restaurants in Houston. Definitely worth the drive from Kingwood.
The seafood at Rudy and Tacos is notably fresh and beautifully prepared. Some of the dishes incorporate Nicaraguan recipes which provides interest flavors. We had three types of fish, all were excellent. The starter of empanadas (different stuffings of beef, chicken and shrimp) was delicious, as was the bread pudding that we shared. There was also a very fairly priced white wine by the bottle and service was accomplished and unobtrusive. FYI, there is not valet parking but when we visited street parking was widely available.
