Really enjoyed this place, great jazz piano player in the background. very cozy and comfortable feel to the atmosphere. The Food was great, my steak was perfectly cooked as I asked for. great presentation of the meal our plates. Flavorful and enjoyable all the way through. The people were nice and friendly and provided really good service.
Great live piano, service perfect, food delicious.
Excellent experience! Good food , great service! Took my 16 year old grandson so we could enjoy good food and conversation and we were completely happy!
We love Rudi's...always great!!! The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. food is excellent and most important to us it has healthy choices. All good!!!!
As always we had a lovely brunch on Sunday and love the live jazz music playing in the background.
The only thing I would change is their lack of gluten free bread options for the brunch or even for dinner. My daughter-in-law has many food allergies and they had no options for toast with her omelet.
Always our first choice for brunch!
Always loved the food quality especially when it comes to steak. This time we tried the tips which were really chewy and tough. Risotto was outstanding so 50 50
We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us ahead of time which we appreciated. Our server left a lot to be desired which has colored our opinion of the restaurant. Tables arriving after us were served bread and had orders taken before us. We only received bread after we asked. Husband ordered a steak special over lentil salad. He said the steak was cooked perfectly but had no flavor. Lentils in the salad were hard and needed to be cooked longer. I ordered the artichoke quinoa salad. It amounted to a pile of very dry greens on one side of the plate and a timbale like thing with the quinoa and artichokes glued together with goat cheese on the other side of the plate. Not especially tasty either. I had to ask for some dressing. There was a piano player that evening, but the music was loud enough that I couldn't hear my husband across the table. Given all the delicious choices in Portsmouth I don't think we will be back here.
We took friends out to celebrate, and everyone really enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, and delicious food. Great service, live music, such a treat!
Good food we went for Sunday brunch and jazz.
I did not like that my "classic" Eggs Benedict came with regular thin ham slices and not real thicker cut Canadian bacon, not cool.
Surpassed our expectations. Salad, bruschetta, salmon, Mac & cheese, all an interesting twist, all delicious. Looking forward to our next visit.
We enjoyed the musicians playing jazz piano and upright bass, very talented artists.
Food was great, server was very knowledgeable.
Enjoyed sitting at the bar and listening a wonderful Jazz. The dinner special was excellent as was the bottle of wine. The staff is very friendly and both the service and the food were really lovely. Definitely one of our favorites.
Rudis is one of our favorite Portsmouth restaurants. Can expect good food, good service and good ambiance. We had crab cakes and the haddock curry dish. Both excellent. Only suggestion for improvement is bok choy was tough and stringy. Maybe take more off the bottom before cooking
Our server Jossalyn was the best - probably the best server we have had in Portsmouth after arriving and dining here two years ago! Our meal was terrific as usual. We dine at Rudi's fairly frequently.
Scrumptious meal, appetizers, drinks, and dessert for a fair price. Great location in downtown Portsmouth with some on site parking and access to a parking garage within 100 yards. Live music, and a tidy interior.
Great food in a cozy atmosphere, good bar! Wait staff very helpful in making selections
I've just started to come regularly to Rudi's (I live just a couple of blocks away), and I've been pleased overall with the restaurant. The food has always been good (my asparagus salad and risotto were both fantastic). My Old Fashioned was unremarkable and the wine list is not extensive. But I've received good service from the bar (which is a nice place to congregate in the evening). The atmosphere in the restaurant is good--and, unlike many restaurants in Portsmouth, they know an appropriate volume for the music, allowing their customers to carry on a conversation.
Rudis great atmosphere is ideal for all situations, semi casual girls night out or anniversary. It is my favorite special occasion restaurant in downtown Portsmouth.
Good food and atmosphere.
The visit was quite enjoyable. A larger party negativley impacted service, and the noise level was higher than I expected making conversation a bit difficult.
The portions are small and the meals are on the pricey side. Our waiter was inattentive. Will not be going back.
Took my lovely lady to celebrate a special Mothers Day. Every time we go to Rudi's we come away very pleased. The food was delicious, the servers are always great and the ambience today with the Jazz duo was absolutely top notch. Thank you to everyone at Rudi's for a very delightful brunch.
We had a great Mothers Day brunch with great food and excellent service.
Great experience once again - we frequent Rudi's a lot and it is one of our favorite Portsmouth restaurants and we liver in the area. Our server was terrific and the entree's were to die for.
We enjoyed a very relaxing Jazz Sunday Brunch. They had a great variety of options on the menu, all of which were reasonably priced, especially for downtown Portsmouth. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive but not annoying at all. The mimosas were also delicious, they didn't skip on the champagne. The only negative was that the Jazz music seemed a bit loud for the room size, but we were still able to talk without raising our voices (or maybe I'm just old!!!)
Enjoyed food, atmosphere, piano player and service. Great spot!!!
Rudi's has a nice quiet and relaxing atmosphere for both bar and restaurant area. The food was really good and the menu had a variety of choices. The restaurant is great for small or large groups. I would recommended the restaurants to family and friends and plan on going back for lunch or dinner sometime soon. Great service and well timed.
Went to Rudi's for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. Kid Pinky was playing. Great jazz group. The ambience is upscale but comfortable. Seating allows you to have a conversation without hearing others. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. Nice array of choices on the Brunch menu. Setting is romantic. Music was great. Definitely recommend it for an early Sunday date.
We had the roasted beet salad and the crab Benedict for a Saturday brunch and both were very, very good. The service was very good and the ambiance was elegant. We will be back.
Ask for Justin... Spot on service.
Went for Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday. Food and service were fabulous. The bacon is the best I've ever had! Our server Ali was fantastic.
Waiter was slow, like I think he forgot we were there half the time slow. Food came out really quick after we ordered only to find out that it was probably precooked. Pouched egg had raw egg whites through out, most of the things that were suppose to be on the salmon were not i.e. Capers, red onion and dill. English muffin was soggy and home fries were cold.
My group of friends and I enjoyed our dinner at Rudi's. Two were vegetarian, and they were able to find good things to eat. The pumpkin apple bisque was outstanding, but everything was very good, and portions were really generous. We also enjoyed the piano music. The crowd was pretty noisy the night we were there, but maybe that was just the luck of the draw.
Ordered the night's special, steak frites, medium rare. Came out closer to medium, and about one third of it was well done. Also, the fries were way over-salted. I did mention the cook on the steak to the server, who apologized and offered a free dessert. A nice touch. Service was very good.
Great place. We went there for dinner and they had a pianist. The wine and food were great and the staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Good food, service, BUT, the crab cake appetizer was not good at all. Not only could we not find any crab in it, but there was not even the slightest taste of crab. It tasted like a bland stuffing. We honestly believe someone forgot to add the crab meat to it!
Overall we had a good experience at Rudi's. Great service, attentive server. Live music in the background was nice. Food and drinks were good. Started with the chicken satay appetizer (very tasty) and had the steak tips and the lamb for dinner. Large portions. Everything was cooked well and as ordered. A good spot for dinner downtown!
We stopped here on our way to Maine, and were staying overnight. It was close to our hotel, and we were pleased that it turned out to be just excellent.
We usually really enjoy a Rudi's brunch. However, Sunday they were not up to par! The food was overdone and potatoes cold. Service to get our bill was extremely slow, I finally had to ask for it. Hoping this is not a trend and simple an off day.
