Ruby River Steakhouse - Provo
Ruby river was very good. The only problem we encountered was that they had NO RECORD
OF OUR RESERVATION SO WE HAD TO WAIT ALMOST 30 Minutes to be seated. 30 minutes is not a bad wait time for a Friday night without a reservation. The hostess told us that this happens often. WHY???
Our server Gabe was the best! The rest of the experience was poor. We booked online and when we got there we were told they stopped doing that but they could cut our 40min wait to 20 minutes. We waited because everywhere else was booked. The food came out quickly but was not good, the steaks had no flavor. Gabe our server was fast and polite and we never had an empty glass. He had a large section to take care of and he was flying around to everyone to keep people happy. Great job Gabe!!
We made a reservation on line, which was confirmed with a confirmation number. When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. We showed her our reservation confirmation number. Your attendant apologized and said we would be seated as a party of six after one other party of six. In about twenty minutes, the lobby had cleared and the other party of six either left or was seated. Your attendant then came up to us and asked if we had a reservation - ??????? I informed her that not only had we had a reservation, but she took our information just twenty minutes before!!!!!! We saw at least five tables which were empty. It still took another ten minutes to seat us! Per our food order, one of our members did not received the potato side ordered until we finally caught a waiter and asked her to bring it.
Staff said they don’t take open table and we had to wait for 30 minutes for a table
The food was good. It would be nice with more salad entrees, and pasta type choices and it could have been cleaner.
We had a fun time with or group. Ruby River really should do some more dynamic advertising and specials. Provo lacks in the area of good restaurants. Too many fast food places.
It was so very convenient to walk to from our hotel. We were staying at Fairfield Suites The food was just so so. My husband had the prime rib and it was very very fatty. I ordered salmon and it was quite good. The baked potato was just ok.
Maybe it’s hit or miss.
I made a reservation on Open Table, but when we arrived at the restaurant, we were told that I didn't have a reservation. Making a reservation on Open Table apparently is the equivalent of being put on the wait list, so we still had to wait 20 minutes when we arrived. People not on the waitlist had to wait for 40 minutes, so it coulda been worse.. Aside from that, it was a great experience. The food, & service were excellent!
It was very hot in the restaurant. Holly the waitress was overwhelmed with the heat and amount of customers. Drinks came out watered down. Food was 3 stars.
Our server was sweet but inexperienced and apparently not trained. Food descriptions were inaccurate and there was no follow up. The filet skewers were terrible cuts and without flavor. I have been there a few times before with 4 star service & food. Perhaps a bad night for them.
I was not impressed by restaurant seemed a little dirty, the lamps on the table has dust on them and straw papers under lamp. Dry messy. The food was good and cooked as we ordered, I was not impress with the looks overall. Probably for the price would not go back.
This location does not fully honor Open Table reservations. When we arrived on time for our reservation we were told that we were on a "waiting list" and that our wait was cut in half; instead of the 30-40 minute wait that others were given we were given 15-20 minutes. Not what I expect when I make a reservation. If they don't accept reservations for smaller parties this should be made clear in advance.
I'm not exactly sure why the large prime rib is thirty dollars....... its flavor wasn't great, the horse radish was the best part. The restaurant I work at has a better and way cheaper prime rib. The broccoli was drenched in water and had no flavor. My toddler did love her chicken strips, and my dad was happy.
Food and service were great but making a reservation through Open Table was a waste of time as they did not have my reservation on record when I arrived. Fortunately, we were seated quickly but if you go there thinking you've made a reservation, you will be disappointed.
The jacketed baked potato - battered and deep fried- was the best potato I ever had. The steak was excellent. My husband enjoyed the bucket of peanuts. If we ever get back to Provo, we will definitely return to this steakhouse!
did not have my open table reservation and they said they frequently do not get info from open table. will only serve fish well done because of health reasons but served my steak medium rare. How is gtht for hypocrisy
Loved everything about it! It’s always an amazing experience! I’ve never been disappointed yet!
My steak was amazing, the server was on top of everything and our overall experience was wonderful and I tell all my friends to go there.
It’s the best place w/ ribs cooked so tender, we love the onion appetizer & my husband loves how they cook his ribeye steak. He says it’s the best steak in the state of Utah. The service is always great, every server we’ve ever had have been suburb. Not even letting our drinks get close to empty. We tell everyone that they need to go to Ruby River.
The hostess must've been new, my father was waiting to be seated with me (seated earlier) was told to wait by the door and had to come and find me. Other than that our service was wonderful, our waiter was very prompt and courteous, our food came out quickly and was very delicious, drink refills came quick as well. Very happy, will be coming back.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. Food is consistent. Good value.
This is our go to date night place. We love the food and have always had great service.
I booked a table through Open Table and confirmed the booking 2 separate times.
However when I arrived I was told my booking was not on the system so we had to wait for 1 hour.
this was my first date with a girl and it couldn’t have started any worse
DO NOT TRY TO MAKE A RESERVATION THROUGH OPENTABLE
THEY DO NOT LINK TO RUBY RIVER, YOU WILL HAVE NO RESERVATUON AND A LONG WAIT BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD A RESERVATION
Been there 10+ times over the past 20+ years. Was our go-to place for special occasions. Went this week for first time in a few years and was very disappointed. It was admittedly very busy and the people tried, but there were just a number of disappointments that left a very poor taste in my mouth (a few of them literally). I'm very sad about it, and am not sure I'll be back.
My wife and I went there for our 14th Anniversary. I was able to hear her sitting across from me. I am a little hard of hearing so I was happy with the ambient of the restaurant. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed their menu options.
Great food, great service, and a great variety of food to choose from.
We were in town for business and I took clients here for dinner. We sat in the bar area and got immediate service from the bartender who also bought us a round. We requested to have the channel turned to the football game and the did right away. I was slightly disappointed with my Filet oscar style simple because of the bacon wrap. Simply my issue. Love bacon but for some reason didnt do the meal justice. All else was great. I would go back again.
This is my mine and my husband's favorite date night restaurant. So good. Amazing steaks and sides, great portions and a good price for the quality of food.
This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. An Open Table restaurant, with “dry aged steaks” and it took 2 days to get a reservation. When I arrived I realized it was not at all what I’d been expecting, it was more like a Lone Star Steakhouse attached to a Ramada Inn with ambiance and noise level to match. I was asked to sit at a high top at the bar and I said no, so I was then asked if I’d like I booth to which I happily agreed. The waiter came promptly, and asked if I’d like to order. I asked for calimari and (a very odd choice, I know) a shot of Baileys, which came watered down looking like cloudy milk. I was asked if I’d like to go ahead and order. I ordered a wedge salad, and upon the waiter’s recommendation for tenderness and marbling, the prime rib with a warm red center and a baked potato. I had had two bites of the calamari that was brought out to me when my salad appeared, then my entire meal came one minute later. I looked at the waiter and asked what I was supposed to do with all this food at once and his response was that the kitchen made him bring it all out together. Were they displeased by my having a booth and me being just one person? I valiantly tried, I did. I gave up on the calamari, ate another bite of salad and started in on the prime rib. It was pink. I tried using the steak knife to cut it and ended up having to saw through it. I turned it over and saw it was well done on the underside. I attempted to keep cutting, but the meat was chewy and I had a red mark from where the steak knife was hitting my palm. I asked to see a manager & told him how disappointed I was in my dining experience and he blamed the waiter. When I pointed out the doneness of the prime rib, he said it had cooked on the hot dinner plate as it was brought to my table. I asked to have my meal taken off the bill and was presented w a bill for $16 for the calamari I hadn’t had time to eat and the watered down shot of Baileys. Awful.
Romantic dinner with my girlfriend. Fun place to go after sightseeing in the area.
Food was fine and service was good overall, but our Open Table reservation was not recognized as we were told by staff that they did not use Open Table, so we had to wait for a table. Response to my showing them the reservation on my phone was “that’s so weird!” Luckily the wait was not long or this would have been a grumpier review.
Everything here was amazing! The food was great and the atmosphere was really nice and quiet. When we arrived they informed us that they don’t get the information from the online reservations, but you can call in a reservation if you want to.
If you should make a reservation on a Saturday, it will will mean nothing when you arrive. If your reservation is for 7ish count on a 40 min wait. Not good.
We had a small group of business colleagues in from various locations outside Utah and chose this steakhouse.
Bad food for the price you can get significantly better tasting food elsewhere. Also made reservations online and get there to find out the reservation is no good for parties less then 6. Had to wait 30 minutes ended up sitting at the bar.
I used the round table reservation and the front desk didn't really know anything a bout it, and we didn't get in until about 20 minutes after reservation time.
All in all it ended up being ok. Great steaks grilled perfectly to our liking per our order. Friendly staff. However, we made a reservation from this site and the directions there were a joke. Then when we got there the host said that they had to wait to seat us until they had a server that could serve us because they had let all the servers from the lunch shift go I guess. I've been a server and know that that happens but there was only two other tables in the restaurant that had guests eating and they already had their food. I guess whoever the manager is must have not gone to Managment school or something. They actually made us wait until another server came which was about 15 or so minutes. A GOOD manager would have come out themselves and apologized and would have served us until the next server available had arrived.
Did not honor our Open Table reservation; said they no longer do Open Table. Really?
Had an absolutely perfect evening. The food, staff and atmosphere were amazing!
The filet mignon was excellent, appetizer was also great. Great portion. Love the price.
