Always delicious and convivial.
All the seafood is cooked as well as much pricier establishments. Sublime experience.
Every bite was incredible. Flavorful and fresh! Highly recommend!
Great little neighborhood gem. Ordered fried catfish and oysters. Both were very good. Great Cajun/Creole in our backyard. Can’t wait to try their other dishes.
We've been going to RT's for many years. The food and service are reliably excellent -- never had a bad meal or dish. She Crab soup remains my favorite. Prices are very reasonable.
The food was good, but not great. It was just enough creole to make you want better creole. Service was great all around.
It's the best Cajun restaurant in the DC area. The decor is about 30 years old and the ambiance is quite informal.
The food however, is very dependable. Best ingredient and consistent preparation. I come here for about 18 years now and had not one 'fail' in the food or the preparation.
Lucky me, it's 45 min away from my house. Otherwise I would probably have gained a few pounds ...
RT’s never disappoints! Neighborhood charm and a comfortable place either at a table or in the bar. The food options are plentiful and everything is so delicious from the crawfish and grits appetizer to the shellfish etouffe and shrimp Norman. Louisiana fine dining —so good. And the people who work here are friendly and competent.
Lovely meal, friendly service, and terrific value for the price. I will definitely return.
Girlfriend and I went here for a casual date night, and it couldn't be more perfect. Got a shrimp appetizer, girlfriend got the crab special, and I got catfish smothered with etouffee. So authentic, and amazing hearty flavors. One appetizer, two drinks, two entrees, and a dessert were $100, and definitely worth it.
We've been eating at RT's for years and the food is consistently good and the staff is very friendly. I usually recommend RT's when friends want to gather for dinner.
RT's is always excellent. A 20+ minute drive for us each way but well worth it. My wife likes the catahoula (not anything to do with the dog breed). Me--everything
Excellent Service, Great Food We went there for the first time for a birthday celebration.
Nothing special about this restaurant other than very good service. Food was just ordinary. No need to return.
RT's was wonderful as always. They never disappoint us.
Aid made a reservation through Open Table. The website gave the hours and I was able to successfully reserve a table. Once my business colleagues and I arrived vis an Uber ride, we discovered that the restaurant was closed even though the website stated the restaurant would be open.
First time I had ever heard of this restaurant but wanted to take my mom somewhere good for her 70th birthday. RT's Restaurant received good Yelp reviews so I figured it would be safe to give it a try. When I told my mom where we were going, a few days later she mentioned that RT's Restaurant sounded very familiar to her. When we arrived there, it turns out she used to come to RT's for lunch with her former co-workers back in the 80's/90s and they all LOVED the restaurant. We both ordered the She Crab Soup and my mom said it's exactly as good as she remembers...I too was impressed.
I ordered the Trout and she ordered the Pecan Haddock, both were very very good! When dessert time came I passed because I was quite full but my mom wanted dessert and the server recommended the Oatmeal Pie. We both had never heard of this and thought it sounded so odd but since the server recommended it and said it was his favorite, mom ordered it. Oh. My. Goodness was it delightful!! I actually ate almost half of it, lol...but it was quite a good size slice so I didn't deprive mom of to much of it.
RT's keep up the great food and service!
I'm from New Orleans and this restaurant is the closest thing to home I've found.
My wife and I recently had the opportunity for a date night. We decided on dinner and a movie and I didn’t want to go to one of our usual spots. I remembered that RT’s had seafood so I looked them up. I loved what I saw on their menu but we’d gone here before many years ago and didn’t love it. I decided to give it a try and I am so glad that I did. Our server was fantastic. She was friendly and upbeat and very knowledgeable. No hesitations when explaining the specials and happily answered all of our questions. I had the cream of crab soup and the crab cakes and both were out of this world. I also tried a glass of the house Chardonnay and it exceeded my expectations. It really did. I’m sure that we’ll return again soon because it was just that good. I’m so glad that we gave RT’s a long overdue second try.
RT's has long been a favorite of ours, and they never disappoint. Delicious food, attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere.
Love this restaurant
Great service and good food!!
Traveling for KS and came across RT's and ended up having a wonderful dinner and great service. Will hit again when in DC.
RT's was excellent as always. We took friends who had never been there, and they were as delighted as we always are. Two of us had the stuffed rockfish special and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friend had a steak and reported that it was great. My husband had the court-bouillon, as he often does, and it was just as great as usual. And our server John is one of the best in the business.
First time for us. We will be back as this was a hidden gem under our noses. Great food and service.
We discovered RT's several years ago on New Year's Eve. My husband is from New Orleans and the son of a chef. He is very critical of food advertised as New Orleans cuisine if it does not come correct. RT's is the only restaurant in the DC metropolitan area that he loves. He swears that if the chef is not from New Orleans he was taught there. The food is always wonderful and the atmosphere cozy. I highly recommend RT's to everyone, you will not be disappointed.
Good food, friendly, accommodated a large party, convenient.
RTs has been around forever. Great Cajun food, great service and kind of a little gem in a poor latino community.
This restaurant is a jewel. Superb service, remarkable food. Chefs deliver your ask, menu item or not. Creative and scrumptious. You will not leave a bite!
After multiple visits for special occasions, our dinner on Feb 27 2018 was a surprising disappointment on most fronts. Slow service. Over cooked calamari. Dried out filet mignon. Too salty Shrimp Diane. Watery cokes. Feeling shoved into a corner booth too close to the other customers rather than seated in the other dining room as if staff was too limited to accommodate another room.
If this had been our first visit, we would not return. We'll give it another try in a few months, hoping for a return of what we'd come to value: great food, attentive service, casual and comfy ambiance.
It is amazing that this restaurant has still maintained a consistent and reputable menu and atmosphere. The she-crab soup was delicious, and the broiled stuffed shrimp were tasty. The service was attentive and non-obstructive, yet efficient. There is a large parking lot across the street from the restaurant. I will not wait so long to return to RTs.
The decor is a little dated, but the food was good.
Not in an area you would expect s restaurant to be. New Orleans type food. Not too spicy. Food was average. Thought prices were a bit high.
Awesome as usual! Great food and drink and very attentive service!!!
I had totally forgotten about RTs and decided to return. The food and service were both excellent. I loved the She Crab Bisque and the Seafood in Parchment Paper was excellent. Prices are not bad at all and the service is pretty good. Definitely one to try in the Arlandria area.
Very good, down home Cajun food. First time visit and expect to go back soon and often. Very busy on a Sunday evening, clearly a local favorite hides behind the unassuming entrance. Pre-dinner Sazerac cocktail hit all the marks. She-crab soup was rich and absolutely delicious. Loved the Oysters Nezpique and the red beans and rice. Most main number dishes ran in the $20-$25 range with many oyster options. Very respectable wine list; the Gruner Veltliner went very well will the food and there were many other varietals available by the glass. Yes, the presentation and ambiance is more 60’s fish restaurant, but it has its own charm. It does not hurt that there is a free public parking lot just half a block south of the restaurant.
The quality of the cuisine is a pleasant surprise in this warm and cozy neighborhood gem. We were especially impressed by the extensive and sophisticated menu selections. Definitely a reliable dinner favorite.
This place is very low key with amazing food! Although I was here for a date, it was perfect! It wasn't crowded and the waitress was very attentive. The food is on the expensive but the portions of food was perfect! I would definitely return again when I'm in the area.
Plus it's free parking across the street!
Good and service was great. Would recommend if someone is looking for flavorful, authentic Cajun food.
Enjoyable with friends from out of town. It’s a neighborhood gem:
