Roy's Woodland Hills Ratings and Reviews
The food was very tasty as usual. The Hawaiian fusion flavors that are offered really entertain the palate. We loved the seafood that is always on the menu. The service was quite nice and the people were very attentive. The desserts are very good to look at and eat...not too sweet...just right.
We have visited many Roy's restaurants throughout the US and Hawaii and this was our first visit to Woodland Hills. Chef June is a master at his craft. He took time to stop by our table and chat with us about his influences and his cooking style. The Waygu burger was unbelievable. The Macadamia nut crusted whitefish superb, flavorful and very moist. The 1988 Roy's martini is always the standard and this location hit the mark. Managing Partner, Jason stopped by our table and thanked us for dining with them. Our server Samantha was very helpful and made our dining experience a memorable one.
We will be back for sure.
My husband and I ate at the Woodland Hills restaurant and it was almost as perfect as their restaurant in Maui. The servings are small and a la carte, so be prepared to spend some money. I had the scallops, which were amazing. My husband had the prawns and he found them to be a little bland, but the noodles served with the prawns were excellent. Also, the Aloha Roll was delicious. If you're a soufflé fan, I would not recommend their chocolate soufflé. It was only okay. Not as light and fluffy as I was expecting. Maybe mine was overcooked. Our server was excellent and she gave great recommendations. Overall, I would not hesitate to go back there.
Roy's seem to be losing that special flair it used to have. It seems like an average run of the mill restaurant now. In the last few years, the service and food taste has declined. Maybe it's a new ownership? I don't know the reason for it, but it's no longer our favorite restaurant. The last couple of dinners we've had there, I had ordered the Chef's Special, only to find out that they had ran out of ingredients. I can see if we were having dinner there late in the night but right when they first opened for dinner, how can they run out of the special ?....If this happened once, I can understand but the last three times ?......Their attention to detail is missing.
Service was excellent. Food was inconsistent and overpriced. Appetizers of decent tuna poke and good lobster potstickers. Entree of scallops was quite good. Entree of jumbo shrimp and noodles was terrible — noodles were drowning in soy sauce and portion was appetizer size. Dessert of key lime cheesecake was very good. Pineapple upside down cake was awful - burned rather than caramelized, and canned pineapple chunks. Price was far greater than quality.
The seafood combo was food but the portion was skimpy. Only one scallop! The 4 fish combo was also good but the salmon was overcooled and dry. I mentioned it to the server who immediately replaced the salmon. The restaurant is upscale and quite pricey for an everyday dining spot. We will try it again when we have a special occasion to celebrate.
Salad was awful. Avoid the fish. Got nauseated after eating it. Chairs have springs coming out of them. The waitress was super nice. The manager was great and apologetic about the fish. Comped our meal. I would only have chicken or beef if i go there again.
Service was exceptional but then we were the only ones in the entire restaurant for brunch. Another small group came in 1 hour later. Food great, drinks incredible. Not sure why this place is not more popular. Was a bit expensive- we dropped $100 on brunch.
Drinks too awhile even though they were slow.
Wagu burger was just ok
Waiter gave me wrong bill
Said he’d reverse charges plus credit valet charge but when I went to valet it wasn’t charged. Had to pay cash there. Not that big of deal more annoyed at that point.
We love Roys. Service is excellent! Food is very good and they will adjust it however you want it. Best part is I can have sushi and my husband can enjoy meat. We also take advantage of the discount offers they send out periodically...makes the pricing very reasonable!
We hadn't been to Roy's in a while, as a couple of years ago we had some disappointing experiences. I am glad to say that they've gone back to their usual excellence! Everything was totally delicious. The Poke and crispy Chicken rolls were standout appetizers, the sushi roll (Sunrise something) was fabulous, and the fish and desserts outstanding. Great, attentive service and a good deal to boot. We'll be back soon!
