The food was very good and the service was excellent. This is a wonderful place to go, especially for special occasions.
For the price, food was subpar and not Hawaiian. Fish was overcooked , dishes were oversweetened, food was not authentic. The desserts were very sweet as well. My cocktail was yummy though. My Dad is from Hawaii so I know Hawaiian food; the food was more Asian fusion—very disappointing. Service and ambiance was excellent, but should have had Hawaiian music playing. I like the photo the waiter gave us and the complimentary dessert because it was my birthday. Sadly, we would not return. My husband and daughter both had stomachaches when coming home because the food was too rich.
Came for my birthday.
Host & waiter both acknowledged it & we were seated at a great table.
Delicious food (took advantage of Mahalo Monday prix fix menu) Yum!
Service was excellent.
We got there at 5:45 pm. My husband wanted steak. We were told by the waiter that they were out of steak tonight. It turns out, there was a private party and steak was on the menu and they were saving the steak for the private party. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants for special occasions. Although the management has tried to make us happy by giving us $150 in gift cards, I really do not want to go back. This was our 3 time eating here in the past 6 months and we have had one disappointment after another. Again, the management has always tried to make it better. I cannot complain about that.
Roy's is our favorite place for a special evening out. We know we will always find something everyone in the family enjoys. We know it will always feel like we've treated ourselves to a special meal. It never fails! I had a fish dish that melted in my mouth and had a Lobster bisque just as delicious. My son had a pork chop he thoroughly enjoyed. My husband ate sushi for dinner and was happy with his choice too. Look forward to going back!
We love Roy's and always have a good time eating here. Tonight our server was Candice and we just loved her.
We enjoy this location and dine here fairly often. Samantha is our favorite server and we find that all the female staff will smile and remain attentive throughout the entire meal. Bus staff performs without being intrusive. Bartender makes a great Rye Me A River, so we keep ordering that particular cocktail! The wine list has many good options, although they were sold of of the Roy's House Wine this Saturday night, surprising. We do enjoy all the appetizers and will often make a meal by ordering a variety of rolls, ribs, and sides. Last month we thoroughly enjoyed the Limited Time Only Global Tasting Philippines Menu and it was delicious. We decided to return and have it again before it is removed from the menu. While good, we did find the Pork Shank to be slightly dry this time.
Okay, definitely not outstanding like several years ago
Food was delicious and the service was great!
Food was served cold, had to ask to take it back just to have them bring it back to our table cold again. It seemed to me that each entree sat for a while somewhere. I ordered the crusted mahi and was disappointed, potatoes were raw and the fish was nothing to brag about.
Service was very slow from the beginning to the end.
We were a bit surprised that only one person was greeting and seating guests. Usually, there is two or three handling the first impression. The food was good - The plates were hot, however the food was a bit tepid. Overall, of course, everything was wonderful and we look forward to out next visit.
Great meal, great service. I like their spin on fusion cuisine.
I got sick a few hours after eating at Roy’s
Never eating there again
Food was elegantly prepared and service was just the right level of attentiveness
The cod was good but not great and it could have been hotter in temperature. The mahi-mahi was just OK. The crab fried rice was excellent but didn’t have much crab in it. The Hawaiian martini was amazing. Loved the lobster potstickers.
My husand ordered the Opah on the chef's special and it was very dry and he had to send it back. They were happy to replace it with a new meal. The service was outstanding!
Excellent service and food!
Awesome as always!
We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Roy's. As is typical of our dining experiences there, everything was excellent - food, service, and ambience. Our waiter, Sean, provided outstanding service. We appreciated that Sean made some personal recommendations to us, which were delicious. We love the uniqueness of the menu selections at Roy's, and the wonderful taste of the fusion items. It is our go-to place to celebrate occasions, or just to enjoy a great meal in a superb atmosphere. The staff always remembers us personally, which makes it all the more worthwhile of an experience. We look forward to returning soon for another great dining experience!
I prefer the Pasadena Roy's--each time the food is more consistent there. While our family loves to eat at Roy's especially with their Monday Specials (great value), the Woodland Hills location does not provide consistent food quality. The presentation doesn't make the food appealing. I'm always getting different quality and quantity for the kid's meal. You just never get consistently good food compared to the Pasadena location...unfortunately. Service is always good however.
I expressed to our server upon sitting that I was experiencing a severe headache and needed bread or something to eat asap. It took him 15 minutes to bring dry bread. He told us this was his 2nd day at Roy's. It is hard to believe Roy's would hire staff with no prior experience, but evidently they did. We had to ask him for a number of things he should have taken care of, like removing the unused wine glasses cluttering the table, bringing suitable knives, etc. My husband and I both ordered the pork chop. His was dry and flavorless, but mine was fine. However, the broccoli was horrible. We haven't figured out how it was cooked to be so hard that it couldn't be cut with a steak knife. Lastly, we were expecting a small dessert portion for my husband's birthday. However, at the start of our meal, our waiter asked if we wanted a dessert that would take a while to make. No one at the table was able to consider dessert after we had started eating. We told him we wouldn't need anything specially prepared. After our plates were cleared, we were handed the check. The waiter did not ask if we wanted dessert, let alone offer something to my husband. We didn't say anything at the time because we simply didn't want a negative vibe at an otherwise fun celebration. I will be writing to the manager.
wish they would have the pineapple and cherry with umbrella back in the Mai tais --- miss it gave it the whole experience
It was a birthday and the staff was very accommodating and offered to take a photo of the group and gave us one as a parting gift. Lovely evening. Thank you,
Delicious and the service excellant. I always meet my best friend there for lunch. This time she bought 3 friends who also loved it.
I would have to think about recommending Roy's. Food quality and taste is still good however the portion size has shrunk, while it seems the prices have gone up.
Leilani sushi roll good and the spring rolls. Fish dishes mediocre. Service slow.
Combined a birthday celebration with the fillet and lobster special. Added some drinks (the Mai-Tai was a little disappointing) and great family/company, and the evening was very special. Our server handled all six of us with ease and great care by himself (save for the serving of the food which only helped ensure everyone's food was at the right temperature). Overall, a good experience that we will try to re-create for other birthday celebrations or special events.
The vegetarian dish Napolean was very dry and disappointing this time.
I think some more vegetarian dishes need to be added to the menu
You maybe losing out on customers for that specific reason!!!
We really enjoy coming to Roy's!!!
The service, and ambiance is always great.
We were there for the Mahalo Monday Special, can't beat the value! It was pretty quiet since it was Monday. The service was good, the food was excellent! Definitely will come back.
We regularly dine at this Roy's location. Generally, we love all the special rolls, the ribs, the Crab Fried Rice and can easily make a meal of all the appetizers! When we are in the mood for full entrees, I recommend The Butterfish or Braised Beef, both are is excellent, extremely tasty entrees. Tonight we opted to try the Special Philippine Menu. This menu is AMAZING and I will add an exceptional value. The Pork Belly Skewers were delicious, served with a papaya slaw that was unique. The Braised Pork Shank was incredible, really flavorful and served with haricot verts and scant polenta. It is definitely a meal we will go back to try before this special is removed from the menu!!! The banana fritter with chocolate flan was the perfect amount of sweet to end the experience. Can't review this restaurant location without giving a shout out to her FAVORITE server, Samantha. She rocks!
Food is ok but not great. Our waitress was wonderful, great smile and attentive.
The food took a bit too long to come and not very many people were in the venue..
Overall experience was good but felt service wasn't up to par for this level of restaurant and it's lofty prices.
Entrees were not as good as we'd remembered from years past, but the lobster bisque and chocolate lava cake were delicious.
Went to lunch with my daughter. We both ordered the Taste of the Philippines special. Typically it's only available for dinner, but the chef was gracious to make it for us. Flavorful!Delicious! Nice presentation. Excellent service.
Very few people and 2 orders of 5 had issues. One overcooked, the other forgotten with no compensation
Roy’s is great for us because everyone in my family can eat there. Having one vegan member with two low carb eaters makes it very hard to find a place we can all enjoy. If there was one closer to my house and price wasn’t so high we would eat there once a week.
Everything was perfect, We were greeted with a happy host and our table was ready. The food was excellent and they remembered our anniversary.
My husband had the NY strip and he says it was the best steak he has had in Cali. The food was really delicious. They let us sit at the bar area to watch the Thursday night NFL game. I am really surprised at how empty this restaurant was for such a great location. We will definitely be returning.
