Service was awesome by every staff member that came by our table and the food was delicious!
Always come here for our night out. Enjoyed very much.
We had a wonderful and very tasty dinner with appetizers and the surf and turf dinner. The service was excellent in these times with social distancing and Covid. We look forward to another wonderful meal there.
Food was outstanding as usual, although the molten lava cake was disappointing in comparison to previous times. The service started off good but quickly declined and we found we were waiting long periods of time for plates to be cleared and the bill to be brought over. There was no food quality check for our main course or our dessert. Improvements in service would have made this 5 stars over all.
Ahi and Butterfush dishes were wonderful!
Great food (especially the fish dishes) but very rich; couldn't finish my meal after appetizers. Avoid as the last night in Hawaii so you can get a leftover box for the next day.
Very good experience
Our server Brandon was the most charming and engaging server we had on our trip. He was knowledgeable about the menu items and made fantastic recommendations. The soy glazed butterfish entree was “the best fish dish I’ve ever tasted” according to my father. To note, the boar rangoons and chocolate soufflé were magic. Thanks Brandon!
Slightly different menu than previous. Butterfield very good as was combo beef rib/shrimp. Tables for separated for Covid. Well serviced. Certainly will return.
Roy’s never disappoints. The service was excellent! The food was excellent! And the Mai Tais were the best ever! We’ll come back again and again.
We had a lovely evening at Roy’s. I think like everywhere else, they are struggling with getting help. Our server seemed extremely rushed. We had asked for a list of wine by the bottle. We never got one so finally just ordered a glass, after the meal came. Everything was very nice, it just wasn’t top notch like it has been in the past. The food was spectacular as always.
We were really looking forward to this dinner and went into it with expectations on the lower side, because of other reviews. There was maybe two servers for the whole restaurant, so very slow but also very friendly. Food was good, not great. Dessert was comped due to slow service (it took 20 mins), but tasty. We will not be going back until we know the experience has improved.
Roy’s used to be amazing but this place has steadily declined. I will say our server was very lovely and support staff helpful. The condition of restaurant is awful, chairs all torn and worn out, run down. The food was maybe a 3/10. I had to send my fish back twice cause it was drowning in syrupy sauce. This place used to be iconic and it has such an opportunity and captive market in Waikoloa but it needs a serious facelift and a lot more attention to detail on good food.
Restaurant badly needs updating - cushions on chairs crumbling, walls dirty - very poor upkeep. Limited menu, some items not available. Would never return
We are frequent diners at Roy’s in Scottsdale. It is a wonderful restaurant. This Roy’s was an absolute disappointment.
From the time we sat down, we had to request silverware which was delivered without napkins. We then requested napkins.
The furniture was dated and worn. It took a long time to get any service. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm.
We would be hard pressed to visit or recommend this Roy’s.
Waited over 20 minutes for cocktails to be served. Dinner salad was served before cocktails. Disappointed in crab cakes.
Wonderful food and service. Excellent wine selection.
Arnie our waiter was friendly, attentive and informative.
Food has definitely gone down in quality. Understaffed and not adapting to it. Interior worn out and tired looking.
We have been to many Roy’s over the years and this was just the worst. The setting was indoors with the AC at full blast, and felt like a diner. The food was mostly over cooked. The staff was pleasant.
What a disappointment. We were there many times in the past . Not sure if because of covid. The ambiance was horrible. No table cloths the lights were high. It was freezing inside. The wait staff was no where to be found. There was some promise as the appetizers were pretty good. The fish was tender but overly saturated with seasoning. The rib-eye tough. Had to seek out anyone to pay the bill $400 such a disappointment
Kitchen was very slow. Wait staff was excellent. we arrived at 6:15 pm with a reservation. Wine, appetizer and meal were ordered by 6:30 pm. Received wine and appetizers by 6:40 pm.
Did not receive main course until 7:40 pm.. several tables in our area appeared to express concern about the time it was taking for their meals also.
Great dinner for our first night in Hawaii. The ribs are amazing, tender and flavorful with a hint of spice. The butterfish was outstanding as was the bok choy and forbidden rice. The molten chocolate desert completed a perfect meal.
Our meal last night was incredible! Heather (our waitperson) was SO knowledgeable, personable and welcoming. Kai was also very helpful and charming. I would double the stars if I could! A wonderful, memorable evening.
The ribeye steak had a lot of fat and one part was charred despite I ordered it medium rare.
Delicious food, lovely view and ambiance and friendly service.
Food, service --wonderful. Couldn't have been better. Loved the Wild Boar Rangoon--Amazing smokiness. I had Ono (fish) which which had a lightly spicy sauce accompanying it. My companion had Mahi Mahi encrusted with macadamia nuts. We will return.
The service staff was great, the food was awesome. The ambiance was not so good
Not our typical Roy’s experience.
Loved our time at Roy's. Food was delicious, service prompt and caring.
Ordered surf and turf for $63 and it came out well done, both ordered medium one medium rare, and lobster over cooked. We sent it back and second time was perfection however both times it was not wrapped in bacon as described. Appetizers were ok - crab cakes nothing s special and seem pre made. Ahi tuna was good not amazing. Chocolate lava cake was great and heaven pours on the drinks. Ambience very plain and kinda cold - not a warm Hawaii vibe. Overall for the price and reputation I’d say it was average which was a bit disappointing.
Great place to eat excellent food.
Server and manager were great, in addition to all the other staff! They make customers feel so welcome!
Great service and food was delicious
Food and service weee excellent but the decor is very outdated and for an upscale restaurant to not use tablecloths makes the whole dining experience feel like eating in a cafeteria. Expected better of the locale but the food and service did not disappoint.
Roy's is not what used to be. Atmosphere and food were just mediocre. We were seated in a dull dark space. No table cloth or placemats. No decor in restaurant. Felt more like a casual bar and grill than "Roy's." I hope this is just because of COVID and the management can eventually step it up.
Food was excellent. The butterfish is amazing. Our reservation was at 8pm and they were out of a lot of things on the menu. But there were still excellent choices as left and it was our first time. Make sure you get there earlier than we did. The service was very attentive and friendly.
Entrance window was full of finger prints. The waiting area was dirty (leaves). Table and chairs is run down. The ambience at outback or denny’s is better. Food and drinks tasted good but the presentation was very poor.
I used to love Roy’s for their ambience and food (taste and presentation). Quality has gone down.
If you like the seared ahi, Outback seared ahi is comparable. The drinks is comparable to any other restaurants in town. The soufflé, I have not found anywhere on the west side of the island.
Food did not meet expectations, Service slow, bill was overcharged by $150 ! Free dessert didn’t make up …waiter appeared to be impaired .Roy needs to take his name off this train wreck.
I have been here about 15 times and loved it every time but for some reason on X-mas eve something was off - the food, the service and the attentiveness. Also we sat next to someone speaking at the top of their voice that unfortunately could not be avoided. I will go back - the place is a 10 out of 10 but if this is not anomaly - I don't know......may eat in more.
