Roy’s Waikiki did an amazing job if making of making our honeymoon dining experience one to remember.
We came to Roy's tonight to celebrate my birthday. The staff was very congratulatory and they brought me a birthday hat. I started with a Watermelon Spritz drink which was very refreshing. We had the beef carpaccio appetizer which was very fresh and a really nice portion. For entrees he got the shellfish Mac and cheese. It was very flavorful! I got the Beach Walk Trio, which was three small dishes of the seafood favorites: Hibachi Salmon, Macadamia Nut Crusted Monchong, and Misoyaki Butterfish. All were good but the butterfish was my favorite. It was tender and the sauce was a nice mix of sweet and umami. We received a free chocolate souffle from checking in via Yelp, which was awesome! The restaurant also brought a birthday and honeymoon dessert, such a nice surprise! The service and ambiance were lovely!
Last dinner at our honeymoon. All delicious especially chocolate souhure.
Justin provided excellent service and his assistant waiter was friendly, efficient and helpful. He showed me the right way to eat edamame We even got a special honeymooners dessert 🙂😋
Great vegan options and very attentive wait staff!
My mother and I always wanted to go to the Roy’s Restaurant in Waikiki and we finally got the chance to have dinner during only one night stay in Hawaii.
Staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered 4-dish course. Each one was in very big portion and we couldn’t finish the main dishes and deserts. Considering the quality and volume I found that the price was pretty reasonable for fine dining. It was also nice that they have decaf coffees and teas. Would love to go there again!
Great food and service. A little pricey but we’re on vacation.
Roy's Waikiki is a "must do" for visitors. We always bring guests here and they are always thrilled. There really isn't a place near or in Waikiki that offers this terrific combination of excellent local ingredients, great service and casual yet stylish atmosphere. And this is probably the best run restaurant in Honolulu, due to Diva, the manager who ensures that the food and the service are top quality and that guests are always well cared for.
Roy's is not the most innovative menu in Honolulu but there are still plenty of interesting flavors in the fresh fish, the sushi and the appetizers. And the bar is a great open-air place to gather or to enjoy anything from the full menu, served by excellent bartenders.
Great service had a great time made the trip from Florida one of our better restaurants my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting
Reaction of guests at table: Short Ribs over cooked and tough; meatloaf tasteless; butterfish large portion rather small; sushi rolls excellent. One out of four is not a good score. Very disappointing evening that should have been better for the price.
Excellent place to have a date! the service was 2nd to none Kapu and Patrick are the best duo in the business super knowledgeable on the menu and ingredients they offered! If you’re on Oahu this is a must go don’t miss out
We love coming here every year when we are in Honolulu.
The food was mediocre. Over priced. Appetizer came out cold and the tuna roll had little to no tuna. Entree was not fresh. Customer service was great but will not be coming back. Was not worth the money.
The main dishes had a couple issues, but overall everything was good.
Fantastic meal!! First timers, three of us. We shared the appetizer sampler, marvelous! I had the sunset special three course meal. Appetizer that came with it was a three small plate sampler. Absolutely wonderful! Steak and shrimp were delightful also. The girl who assisted our server was so friendly, genuinely cared how our meal was and slipped in to fill our drinks without you even noticing. Server was very helpful as well explaining and answering questions. So glad I found this place on a top 20 list.
The wait staff was attentive from the moment we arrived, and very accommodating. The food was absolutely incredible - the best duck anyone at our table had ever had. The pineapple upside down cake and chocolate souffle were to die for! Overall, an ideal experience from beginning to end.
Excellent food!! Vegan menu was a joke. Service was ok, but could’ve been much better.
Amazing night! We took our 18 month baby and the staff were so accommodating! They even had a toy draw for her to choose from. Food and drinks delicious.
We had a wonderful experience at Roy's. Fabulous service, great atmosphere and exceptional food. Definitely one of our Waikiki highlights.
The 4 course menu i had was delicious an i will be coming back.
A delightful anniversary dinner! Might have tried another selection for variety but it was very nice and we were well taken care of!
We went for early Mother's Day dinner. The food and service were great as usual. It was quite loud as groups close to us were talking so loud I could hardly hear my wife sitting next to me. Overall good experience, will definitely be back.
The salmon which I asked for Med. Was Raw in inside. I couldnt eat it.
Great iconic restaurant with beautiful food and great service
Exquisite food and service.
Our Anniversary dinner was fabulous.
Was sat right by a tv in the bar area. The sushi was not impressive at all. Didn’t seem very fresh.
Awesome celebration spot! Would recommend 10/10.
Wonderful food and service! Will miss this place. The drinks are great too!
Service was excellent! The food and wine were just divine!
Best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time
Main dishes swordfish & prawns, excellent. Caesar salad terrible, avoid it. Noise level high. Servers excellent.
This Roy’s is always consistently great. I know when I walk in, I’m going to have a super meal and overall experience. My friend and I both had the standard tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Literally, the highlight of my dining week. Thanks team for being so consistently good!
We booked a table for 2 over two months ago, when we arrived we were told to sit and the wait would be a short time. After being told our table was prepared, the waitress showed another couple to our table!!! We were then shown to a noisy table with a very condescending waitress, the wait for food was too long, service was below average, consequently there was no tip as in Australia we gladly tip for good service. There are many restaurants in Honolulu but in our opinion Roys is not one of them.
I decided to go with the 3 course prix fixe menu. I was quite disappointed at the food. The Mac and Cheese mentioned in the description was non existent. The steak was fairly tough and possibly small for even a 4 oz serving.
Desert was also disappointing as the ice cream was frozen rock solid and took about 20 minutes to thaw enough to even be able to taste it.
Definitely made the dinner not worth the price.
I have experienced much better at other Roy’s locations.
Wasn't blown away by this Roy's. While I have always loved their menu and preparation, this particular site didn't wow me. I have to admit it was a turnoff to have a large blue laminated page inside their menu saying the Hawaii Roys restaurants do NOT honor gift cards from Costco, etc., from the mainland because the mainland restaurants don't pay them for the gift cards. I was like: "Work your issues out yourselves!" The kitchen was very slow (about an hour from our ordering the entrees with one shared appetizer).
Other Roy's restaurants, Rancho Mirage is an example, seemed to have much better execution. The server was understanding about their mixup, and comped us a free dessert, but the food was just OK at its best. There are other, better places out there.
I've been to Roy's Waikiki several times in previous Oahu visits and always had a premium dining experience. I took my friend who I was traveling with there because he'd never been to any Roy's and he loved it. He said his shrimp were the best he's ever tasted. I had the good ol' popular Macademia-crusted Mahi and it was, as always, superb. Also, our waiter Preston was just wonderful. He had a terrific, articulate and passionate way of describing the food and he clearly enjoyed what he did. His enthusiasm was infectious.
Our server Lea was amazing! Took my sister who was visiting from Alaska and it was her first time going to Roy’s. Food was outstanding as always but Lea made it an awesome night! Thanks Lea for your awesome service!
We booked a table and requested brighter lighting, and on arrival were greeted and taken to a great table by the windows. Service was prompt and friendly and the set menu was just right. Star of the night. Glorious chocolate soufflé. A very enjoyable dinner.
Was disappointed in the preparation of the food with a portion of my entree served cold. For this type of restaurant I would expect better control of what is being served to customers.
