This is a dining experience you don’t want to miss. It is a Michelin Star which means to me they did everything right. We have been to at least 9 Michelin Star Restaurants in the U.SS and a broad so feel We have a qualified opinion. Each bite of food was a party of well balanced and Mingled Flavors. Yoshi, our server had an understanding of the menus that was outstanding and recommendation based on experience. We followed his lead and were not disappointed. There were a few miss steps in the food execution but Yoshi and the Chef made it right. Treat yourself to a memorable meal and make sure you ask to sit in Yoshis section, although I’m sure all staff is well trained it’s just we loved Yoshi. JOB WELL DONE. BRAVO ROYS IN WAIKIKI.
Complimentary Edamame for the table to share. I had a Ceasar salad, and the tasting menu with hamachi crudo, macadamia crusted snapper, and asparagus with a chocolate soufflé for desert. My girlfriend had the braised short ribs. We shared Braised rib tacos, a watermelon pallet cleansing dish. There were generous portions without sacrificing flavor. I can go on and on but again do yourself a solid and dine at Roy’s with Yoshi.
I've been here before but never with a baby or my wife and the service was exceptional as always. They even prepared a small cup of water, crayons, and paper to color on (even though my child is too young to use them but the thought counts.
Roy's also served my daughter a plate of quesadillas and vegetables which she dropped a lot on the floor but I was extra impressed by the service received this time around. Every time I'm in Honolulu, Roy's is a must visit.
Absolutely incredible food. Seared ahi tuna was exceptional. Nice wine list. Very good, knowledgeable, pleasant service. Highly recommend.
Celebrating a 30th Birthday. Enjoyable and tasty as always.
Excellent service! Made us feel very special after just getting engaged :)
Amazing experience at Roy’s. Food, service and ambiance wonderful. Would highly recommend.
Booked outside table at 8pm on Tuesday night for 2.
Lived up to expectations. We have been to Roy’s a few times over the last 10 years and for anyone looking for quality & service, don’t hesitate.
Great service and whilst the food came sooner than expected, it was terrific.
The server came across as a bit pompous and forgot two items that we ordered. When we pointed that out, thought, he politely apologised and made sure it was not on the bill.
I was also disappointed to see that the Japanese menu was completely different from the English one. It only offered courses and no ala carte.
The food was mediocre at best. The salads were boring and the fish was only satisfactory. The crab cakes were quite tasty.
Everyone was amazing, all the staff wished me happy birthday, super clean. Food was out of this world good, and for such a good price. I caught the happy hour meal from 5-6pm. Such good service from the staff, they even caught me when I left without my take home cake. Truly made it a special birthday, I even got a little hat!
We love meeting friends from out of town here. Great food. Try the tofu sushi, really yummy. Hubby had the short ribs. Big portions so you’ll have leftovers. Tasty deserts too. Had the pineapple upside down and chocolate soufflé. Service was excellent and she didn’t try to move us along after the meal so we could talk. Highly recommend.
good service and nice steake but another is so so
It’s in Waikiki and very nice.
One of our favorite restaurants in Waikiki, never disappoints!
absolutely loved this place! food was great service was great! everyone was so kind and said hello as we walked in and goodbye as we walked out!! our waiter new what he was doing and was so kind to us and answered every question we had about the menu! i’ll be back!!
Great service. Food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend
Great food and service. The star of our trip to Waikiki.
This place was not what I expected. It was very casual and I thought it was more of a five star restaurant but it wasn’t at all. The butter fish was not good in my opinion. I ended up giving it to my husband and he liked it a lot. It is not flakey it is oily and heavy and oily like cod should be. (Someone told me it was light a flakey) the butter salad with bacon and blue cheese was average. Overall I was not happy with the food.
We have enjoyed our birthdy event very much, and we are pretty much looking forward to visiting Roys in Dec 24th 2019 once again from Japan to Waikiki / Hawaii.
Thank you for your kind hospitality including service from server, and much appreciated.
Newly renovated and still the same great experience No ka oi!
The food was fantastic! The smell, the taste, and the presentation was perfect!
Roy’s Waikiki is the always consistent in their standards of dining. The food and service are always stellar- friendly and professional. The timing of the courses was perfect and the staff was very attentive, but not intrusive. I tried the tasting menu which was delicious with reasonable portions. I am never disappointed when I go to Roy’s Waikiki.
Every time we go to Roy's we have experiences that are all over the place, some good but a lot of bad. This time was bad. We had reservations but the check in staff was a bit confused. While seating us the attendant pointed out the bathrooms - why I do not know (kind of tacky).
We started with a drink and a glass of wine which were decent. We had an appetizer, the fried zucchini which I found very good. Then things went down hill fast. I ordered clam chowder, which was never served. When the main courses came the Duck was fairly tasteless, not offensive but rather uninspiring for the price. They started pushing dessert on us almost immediately. I know they make some desserts that take time but if you want your customers to feel comfortable, make them feel not rushed, the prices are high enough to allow folks to eat a leisurely meal.
We were told the meatloaf was really good so my wife ordered. The Onion Rings tasted like oil bombs, might as well drink canola. The meatloaf was charred outside and looked great, but essentially tasted like a Whopper - charred bland meat.
For the price it was bad. We had not gone to Roy's for a long time because we had a rather average experience last time, now we are writing off the place completely which is a shame since we live in Waikiki and eat out all the time.
Great experience! Excellent management which is a testament to how the staff works from the host desk to the bus boys. The manager was so hands on, the staff was kind and great!
Always a fantastic dinner at Roy’s!!! Helpful staff and beautiful food.
Beautiful presentation. Knowledgeable waiter. It was an amazing experience
The food and the service were really good. Only downside was that it was really noise.
Food was amazing. Great service
The food was mediocre at best. Really not a place I would go to again. Sushi was full with rice and not fish. Seasoning is very heavy. I expected much more.
the original at hawaii kai was way better. experienced it on the same trip. better food, service...
My husband and I dined at Roy’s Waikiki on our honeymoon in 2009. This year for our 10 year anniversary we went back, this time with our daughter and it was as great as we remembered! Loved the atmosphere, pineapple martinis, fantastic food and amazing service! Thank you Roy’s for another evening we will never forget. PS... try the garlic tofu roll. It was simply outstanding!
Good food good service
My wife and I went to Roy’s in Maui 26 years ago. On our current trip to Honolulu, we decided to try Roy’s Waikiki, this time with our 19 and 16 year old sons. The food, service, ambiance, everything was a fine dining experience. Relax and enjoy! They make it real easy!
My son ordered 3 kids meal pasta and it was basically a medium bowl of pasta with a bowl of ice cream for dessert and it was $48.00. I ordered the tasting menu and the variety was excellent, but the quality of food has gone WAY DOWN. My fish tasted very fishy (mahi-mahi) I thought if I went to ROYS in Hawaii, it would be good. Quality of food has diminished. I will not return.
We came to Roy’s as our first “big” dinner in Hawaii to celebrate our honeymoon and they did not disappoint. From the moment we sat down to the minute we left we were treated as old friends. The service was spectacular and the food was incredible.
We were even given a little complimentary dessert with “congratulations” spelt out.
Our only regret was not being hungry enough to eat more.
Roy’s Waikiki is a for sure must go when in Hawaii
We were celebrating my birthday at roy‘s. Best food so far. We went there to days in a row and we will eat there for our last evening here in hawaii. The staff is so friendly, the food is on anouther level delicious and they offered us a free dessert for my birthday. Can‘t say any negative things about this place. Just amazing!
The best meal I had on the island. Every course was amazing!
The worst restaurant ever.
