Dropped in and ate at the bar, as we’ve done before. Very relaxing with great service and food. Never gets old.

Candlelit and cozy, attentive server, mediocre food- definitely not worth the price. We tried the lobster bisque, wedge salad, butterfish and seared tuna- all OK. We were definitely expecting better in San Francisco! The one part of the meal that was actually delicious was the lobster/bacon/ truffle Mac and Cheese.

Hawaiian Fusion? Not this place. Drinks-expensive, too sweet. Ordered Roy’s Famous Mai Tai, Roy’s is supposed to be Hawaiian Fusion, one would expect a Hawaiian flair to the bar delivery, it came in a simple glass with a slice of pineapple—no cherries, no cocktail umbrella. Food-so/so. On the phone when making reservation was told the menu was Prix Fixe but on ordering food it looked more like an à la carte menu. This is supposed to be Hawaiian Fusion but does a Filet with mac and cheese strike you as Fusion? Potstickers looked & tasted more like cold perogies; a bit chewy, bland and tough— couldn't really identify a lobster taste. The crispy chicken spring rolls although had an appealing citrus flavor were cold & very oily. Lobster Bisque was Hot in both ways, steaming and 'Very Spicy". My Filet Mignon came with 5 fries - must have had a run on potatoes. My friend ordered the Filet & Lobster, Filet looked more like a NY Cut Steak. Dessert no different that at Applebee’s who now owns all mainland Roy's restaurants. Bathrooms are “Unisex, by the time we used them they were filthy and the floors wet. Parking: told over the phone “Oh there’s street parking.” You ever try to park at a downtown San Francisco Street? There is no valet parking, give yourself enough time to find parking; on my 3rd go-around the block I was able to pull up behind a car leaving the area 15 parking spots up the street from Roy’s. Upstairs dining area looked no different than the back room of some strip mall Chinese restaurant with no windows and tables crammed into a small space, we elected to be seated in the main floor dining area. Ambience: NONE—Roy’s is advertised as a Hawaiian Fusion restaurant; this was Valentines Day, no roses or flower arrangements on the tables, no Valentines décor at all, only a few vases with plastic flowers on the window sills. Candles-cheap plastic battery operated candles & no table-linen, we asked for one. For the price we expected a better experience.

I would have given Roys a five star for food and service except for two issues. My fillet of Alaskan Cod served me was the tail end of a fillet, narrow and thin. Sent it back, and received in place a wonderfully cooked appropriate piece of fish. My wife ordered wine with her main meal, and it was delivered late, well into her meal. Other than this, it was a wonderful evening event.

It was a four course meal and i thought we were given several choices that looked good. The best part of the meal were the appetizers. The pork ribs and the lobster potstickers were great. The miso soup was one of the best I had ever had. The entree was what you'd expect so good not great. And the dessert was basic but alright. The drinks were reasonably priced - jalapeño margarita!! Valentine’s Day so take it with a grain of truffle salt.

We went at 6pm with reservations we made 2 months ahead of time. We were taken from the front of the restaurant passing every single empty table as we walked all the way to the back.

We were seated next to a wall that cut the back of the room only to find out on the other side of the wall was the bathroom toilet. Had a great dinner listening to about 50 toilet flushes in an empty restaurant.

Really Roy's this was the best table you can offer to someone who reserves 2 months ahead and comes in on your most empty times?????

I've been to this Roy's over 6 times and this time the menu was changed and different than the original Roy's in Hawaii. Too bad. Prices were very high for the value. Fish (okah) was dry. My friend had a server accidentally drop a sauce or something on her clothing. Not all the original Roy's menu items were on the menu. This is a nice place if someone has never experienced Roy's in Hawaii but this restaurant has ventured away from the original theme somewhat.

I have been to a Roya in Hawaii and found it to be worth the price. However, the SF experience did not hold up. The scallops were tasteless as was the shrimp and rice dish. The appetizer platter we ordered was very good, 2 in a canoe for 4. And my dining companions enjoyed their mixed seafood and mixed fish grill. Hawaiian martini was delicious. But our satisfaction didn’t match the 400 dollar check.

Our service was impeccable! From the moment we sat down until we were leaving the restaurant, they made us feel welcomed and special. The food and desserts were amazing. The ambiance was nice/romantic, but not too stuffy. We live 35 minutes away, but would make the drive to dine here again.
