I had mahi business lunch. The portion was small and over cooked and served over bland rice. All for $33!! Ridiculous!
Thanks for helping us to celebrate my daughter’s 21st Birthday!
Looovvve Roys! Seafood is my favorite food and the dishes here don’t disappoint. The misoyaki fish is to die for. I always order the four which has a little bit of everything: misoyaki fish of course, macadamia crusted ahi, sashimi ahi, and salmon. You really can’t go wrong with this dish!
The chicken was very dry. I ate it, because I was starving, and I never send things back to the kitchen. I don't know if it was a bad bird, or just overcooked, or both. The blue cheese wedge salad had a strange sweet flavored dressing. I like wedge salads for the savory flavor. This may be a personal preference, others may like it. One thing I must say, they had the best lobster bisque I have ever had, hands down. Service was very good.
The last three times that we have been to Roy’s have been disappointing.
Business dinner but the food came way too fast and the medium well steak came raw
We had to send it back and then they said they would come the steak but didn’t
The Scallops and Salmon were superb! Great Service!
I have always loved Roy's and find their seafood to be the equivalent of a great steak at a high end steakhouse. The cocktails are fresh and strong, the servers are on-point and they always have seasonal dishes that knock it out of the park. Most of the time I stay clear of chains but this one I'll forever enjoy in the mix of places to eat at.
Food is overpriced and not that good.

Sadly, the crusted mahi mahi had no flavor at all. This was very disappointing. I had a sushi appetizer which was very good. Also, the molten cake was very good. My drunken mule was also good. The wall next to the table was in desperate need of a good paint job. Also, about 4 children had taken over the bathrooms upstairs and were playing hide and go seek in them. This didn't last, but it was annoying. The restaurant was clean. And the staff was very kind. The food, however, has deteriorated from the past high quality. For the price, I would not, at this time, recommend Roy's. I hope you will improve!
Another A plus meal at my favorite San Francisco restaurant. The food was delicious the atmosphere exceptionally pleasant and the service was top notch. Thanks for a great start to a fabulous evening
A local landmark! Once again, enjoyed our dining experience, which included 1st Class attention from our server. We are definitely looking forward to another meal there soon....
Jose, our server, was excellent. Food was great!
Great service and food as usual!
Step up your game!!
Roy’s never disappoints, excellent food & service!
I wanted to give it an A+ rating, but really, it's overpriced for what they actually give you. for 33 dollars, I had the short rib lunch special. came with salad, miso soup and 2 cookies.. said it came with rice... no it came with about a tablespoon and a half of pineapple rice.. RICE? is CHEAP! that part was such a ripoff. I asked the waiter for a side of rice and it never made it to the table. the flavor of the few grains I had was good and the short rib was good. my coworkers seemed to enjoy their meals but agreed that they would all have liked more rice. The fried chicken is big. I may go back for the burger but not sure. to me the waiter should have comp'd something for the rice never showing up. I am not cheap and dine at very pricey restaurants but I don't like a rip off. 9 bucks for a bottle of sparkling water? come on.. my coworker ordered mashed potatoes due to not being able to chew because of braces... good portion of potatoes but not worth 10 dollars. i'll come in for happy hour next time.
Our family goes to Roy's for most of our special occasions, i.e., biethdays, anniversaries etc. The misoyaki butterfish is most favored but the filet lobster combo is a close second. The kiddie menu is the best we've seen anywhere. Oh, and the chocolate lava cake is the best desrert ever. Great service as well. Best dinning experience imaginable.
great food, as always
My girlfriend was telling me about their pineapple upside down cake, and it did not disappoint! The service was phenomenal, and they were very attentive to both of us. The NY Steak and the Short Ribs were mouth watering. It is pricey, but it is a perfect go-to for a special night out!
Roy's is very expensive, and the food just didn't match the prices overall. The pork rib and tempura shrimp appetizers were very good, the scallop and coconut rice entree was as well, but the butterfish wasn't good, it was a little fishy and overcooked, the book choy was over steamed and the rice was flavorless. The chocolate souffle dessert was delicious. The food should be consistently great for the value. The service was excellent.
Excellent service and ambiance. Food was delicious but portions could have been slightly larger.
No valet parking and garage parking is limited.
I didn’t realize this but this is the second (and more popular) Roy’s restaurant, the first one being in Hawaii. The food is fusion French and Hawaiian/Japanese. They had an extensive drink list (lots of Hawaiian inspired drinks). The food was expensive but very very tasty. They serve edamame instead of bread. My entree (scallops) were buttery soft and delicious. I wish I had room for dessert, they looked great, but I’ll have to come back another time. It was an overall great experience.
Had another stupendous dinner at Roy’s! Service is A1, food is divine! Had the lobster potstickers, glazed shrimp, and sea bass special. All the food was great but the sea bass was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Looking forward to our next visit!
The butterfish was a bit to fishy. Scallops and chocolate soufflé were delicious.
I don't know what happened to this place. It's been about a year since I was there last and things changed and not for the better. The Hawaiian martini used to be garnished with pineapple, now it comes with the pineapple they use to make the infused vodka. It is inedible, and should not be given to anyone. Other changes in the menu also were not good. I ordered lobster potstickers. I had them many times before and I was looking forward to them until they showed up. Deep-fried. I tried one and it was like a oily sponge. I gave up on the kitchen at that point and left. Kudos to them for taking them off my bill though. I only hope whatever has been happening here can be undone and it will return to its former self.
Excellent fish and great desserts.
Great service and great food. Server was engaging, friendly, and prompt. Had a nice and productive lunch with my colleague.
Service was great and the snacks and drinks from the bar aloha menu were good. Our meal was very underwhelming and I expected more after paying $200 for a nice dinner on our anniversary. Miles away from the quality at the ironical Roy’s in honolulu
Have been to Roy’s in Hawaii a number of times and have always enjoyed it. SF Roy’s was just as good. Service was excellent and food was quite good
Not crowded yet service was very slow
Great service and the food was very good.
We arrived 1 1/2 hours early, and they seated us promptly. Food was great and services was very attentive. We'll definitely go back again in the future.
Great experience but the SF add-on taxes are misguided and should be part of the stated costs... Service was outstanding...
Overpriced ok food. Food was very rich for fish and seafood. I tasted sauce more than the sea. For 2 persons, 3 drinks (wine and beer), 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 side and 2 desserts came to $250 with tax and tips. What's worse it didnt even taste that good.
“Roy’s” is a favorite! The menu is a wonderful experience in great flavors.
I recommend it as a “must” do on everyone’s dining list.
We had a very nice dinner. Had the Korean prix fix dinner ( Appetizer, main & dessert & you still have choices for each category)
The short ribs were excellent. We also had the fish 4 ways. The miso butterfish was the best. Nice portions with different accompaniments for each fish. Their cocktails are different with an asian influence.
Service was efficient but we were never asked how our food was nor was I offered coffee.
We would still return. PS they have a great happy hour everyday
One year retirement anniversary and a trip to SF for the weekend. Roy’s had been our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area for many years. Now that we moved out of state whenever we visit SF we look forward to Roy’s SF. The best service by the entire staff, excellent menu and the delicious and well presented meal. They haven’t changed and still the best.
It was a wonderful evening. There were six of us and we were treated very well, very quickly and in a very friendly and professional manner..but we never felt rushed. No complaints...nothing but a great memory.
Locale carino anche se un po’ rumoroso e con TV che trasmettevano la partita. Carne New York Steak buona. Da fuori sembrava più esclusivo grazie ai vetri scuri. Prezzi medio alti ma a San Francisco rimane nella media.
