Staff was extremely friendly.
They also took our appetizer off the final bill, as well as give us a free desert; due to it being my Wife & I’s anniversary.
An amazing restaurant with excellent food, service and staff.
Our waiter Adam was terrific and the food was delicious. Thank you to Ryan Wilbanks , managing partner, for the invitation to dine at Roy’s.
Great service. Phenomenal food. Pricey but worth it.
I ordered a beer from the bar. Bartender said they ran out but would check in the back. Never saw him again. Ordered it at my table they gave me on that was warm then said oh sorry they just stocked the refrigerator. Not good customer service in my opinion
Overall not on same level as Hawaii. Service slow, food ok but not special. I ordered surf and turf with lobster tail extremely small. Would not dine here again as the local competitors much better. We are looking forward to Hawaii again in February
we had to walk long from the parking lot. Server was very attentive and we enjoyed the dinner.
Fantastic dining experience on the marina. Food was top rate--the steak and lobster were absolutely perfect, and the scalloped potatoes were the best we have ever had. Our server was attentive and responsive, with a great sense of humor and wonderful personality. We will definitely come back for the food, for the service, and for the view.
Both salmon dishes were underwhelming- salmon over-cooked and dry. Bummer☹️
In general, the food was very good, though one dish was Luke warm and it took so long to find a server that the other diners had finished their dinner.
Then insufficient Open Table points were credited to my account.
Overall, not the excellent experience we usually have at Roy’s.
Our server appear to be attentive at the beginning of dinner but he definitely was not. We asked him to pass our dinner and everything came out one on top of the other. Very frustrating when you request things to be different and the restaurant was almost empty when we were there. Not a great value and we have been here many times and definitely will not return.
To put it simply, don't go. The food is average, at best. There are S0 many other great restaurants in San Diego! Don't waste your money!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food, service, value everything was great.
Everything was great except the waitress wasn’t at the level of attentiveness and seemed to be bothered by any requests. And I to remind her of the special deal that they were running... in fact she never said what specials they had that day.
Roy's is a great restaurant in a beautiful location in the harbor! The service was excellent! The food is very expensive $$$$ and it's good, but $54 for a piece of fish with some potatoes, veggies and a nice sauce is allot. However, again... You're paying for location location location!
" Chis Our Server Was Very Nice "
My wife and I went to Roy's Waterfront Restaurant again and Again the food and Service was First Class ! Chis our server had a great personality and came by our table several time to make sure our meal was the best. My wife and I shared a Lobster California Roll, a bowl of
Crispy Wok Fried Shrimp Tempura, and our favorite of all times at Roy's the Szechuan Spiced Pork Ribs with Roy's Original great Mongolian BBQ Sauce. Ryan Wilbanks the Managing Partner at Roy's Waterfront came by our table to make sure everything was going well. Roy's food is Great, their Service is Great, and the views out the window of the Harbor is Great !
This has always been our go to when we are in town. Unfortunately the server was too busy to pay attention to our table. We asked her to pace our meal, Appetizers and dinner came out one after the other. The sea bass entree had bones in it, I pointed this out to our server she said it was because the sea bass was caught locally. What? I have never ever had sea bass served to me full of bones. It was ridiculous, I did not eat it. Not worth choking, there was not enough light to see the bones. Will not go back.
Amazing chilean sea bass!!
I’ve been to Roy’s in Honolulu, and that place is amazing.
I was disappointed at this restaurant. The service was lackluster. The entree was just ok and that’s NOT OK when it costs $40. I won’t be back. The best part was siting outdoors adjacent to the marina.
Wonderful food and superb service
Great food and service! Took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu. Great value and drinks were stiff!
Great birthday dinner
Arrived at 7:20 but did not receive food until after 9:00. Our server was very good but they obviously did not have enough help in the kitchen. We were a party of six, and the dinners were not served at the same time.
While the food and service were very good, I had a major complaint about the location of the bussing tubs in the outside dining area behind the bar. Several tables (including the one I sat at) are about 10-20' from the bussing tubs. All night long, bussers and servers were throwing dirty dishes, silverware, etc. into the tubs making it extremely noisy. Not just setting the items in there, but THROWING them. Plates clankinking with glasses and silverware. If Roy's is going for a fine dining experience for guests this didn't cut it. It was loud, very amateurish in what should be a nice restaurant. I would recommend a manager sit in that location on a busy service night and see how they would feel. Also, the table was very wobbly. My husband put chopsticks under it to steady it.
Waitress had zero personality and even less warmth. We really wondered why she chose waitressing or how she earned a living on the fact I am betting she made very little in tips. Table next to us was bunch of, foul-mouthed, extremely loud drunks [not eating-just slamming drinks] who were being over-served. Drunks kept standing up right next to our table to loudly talk on cell phone blocking view of sunset. Not the way we wanted to spend out 26th Anniversary dinner. When we politely asked phone drunk to talk elsewhere, he ignored us and when manager asked how our dinner was...we pointed out the issue and he said he would address it but did absolutely nothing but go and hide. The actual waitstaff who filled your glasses and brought you bread etc were fantastic. Food was fantastic. Outdoor seating/view was fantastic as long as slobbering drunks aren't next to you again dropping f-bombs every other word and discussing who they would or would not "F+#%" and all the details as to 'why'. Bottom line--would not go back. Bad experience. There is just as good food without the sloppy drunks and bad waiters/mangers at other restaurants in town
Lovely restaurant. Amazing food. Great staff! Adam was our waiter and he was wonderful! We visit Roy's restaurant every year for our anniversary and this was our first time at the San Diego location.
Great food. Beautiful view. Waiter was awful. Gruff and felt rushed. No help at sll
This was our second experience dining at Roy’s. Our first experience was 5 stars all the way but this last experience was disappointing. The food was excellent and our service was friendly at first but after our dinner was served it was like we were forgotten. We had to wait well over 30 minutes to summon our server for the check. The serving of our meal was rushed and desert and coffee were served while we were still finishing up our wine from dinner. Over all a big let down from what we expected.
We've tried every Roy's in Hawaii and loved them all so had to try the one in San Diego. It didn't disappoint! Food was fabulous, our server, Kimberly, was attentive and helpful, and sitting on the deck overlooking the harbor while the sun went down was a bonus.
Have been to Roy’s on many previous occasions and have enjoyed it......this time very disappointed. Food was cold and uninspired, service spotty. Only redeeming quality was the view
This Asian and Hawaiian influenced restaurant unfortunately disappointed. The Maui Wowie salad was delicious but the entrees didn't live up to our expectations. Very dark inside, requiring us to use our phone flashlight to read the menu. Wait staff was adequate. Not worth the high hotel prices.
We love this place. It wasn’t our Anniversary so as soon as we arrived on outback table they acknowledged our anniversary w a nice card on the menu. Our server was super super attentive and also the buser on point super polite.
Roy's provided a lovely meal in a relaxing environment. My only real disappointment was that I added an indicator on my Opentable reservations that we were celebrating a birthday. The info was apparently overlooked and no mention of birthday wishes or a treat for my friend's birthday. Sad
Good food and great service. Just a little noisy on the patio with the plates getting bussed and thrown around
Terrific evening for our anniversary dinner. Great food. The short ribs and filet were excellent. Our view from the table by the window overlooked the marina and sunset. Wait staff was excellent with service, food selections, a few special requests and a couple of pictures for us to remember the evening. I would suggest the pineapple upside-down cake with coconut ice cream for dessert. A great relaxing dinner. We had dined here in the past and decided to come back again. Roy's was an excellent choice. Thanks!!
The air conditioning was not turned on and it was about 80 degrees in the restaurant. The place was empty and service was not very attentive.
Overall great resturant, we decided to step out on Labor Day and enjoy the bay, I received a email from Roy's earlier in the morning, inviting us to Mahalo Monday with a selection of the menu set in a Prix fix setting. There was a bit of confusion as it was not clear on the starting time, however we enjoyed some cocktails until the dinner schedule started, note the lobster wonton was a bit overcooked but everything else was on point.
One of the best waterfront restaurants I've had the privilege of enjoying! Will definitely dine there again!
As always Roys has really good food with the right amount. The service level of the restaurant has gone a little down starting with the host. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation (I noticed the tables were available, just missing utensils). Unfortunately the waiting area of this Roy's has a lot to be improved; you sit behind the lobby area next to the bathrooms and stare at a back side of the host table and a very messy wide cabinet/closet. when the host takes you to your table she just points to it and makes you move out of the way into other customers sitting faces so she can go back, not waiting for you to sit or even pulling the chair out as they do in many other high level restaurants (very unpleasant)
Great food, very good inexpensive wine options. Service overall good.
