Very nice evening with relaxing dinner, would definitely go back.
Special week vacation in “Palm Springs” before 50th High School reunion. Early dinner, 5:45 reservation, seated in a lovely, quiet back corner. The “specialty martini and Mai tai were exceptional! The “Maui Wowy” butter lettuce salad and Lobster Pot Stickers were wonderful choices for our appetizers and then came the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi and our other entree which was the evening special, Striped Bass with Gnocchi and a Pink Peppercorn Butter sauce. OMG!! Combine all that with a bottle of their Californian “Roy’s Chardonnay” and the Coconut Pineapple Upside-down Cake dessert and you just need to go home and put your feet up!
Our favorite restaurant!!
We had not been back to the area in three years which was our last time to this particular Roy’s. We had the “Trio” dishes so we could try various seafood dishes; butterfish was the best. A manageable wine list. Overall a good experience. Service was very good. Very attentive; just right. We had a table for two towards the back so the noise level was just fine.
The food was wonderful and staff accommodating. It took a while to place our order but the food was served promptly afterwards.
We will enjoy returning again.
We arrived at Happy Hour which is so busy, they have a wait list. We were sitting a table or two from the bar, so it was a little more lively on the noise scale. The service was fantastic for kids! A starter plate and a rush on beverages for them. They were out of stock on our wine choice, so we had to adjust for something more expensive. The food prices have increased significantly and I wonder if it was worth it. Everything was delicious, but unfortunately, overpriced. I think I understand why the Happy Hour was so popular.
Excellent dining experience. Our waiter David made the evening with great service and outstanding recommendations. Not cheap but you get what you pay for here .
Great food and service. I little bit loud because many groups with young families were having dinner due to the Easter holiday. Not a spot for a romantic or quite dinner though.
We have been celebrating our wedding anniversary very frequently at Roy's and we always got our picture taken at the end of dinner. I little bit disappointing that the restaurant discontinued the practice. However, we did have a nice Happy Anniversary welcome card at the table. Thank you!
Totally enjoyable experience....excellent food (and great variety) and drinks. Service was also excellent and our wait person was quite observant and responsive (to a couple of special requests).
Never disappointed at Roy's.....food is unique and flavorful.
Our children came in from Wisconsin and had a wonderful time at your restaurant.
Anniversary cake was very nice. Card on table was a nice touch.
Everything is fantastic. Food is tasty and fresh with some interesting options. Dessert is delicious (especially the chocolate one). Service is very friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is upscale and has a nice atmosphere. Very good dining experience when you want something exceptional.
Service was extremely slow.
Roy's was a huge disappointment on so many levels for me.
The service was extremely slow. The waiter spent so much time talking to other patrons at another table that we felt totally neglected.
Our dinner consisted of salads and a few appetizers and it took nearly 2 1/2 hours long. We waited and waited and frustratingly saw others who were seated well after us, get their food from their waiters long before our waiter ever brought any of our dishes to us. We had a 7:45 reservation and ended up being one of the last tables left in the restaurant. I think finally he clued in to the fact at the very end that we were all becoming quite frustrated by his lack of professionalism and care to do a good job. He told us he had two deserts coming to our table. We all just wanted to go home by that point and said it was appreciated however none of us wanted to eat dessert. He still brought them out to us after we kindly declined the offer. Still clueless.
The appetizers were not very good. The crispy wok fried shrimp tempura had a strange mix of flavors that did not please the palette at all. The only thing that was just okay to my dining companions and myself were the two the sushi rolls, Auntie Lei's Aloha Roll we ordered.
Sadly even the cocktails we ordered from the cocktail menu were not all that great.
I was really disappointed because when ate at Roy's in Hawaii a few years a go it was a great experience.
Roy's is sadly become a good example of a restaurant that has become way too commerialized
and ultimately lost what originally had made it a special spot.
Outstanding in every way. One of my top favorite dinners ever. Can't wait to go back.
Sadly, our first impression once through the front door was not a positive one. The hostess was less than friendly and never smiled nor even made eye contact. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful however, I would have expected to not have have had a general feeling of being rushed out the door as Roy's sees itself as being a fine dining establishment- we were in and out in less than an hour. The appetizers were very good however, after perusing the menu and paying particular attention to items that listed cilantro, I ordered the scallops with black rice as there was absolutely no mention of cilantro. To my disappointment, it was topped with copious amounts of cilantro and the rice was chock full of chopped cilantro throughout. I essentially paid a princely sum for four scallops. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he simply smiled and said "oh well, that's too bad" and left the bill on the table. My husband was very satisfied with his bone-in pork chop and while my son enjoyed the braised short ribs, it was a very meagre portion, even for someone who eats quite lightly in the evening. I'm not entirely certain that I would return as the Palm Springs area has a wonderful array of restaurants that offer better ambiance and better food at the same price point.
The food was extremely good but the service was even better. Palmer, our server, was absolutely fantastic. We can’t praise her enough for her recommendations, attentiveness, attention to modifications and overall friendliness. The butterfish and macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi shouldn’t be missed. Always trust the butterfish!! The Best!!
Been here many times on our trips to the desert
Not the Service I would expect for Roys maybe Applebees
Our waiter was fantastic!
Enjoyed every course! The seafood dishes (mahi-mahi and butterfish) were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent. Will definitely return when we next visit Pal Desert.
Our waitress was fantastic! Best ever, in fact.
The food was good.
The hard surfaces make for too much noise.
Everybody greets with Aloha. But they look at you funny when you say Mahalo.
The optional valet parking situation could be better.
Best overall dining experience in Palm Desert. The friendly ambiance, delicious menu options, considerate service and sheer inventiveness is irresistible. We love to sit in the seats overlooking the high tech orchestration of the kitchen. What an amazing team!!
The food was magnificent, The Chilean Sea Bass special was cooked to perfection.
Service was below expected level: delayed, had to ask for water repeatedly, had to ask to have dishes cleared, asked for bread and did not receive it, etc.
Enjoyed the evening with my friends , they loved the food and our service was excellent
Ever since Roy sold the restaurant... it is not as fantastic as it used to be. I was looking more for a fusion flare. It was good... but not great. Also I had to return my lemon drop martini. We enjoyed the bottle of wine that we brought in. It was great that they did not charge a corkage fee. that was a bonus.
I made this reservation a month in advance to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday with 2 other couples. I requested “a very special table” when I made the reservation, then called a week before AND the day of to re-confirm that everything was set. Not only were we not at a “special” table, were put at a table in the back room, where the ambiance was awful and we felt like an after thought. The service was beyond terrible, with long periods of complete and total disregard. I finally went to find “Randy”, the “managing partner”, who, while apologetic, was completely unable to remedy the situation. Service remained slow and totally sub-par. Flatware was not replaced as needed, drinks not refilled, plates not cleared. I finally requested a coffee (it was never offered), but the server didn’t bother to ask if anyone else wanted one. I am beyond disappointed; I am appalled. Roy himself would be appalled and embarrassed to have his name associated with this establishment.
Disappointed! We were seated in a side room away from the main dining room. It looked like it was meant for private parties. The table was wobbly and the chairs were uncomfortable. My husband and I both ordered the chef’s specialities. Although the prepreration was good, my Opal was dry and tasteless. I would halve preferred a smaller piece of fish and more sweet potato purée. I don’t know if we will dine at this location again.
Food was amazing.. The seabass was tender, flavorful and tasty. A great dish. My wife had the tiger prawns, excellent. Service by Trinidad was exceptional. Intentive and professional. Overall an excellent experience.
Delicious seafood, as always! Especially loved the scallops with coconut black rice, truly memorable.
Excellent in every respect. Mahimahi perfect among other things. Excellent service etc
Amazing service and food! Celebrated my birthday at Roy’s and they made the evening very special!
Great food and beverages
Great gluten-free options. They were able to accommodate us, even though we were early. All three of us loved our meals.
Food was great and we had a wonderful time
Been coming here for twenty years now. Food was good, service seemed strained due to late delivery of items and missed item. Took 15-20 minutes to even get cocktails, so not sure what happened. Edamame took forever. Overall, event could have easily been cut by 30 minutes, along with soufflé which should have been entered early for prep, but I suspect never was.
Ok. Not as good as usual. Portions very small and overpriced.
Are food was great so we’re dribkd only bummer was I ordered the bacon Bloody Mary and the second one did not have the bacon so that was a bummer otherwise everything was great !
