A terribly long wait for food which came not completely what we ordered. Manager reduced bill but it was a tense and not pleasant experience. Very popular restaurant. Food is good but very pricey.

We have enjoyed Roy's food for years. This was our first trip to the Rancho Mirage location. Roy is known for the Hawaiian fish, but they have the best short ribs! I order them every time I eat there. I also love the Poke appetizer. The butter fish is also very good. We had great service at Roy's last week.

Really slow service was a huge detractor from a nice evening. Food was very good, but long wait made it far less fun. Server was nice, not his fault. Won't be in a hurry to return, for the pricing, I expect better.

Have the butterfish. Don’t even think about anything else. You’re welcome!

First time at Roys. Had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, even tho we had a reservation, which is unusual for a high end restaurant. Our server was good. 3 of 4 had the mahi mahi which was overcooked. One had the pork chop which was cooked exactly right and was delicious. Was busy and noisy. Wouldn't rush back. Disappointing experience overall.

Annabelle says: Can the service be "over attentive"? It seems between bites someone, the server, manager?, owner? came around asking us over and over again "Is everything to your satisfaction?" OVERKILL. Relax! Great food and ambiance.

I took my fiance Stacey to Roys for Valentine's day. Our reservation was for 8:45 pm and we were seated by 8:50 pm. Mary was our server and was so awesome beautiful smile very patient. Mary recommended the fish which was truly amazing the flavors out of this world. The restaurant was crowded and it took a while to get our food but we were in no hurry and it was worth the wait. We will definitely tell our friends about Roys and yes we will be back. Please see that Mary gets kudos without a great staff you only have great food with no one to serve it. Larry Petak

Over all great experience, a little disappointed about only having a special menu, but food was amazing.

They ran out of their published special for a 7 pm seating. Made us wait 30 minutes and then no fresh whole Maine lobster left or spare rib appetizer. This was Valentine’s Day! Needless to say it put a big damper on the evening. I signed up for reservations the day I got the email. At least a month prior.

Went for Valentine’s Day. Despite scores of tables with two people that were set for six, it took us 15 minutes to convince them to add an extra chair to our table of 4. Dinner took 3.5-4 hours. Food was of very low quality. Service was extremely rude and inattentive. We understand it was Valentine’s Day - but you can’t charge 100 usd per person for an experience that bad.

This was a Valentines day dinner which was spoiled by the fact we ended up not having dinner... After over an hour waiting we were told it would be another hour for our food due to the fact they over booked the restaurant. So we left and went elsewhere and probably won't go back.

Like all the other Roy's we have visited, this one was exceptional. Great food, good service, and a nice atmosphere. It is expensive, but well worth the cost.

We went for Valentines Day. First we were disappointed that they had only a fixed menu but we decided to stay anyway. The wait time just to place our order was well over 20 minutes. Then we got our food before we ever got our drinks. Our appetizers were still on the table when the soup/salad course came out, so our waiter (without asking us if we would have liked the food which we would have) turned tail and took the soup & salad away. 15 minutes later it was brought back out (still hadn’t received our drinks at this point) our soup & salad was brought out and you could tell hat it had just sat on the line waiting. The salad was soggy and drenched in dressing, so much we couldn’t eat it. The soup was cold and had the standing film across the top from sitting so long on the line. Entrees arrived after another extensive wait. We order the butterfish and the surf and turf. Steak was extremely under cooked. Lobster was extremely over cooked. I couldn’t eat either portion of my entree. Butterfish wasn’t bad though. Desert was a sloppy mess. The waiter came to our table all of maybe 3 times total for the 2 hours that we were there. The entire experience felt like an over crowded cafeteria. This is such a shame. We have really enjoyed this location in the past. We understand that Valentine’s Day is extremely busy for restaurants but this particular experience painted this location in such a bad light for us we find it difficult to reason in returning.
